I'll always prefer Gene Wilder's classic Wonka film over Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's version, which wasn't bad, but just didn't feel the same. Wilder was a very versatile actor that is deeply missed to this day. He was perfectly cast as Willy Wonka and really made this film flow nicely. It's definitely one that I'll watch again and again!
This is my second favorite film that features Ally Sheedy aside from "The Breakfast Club" and "Short Circuit." Matthew Broderick also has a great role in this film as well. Broderick's character basically finds his way into a government program that he thinks is a video game and then gets the attention of the federal government. He also nearly starts a major World War in the process. Every minute of "WarGames" is thrilling from minute to end and I would definitely recommend this film to anybody that likes a good sci-fi or thriller.
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is everything that you would want in a film. Despite the longer running time, it keeps your interest throughout the entire film. With that being said, however, I was thrilled to discover that a 4K version was being released and immediately jumped at the opportunity. Spielberg really changed the landscape of sci-fi films with this title and the graphics themselves are actually really good for the era too. This best explains why "Close Encounters..." is still quite relevant to this day. It's an instant classic that will probably never get old in my book!
Alison Krauss is an award winning singer for a reason. This woman has an angelic voice that would make the toughest man cry. Every single cover on this album was done beautifully. The background vocals provided by Jamey Johnson and Dan Tyminski were great too.
With that being said, however, if you like REAL country music i.e. not any "Country" songs done by Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, or Sam Hunt, then please do consider this album! You won't regret it!
The all star cast of "Scorpion" has great chemistry! Elyes Gabel is a great lead and the rest of the cast is fantastic as well. The storylines themselves might not be completely realistic, but the show itself is really fun to watch. It's also great to see just how much the characters themselves have developed over the course of the past three to four seasons now. Happy and Toby had an epic wedding and Walter and Paige are FINALLY in an actual relationship. Meanwhile, Agent Gallo is now in a relationship with Ally. Now if only Sylvester could find somebody else...
My only request is for CBS to release this show on Blu-Ray again like they did with Season 1. Other than that, I am fully satisfied with my purchase.
This film was, in my opinion, Tom Hanks' best work since "Captain Phillips." Even though I knew about the events of this film prior to walking into the theater, I did not expect it to go into such great detail in such a short amount of time, considering the fact that "Sully" is just a little over an hour and a half.
In summary, I enjoyed this film enough to add it to my Blu-Ray collection. If you haven't seen this film already, do yourself a favor and pick it up on DVD or Blu-Ray....or rent it if you can. "Sully" does not disappoint!
Director Robert Zemeckis once went on the record by stating that this film would not have been made if the events of 9/11 did not happen.
I had the opportunity to see this film in theaters and it did not disappoint. The visual effects were absolutely stunning and Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives a worthy performance here. However, if you are not one to withstand heights, then this film will literally have you on the edge of your seat. The ending of this film was quite a treat as well.
In summary, although the story line itself isn't the most interesting, it is the Twin Towers themselves that really shine here.
I thoroughly enjoyed 'Jason Bourne' and thought that it was far better than 'The Bourne Legacy.' I thought that the previous film's plot was dull and it also felt incomplete without Damon too.
Without revealing too much, I will leave you with one question. Just what makes this film so critical in the 'Bourne' series, you might ask? Here's the answer. We finally find out how and why Bourne got amnesia in the first place...along with some additional details which I won't reveal!
On that note, it is my only hope that Greengrass and Damon continue to make these films, because these two make a great cinematic team!
'Snowden' is one of the greatest films from Oliver Stone in years. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, on the other hand, gives a masterful performance as NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. The film itself goes into great detail as it chronicles the backstory of Snowden's life and how he managed to pull off one of the greatest political exposures in U.S. history. As an added bonus, this DVD / Blu-Ray pack also features an exclusive interview with Edward Snowden himself while the end credits feature a montage of clips...including archived material from the now infamous 2016 U.S. election as well.
In summary, if you like a well crafted docu-drama, then 'Snowden' is for you!
This was another album that I purchased for my sister, but also listened to myself.
One of my favorite tracks from this album is "From the Ground Up" which really sounds similar to something that Country group "Rascal Flatts" would've done. In fact, I was really surprised to learn that this song wasn't one of theirs, as the bridge of this song really sounds similar to how Gary LeVox sings.
Other tracks that I enjoy on this album include "Lipstick" "Lately" "Sway" and "Obsessed."
If Dan + Shay keep making music like this, then they will go far! Keep up the good work guys!
