This Warner Brothers disc offers a bare-bones but solid DVD edition of this Clint Eastwood favorite. It breaks the film down into a generous 34 chapters, thus making it very easy for viewers to find their favorite gags and fights within the film's running time. Any Which Way You Can also benefits from a top-notch remastering job: the anamorphically enhanced video transfer is rich in color and sharp detail and the soundtrack has been given a nice Dolby Digital 5.1 remix that allows the viewer to savor each country tune and punch-up sound effect in style. Extras are limited to just a trailer and a brief set of production notes but both are worthwhile - the skillfully edited trailer has some amusing voice-over narration and the production notes reveal a few noteworthy nuggets of trivia, including the fact that this modest little comedy was one of the most successful films of 1980 thanks to a $75 million gross at the box office. The disc also gets a few bonus points for using the film's lavish painted-collage poster art for its cover. All in all, Any Which Way You Can is a well-crafted DVD that makes up for its lack of extras with a great transfer guaranteed to please the film's fans.
