We have hard water, and had a fairly new Mr. Coffee maker that just sputtered and steamed all the time, even after i cleaned it multiple times and disassembled it and cleaned out the little check valve thingy that some online sites blamed for the problem.
We bought this Cuisinart after doing our research and seeing it's good reviews and love it. It is quiet, fast, and JUST WORKS the way a coffee maker should. I think it's a much superior design and better engineered (and I'm an engineer)! It was about 3 times the price, but worth it! Only had it a few weeks, but so far we are very pleased. Brews 12 cups in less than 10 min, and it tastes great every time. Don't use any of the other fancy settings, but like that it has an indicator to tell when it needs cleaning, and the manual suggests it is smart enough to show if your cleaning did the job or not... says to repeat cleaning if indicator light doesn't go off. A great coffee maker for folks with hard water.
