I take this camera everywhere I go. It is user-friendly and there are plenty of avenues to find different ways to use my camera. I have used it in a variety of settings land and sea end it gives me the best possible pictures; clear colorful shark images. I recommend a silver over the black for the touch screen for the average or above average user as the black is great with a little bit more on it but more for the professional.

No. You can upgrade for about $30 and get the microphone and volume control.

Are the headphones sound proof? (Meaning does it cancel outside noise)
No. But Bose does have a nice line of noise cancelling buds and phones.
