Fitbit Surge Fitness Watch (Large): Built with GPS tracking and continuous, wrist-based heart rate monitoring, Surge displays real-time workout stats like distance, pace, elevation climbed, and heart rate intensity, so you can make the most of your training.
i liked this device. It's very basic and does what it says. The heart rate feature is awesome but gets dicey if you sweat like a beast. There is a design flaw that causes this particular watch to fog up. The condensation gets extremely annoying it's an actual problem that many are encountering. The UI is awesome and it's super easy to use to help you keep track of your overall progress. The Fitbit dashboard is really great and they keep improving their layout to make your experience better. I loved the ease of use. It is a bit bulky looking and sits at an angle on your wrist. If you have really big wrists like I do, you're going to have to get the XL which can only be bought through the Fitbit site itself. I ended up giving it to my 12 YO, and she loves it. She's an aspiring soccer player and uses it to time her runs and keep herself in higher heart rate zones so she can work on steady state training and build endurance. I also really liked the analytics and the challenge feature. It was nice to have motivation.
TomTom Multi-Sport GPS Watch + Heart Rate Monitor: Track your activity accurately to get the most from your workouts. The heart rate monitor pinpoints your optimal heart rate zone to help you reach specific goals, whether it's speed training or slimming down. Once done with a workout, sync your watch to a PC or your smartphone and compare your activity results to previous ones.
I'm a pretty big dude. I powerlift and CrossFit and wanted to incorporate analytics into my workout to achieve better performance. The tech is great and company is awesome, this product, not that awesome. The band on the watch is too bulky and they don't make one for a person with a bigger than average wrist size. The GPS feature works well enough and the multi sport feature makes it somewhat decent. The heart rate monitor is ok. The material they use for the strap is cheap and showed signs of wear after just one use. It was a pain in the butt while working out. It kept rolling down and needed to be adjusted pretty much after every movement. Sync is slow and app needs work.
