Steve Barron's big-screen treatment of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen image preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and is preferable to the standard full-frame transfer. An English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1 and a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include the original theatrical trailer, character biographies, and an interactive game that is played by using the DVD remote control. This is a fine disc from New Line that should entertain Turtles enthusiasts.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released in 1990 and was a total sensation. The film makers took the material seriously and made a movie with deep thought. Four average turtles and one rat are turned humanoid after contacting a toxic ooze in the New York sewers. The rat was originally from Japan and is much older. He nurtures the turtles and begins to train them martial arts from his memory of watching his former owner practice the art of the ninja. They understand they would be considered "freaks" if exposed to the average human. They decide to remain underground and when there is crime or violence from above they use their defense skills to help those innocent in need. One of the victims they save is a female reporter who ends up giving her assistance to the turtles. Brilliant film and wonderful soundtrack and motion picture score! Highly recommended!

It seems many film scores are just fillers these days. That won't happen with Alexandre Desplat composing! He is one of the most sought after composers and one can see why. I love the score to the original Godzilla film from 1954, however this is also a fine piece in it's own right. The last two tracks "Godzilla's Victory" and "Back to the Ocean" are immense structures of music. The entire album is a joy to listen and it is no mystery why Desplat was named one of today's best modern composer by fellow composer Danny Elfman. Cheers!!!

What's great about it: Dark and brooding. Powerful!
Eric Darnell and Tim Johnson's CGI release Antz gets a fantastic DVD release from Dreamworks. The disc contains a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. There are no subtitles on this release. The educational supplemental materials include an audio commentary track by the two directors, a behind-the-scenes featurette, a documentary look at the creation of CGI images, and a theatrical trailer. This superb disc will please every member of the family and illuminate modern animation techniques for those interested in learning how this particular kind of movie magic is made.

This film just keeps getting better! It came out during the same year as Pixar's A Bug's Life and I believe both films are superb in their own right. Antz follows the life of a soldier ant and a princess ant of life outside the colony and into the human world. Looking for the perfect way of life, they just might find it only exist in oneself. Great AMAZING music score composed by Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell. Many special features on making the film and animation. Holds right at the top with best films of 1998! Not released on blu-ray as of 9/15/2014 but dvd is till great and super cheap brand new!

These songs are fantastic! They display comedic charm while still being very dramatic. "I Know it's Today" is a funny song about being rescued from the tower but it is sung so passionately. "What's, Up Duloc" is a darling tune though it's about a wretched king ruling his people and "I think I Got You Beat" is my favorite about whose life is worst. The recording is a studio version so they are singing perfect, however the dvd/blu-ray live version has a much better feeling to their voices. This is the only way to get the soundtrack though. Still, a wonderful experience!

Linkin Park is back! This band has lost a lot of fans over the years. The claim that they are not as good as the first two albums seems to be bogus as their next three albums all were released at #1 on the sales charts. This album made it's debut at #3 next to Lana Del Rey and Sam Smith (both artist with vastly different styles of music). While the rest of the rap/rock bands have come on gone, LP has continued to flourish. They adapted into a more mature form of music. The style could be considered modern. I t would be uncomfortable for a band in their late 30's to continue writing songs about their parents and school as was the case with their first two albums. I find the latest material refreshing and enjoyable. LP comes out rocking hard in this album. Many songs start with music where the first words aren't spoken until a minute into the song. There are guest vocalist as well as musicians. (Rakim, Page Hamilton, Daron Malakian, and Tom Morello). Rakim singing the rap verse during the song Guilty All the Same is new move where as this would be reserved for band member Mike Shinoda. A song that has not been given much recognition or single release (as of 9/14/2014) is Mark the Graves. To me is one of the most amazing songs LP has written on any album. It stars with a beautiful guitar tempo and lead singer Chester Bennington both sings and screams but in a very melodious way. Linkin Park is touring at this time in promotion of this album and the reviews are raving of these songs performed live. This cd/dvd set is a Best Buy exclusive which contains a live video performance of Linkin Park in Mexico. The live dvd does not contain songs from The Hunting Party but plays as a greatest hits from all their past material. An amazing album for fans an non-fans alike!

For an album that is mostly mellow, they're are some uplifting moments. The song "A Sky Full of Stars" is a nice groove. If your a Coldplay fan you will be thrilled, however if you are a casual music listener looking for some new material, this might not fulfill your needs. Still a good effort. Beautiful beats.
This release contains all 22 episodes from the 13th season of FOX's long-running animated series The Simpsons. In addition to the shows themselves, this set includes deleted scenes and commercials featuring the beloved citizens of Springfield.

On blu-ray the Simpsons look amazing! You get the entire series on 3 discs instead of four with dvds. I love the Halloween special "House of Whacks" which is a parody of the horror movie "Demon Seed" and "2001 A Space Odyssey". Pierce Brosnan plays the voice of a house that is run by an automated machine. He is in love with Marge and tries to get rid of Homer. A ton of special features. Hours of content! You"ll love it!

If you have never bought an album by Dream Academy, this is the one to get. This two CD collection contains many of the vital works of art this band has created over their amazing career. I have to admit, I am a huge John Hughes fan and own the vinyl for the soundtrack to Planes Trains and Automobiles which contains the song "Power to Believe". It plays near the end of the movie during the scene which Steve Martin's character is thinking about the entire ordeal he went through with John Candy's character. The scene in the film had the song without words while the album included the lyrics. I thought the singing voice sounded so warming I searched for their other works. This album contains the instrumental version of the song "Power to Believe" which has never been release. There are other unreleased songs as well and includes a much informative liner notes. You will be thrilled to own this and it's a great deal for how much material is on this set! WOW!
