Cloud Atlas was good for a single watch in my opinion. The production value in the movie is epic, always something good to the eyes on screen. The plot may lose many, however, and I personally found the makeup and acting to be elements not of the highest standards. If you are looking for a different science fiction experience from the average movie though, something a little heady and intellectual, Cloud Atlas may intrigue you.
This smart Samsung BD-H5100/ZA Blu-ray player supports BD, DVD±R/RW, DVD-Video, CD±R/RW, WMV and JPEG formats and 1080p video output, so you can easily enjoy your favorite media in crisp high-definition.
I found this blu-ray player to be very affordable and easy to get straight to using. The player may not have the largest array of features, but it does the job of using basic aps such as Netflix and Youtube, as well as playing your blu-ray movies. A simple, easy to use box right out of the box.
This twin-pack of collaborations between Academy-Award winning director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio includes the psychological thriller Shutter Island and the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator.
Shutter Island is a predictable movie in my opinion, however, one that is watchable. The Aviator made for a good pairing, however, if you are wanting a double feature of Scorsese and DiCaprio. The Aviator is a little long, but it is epic in its biopic scope and I found it interesting. I personally would not pay over $7.99-9.99 for this two pack.
An over-the-top exercise in twisted plotting, which teeters into B-movie territory at times. However, the outrageous profanity and quirky dark humor of this picture make is quite entertaining and "fun." Also, in its own dark way, it is a very sexy movie.
Lone Survivor is a rare instance where a motivational "you can do it" theme did not come across as cliche or corny. This movie delivers gut punching drama and lots of intense action. After the final scene of the movie I felt inspired and energized, even after watching it more than once.
The movie Training Day is one of my favorite movies, but I'm not sure pairing it with The Pelican Brief and John Q makes total sense aside from they all feature Denzel Washington. Training Day is a far more intense movie than the other two. However, all three movies are watchable features and this triple feature should be an easy decision of a pickup for a collector.
This is a movie that seemed like it should have more going on and more "moments." However, I found the story ended up drawing out in a boring fashion and the actors are going through their predictable motions in terms of performances.
The movie Natural Born Killers is one of my favorite movies, always inspiring to watch as a dark satire of media and violence. Now, if you're with me on that, no reason not to get the other two Oliver Stone movies along with it. Any Given Sunday is a solid football drama that no other sports movies can really compare to. JFK, I'll admit, is a bit dull. This triple feature package just has the disc inside, nothing too exciting, but a nice way to slim down the collection for storage.
As a drama this movie may be a little too slow and uneventful for some. Eventually, the circle of events may even become confusing. However, I found it rich in atmosphere and there is a lot of dry humor to be enjoyed. The cast members of this movie are wonderful in their craft.
This is a movie that I find entertaining every time that I watch it. The actors are all engaging, sweet in their moments, and the story tugs at your heartstrings while also making you laugh consistently. A wonderful movie.
