We were looking for a reliable TV that had excellent brightness and contrast that would be easily visible with bright ambient daylight. We could have settled for cheaper and/or smaller models but are glad we didn't. This TV does such a good job of upscaling that we can barely distiguishing between full HD and 4k streaming content over Netflix, Amazon and Google TV, even when sitting 6 feet in front of the TV. DirecTV "HD" content doesn't look as good but it's better than we'd expected. We don't yet have a 4k Blu Ray player, but standard Blu Ray on our old PS3 looks amazing. The speakers are much better than those on other recent Sony models, but for movies it's still best to use an external surround system. The Android TV interface gives many options for streaming from various providers, including all of the major networks. As far as connectivity, we've had virtually no problem streaming over WiFi with a 802.11ac router and a 25 Mbps connection. Finally, I'd like to say that making a decision on a TV like this is very difficult to do online. The staff at Best Buy/Magnolia (in particular, Derek at Mall of America in Bloomington, MN) evaluated our personal needs and preferences over a period of more than a year and made recommendations. We bought this 2017 model during its first week of availablilty and it was worth the wait.

Much better than my old center speaker

When I bought my first center speaker I didn't appreciate the importance of a clean, crisp sound for spoken dialog. The unique design of this speaker delivers just that. Dialog and other center sounds come through crisp, clear, and lifelike while music and background sound go through my older Martin Logan front speakers, which are better suited for background sound. These speakers blend in seamlessly.

I've had this model (4th generation Core i7/8GB RAM/SSD) for about a month and it's very fast and versatile. It's a high end desktop when I need it and it's a giant, lightweight tablet for casual use. The fold-out feet allow use at optimal desktop and tablet angles. The desktop stand makes the machine look like a regular all-in-one, and the wireless keyboard and mouse work great every time. The XPS 18 takes full advantage of Windows 8.1, and the OS is a joy to use on this machine. The screen looks great and I'm getting better battery life than I'd expected (similar to my 10 inch tablet)

What is the difference between the Sony 900E and the Sony 940E ? I am interested in a 70" + size.
Better contrast due to the full array LED backlighting. The black areas are truly black. It also has a faster processor that allows for better upscaling to 4k-like quality. There are other improvements as well, like sound quality, but the processor speed, and contrast were the biggest reasons why we chose the 940e. We're not disappointed despite the higher price
