Bloody. Did I say bloody? That's an understatement.
Ir starts off well. But when everyone gets to the haberdashery chaos rapidly ensues and things get very ugly and very bloody and it doesn't let up to the end.
Nice main title sequence with Morricone's brooding score.
Technically it's excellent. Story wise, it's not my cup of coffee.
Bloody. Did I mention it's bloody? It's bloody. It's hateful.
A bold, mind-bending accomplishment. The image and audio quality approaches reference grade. A plethora of extras will keep you entertained and informed. Bears repeated viewing. A keeper.
OK, not an Oscar contender but the Secret *is* fun viewing. Thurber is more the inspiration rather than the realization which is Stiller. And it is Stiller's film -- he's very good in front of and behind the camera delivering the essence of Thurber rather than a rote interpretation. The image and sound quality of this Blu-ray is top notch demo quality. It falls short of greatness but is fun to watch.

Just don't expect communications to 35 miles unless you have a clear line of sight over that distance -- none of the walkie talkies really reach that far. Works great in shopping malls and big box stores and places on the planet that don't have cell coverage -- which is a lot, actually, and that includes a good portion of the US southwest. (When was the last you tried making a cell call in the Painted Desert?) Easy to use out of the box. Batteries and charger included. The manual covers what you need to know. If the batteries go dead you can replace them with 3 AAAs.
The seventh season of Dr. Who finds the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) facing foes from within a magical winter landscape, and sees his loyal Ponds (Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill) throughtheir final voyage. Other challenges include rescuing a spaceship filled with dinosaurs, traversing the Wild West, escaping a Russian submarine, and much more.
Doctor Who Series Seven on Blu-ray looks and sounds great! The only nit-picking flaw is the closing credits which wiz by with a jerking motion not seen in previous season releases. Is a puzzlement. That's the only flaw. The rest, again, looks and sounds great! Exemplary. There are a number of welcome special features. --- Sad to see Matt Smith step down but that's the nature of the series over its 50 year run. Peter Capaldi's era is off to a solid start.
The legendary David Attenborough created the epic documentary miniseries Planet Earth, which became his pièce-de-resistance. The program plunges into, and canvasses, virtually every aspect of the global ecosphere, from the mountains to the oceans to the flora and fauna, one subtopic at a time - meanwhile reveling in atmospheric cinematography. By any standard, it qualifies as the most successful nature documentary ever shot, selling millions of copies and winning a host of international awards including four Emmys. Attenborough narrates. This box set contains the entire miniseries as it originally aired, plus numerous bonus features.
The sights and sounds are brilliant! The image and audio quality of this 6-disc Blu-ray set are exemplary. The 1080i image is flicker free and everything looks great. the DTS 5.1 is stellar. The content is jaw-dropping great. The set contains a plethora of extras.
This title has been released several times. My favorite is the globe packaging. This physical package is pretty good *except* for the cardboard sleeves for the individual discs. Cardboard sleeves are *not* a good idea as they can scratch the surface of the disc which in turn can result in play disruption. That happened on one of the discs on first play. Cardboard sleeve (and staggered hub) packaging should be banned. Big mistake.
That being said, "Planet Earth" on Blu-ray is, again, brilliant and I'm delighted to have it in my collection.

Tom Cruise. Morgan Freeman. What more do you want?
This is one beautifully photographed film. It's visually stunning, in a Kubrickian kind of way. And on a visual level alone well worth watching. The post-apocalyptic story echoes others of the genre. Set that aside and enjoy the ride. It's a good story well told.
Image and sound quality is demonstration quality. And the disc has enough extras to keep you busy.

I saw this film in its initial theatrical release. It was a breathtaking experience. The film draws you into a world of its own. This is a sci-fi classic that ranks with the best. In sheer scope and audacity, it has few peers. A film noir set in the future, drenched with atmosphere and expectation and the unexpected. The Blu-ray simply defines the format delivering a visual and aural immersive experience.

Morgan Freeman, Jessica Tandy, and Dan Aykroyd are great. This is Freeman's breakthrough film that placed him, justifiably so, in the top rank of film actors. The entire cast is great with kudos to the three leads. This is a top notch production all the way. The Blu-ray looks and sounds *great* -- better than in the film's theatrical run and better by far than any previous home video release. For story and character development -- this is a top notch film.
