Still a great portable speaker
on April 14, 2019

So glad I could review this years XB series speaker. I also have last years model XB31 and am still very happy with it.
The differences appearance wise is the new XB32 has the same fabric front, but a soft touch rubber / plastic shell whereas as the XB31 was completely wrapped in the fabric. Personal choice here, I prefer the total wrap of the fabric. The outside of the XB32 shows fingerprints.
The lighting design is slightly different on the sides of the speaker as well. The XM32 is a smidge wider.
Nice added touch is the added ‘Live’ button to the top panel. This allows you to change the sound setting without having to go into the Sony app.
Sound is as good as ever with rich bass and full sound.
I still don’t get the party booster feature. This is where you can tap the speaker for different instrument sounds. Pretty corny if you ask me, however, it must appeal to some audience if they have brought it back.
You again have the same type of light illumination feature that you can control via the Sony Music Center app or the new Fiestable App. This new app also allows you to change volume, track, play and pause by the movement of your phone.
Battery life still great and With an IP67 rating, your speaker can be dropped in water, which I have done with the XB31 many times at the lake. (Okay, sometimes dip it in the water just to freak someone out :-))
Well, now since I have 2 similar speakers I can now take advantage of the ‘Party Chain’ mode.
This allows you to connect the two speakers to play from the same device. The audio is sometimes a hair off in timing, but if you spread the speakers enough, you may not notice this.
The other feature I was hoping I could use was ‘ADD’ feature. This allow you to add one speaker as a Left channel and the other as a Right channel. However, I could not use this since my models are a year apart which I thought was pretty lame. Apparently, you must have identical model numbers to use this feature.
Overall still a great buy. Very portable, great sound, great battery, waterproof and you can even charge your smartphone from this thing. I highly recommend again this year.

Loud, Great Bass, Nice looking
on April 14, 2019

From the initial box opening you can tell you have a quality made product.
This is my first opportunity to review a Marshall speaker so I have no reference of the other speakers in there line up to compare too.
This Speaker is approx. 9" x 6.5" x 14" and weighs in at almost 11 lb.’s, so not backpack portable.
The classic amp look of this speaker is great. The front is made of a steel mesh grill and the rest is wrapped in a nice black leather like material with durable flush mounted end caps on all corners.. Nice strong flexible handle rounds it off.
This unit is IPX2 Water resistant which means it can handle dripping water at an angle of 15%. So I wouldn’t leave this on in the rain.
Connectivity:
Easy to connect to Bluetooth 5.0. (W/Multi-host Functionality) Simply press and hold the dedicated button on the top and pair with phone. No problems here at all.
You also have aux. jack you could use.
Battery Life:
Box states you get 20 + hours. I have used for 2 days straight before recharging, so that sounds accurate.
Sound:
Tufton is engineered as a 3-Way System, produced sound from three separate devices - a tweeter, mid-range driver, and sub-woofer. Specs: 1 x 40w + 2 x 15W + 1 x 10W
I have to be honest, I have no idea how they get Stereo sound out of this set up. The box states they use the Blumlein stereo technique.
The top of the speaker has the classic Volume, Bass and Treble Controls which I really like.
I had trouble getting good vocals out of the music using the manual controls. I had to crank up the mid-tones in my smartphones EQ to get the sound I liked. This is the only reason for the 4-star rating. I did look for an App on Google Play store for this speaker to perhaps tweak the sound, but no luck at the time of this review.
It appears (As I cannot see inside) they have one mid-range speaker facing the front and one facing the rear of the speaker. I believe this must be how they separate into stereo.
I found that it simply sounds better in a larger room and you’re not sitting right next to the speaker.
That being said. this speaker delivers the boom. Massive bass and can get very loud.
Bottom line;
Only Con - Needs better mid-range (Vocal) sound without having to tweak through EQ.
Pros - High end solid unit, Great Bass, Portable, Great looking with impressive battery life.

This BOOST UP 5W Qi Certified Wireless Charging Pad works as advertised. It is the size of a drink coaster. Very simply but effective.
I have a Samsung Note 8 that I charge with this. In my test yesterday I got approx 20% charge in 1 hour. In 75 min. i went from 73% to 100%.
I am glad that Belkin has come out with a simple charging pad at a good price.

Fantastic Headset

Very Impressive Logitech. This G635 headset is incredible. The sound quality is amazing.
I first tested the microphone and audio quality on a Skype phone call. The fit and sound quality were great. Then on to a movie on the PC to experience the surround sound. Very impressive.
My daughter uses them for PC gaming and loves them. She likes the light settings, but really liked the fact that the book mic activates the mic when pulled down and turns off when flipped up. She is also impressed with the sound quality.
With the mic closed and tucked away you don’t even know it is there. My daughter set it so when you flip it down it activates the lights to change from blue to red and back to blue. You can then pull the mic out about an inch.
These do look a little big, but once on are very comfortable. They appear to be built well.
The left side has a switch to choose between PS and 3.5mm mode. (both cords included)
You then have 3 programmable buttons, a mute button and a nice rotary volume dial.
The G Hub software allow you to create customer profiles for every game you play. Change lights, shortcut keys etc., But most importantly you can change all the surround sound setting.
Okay, would I like to be wireless?..sure, but these are really a great buy and my daughter doesn’t have to remember to charge them ;-). If you must be wireless, try the G935.
I can confidently recommend these headphones

Nice Mid-Range Phone
on March 16, 2019
Posted by: Mukman
from MUKWONAGO,WI
I must say I was happy to have the opportunity to review the Expedia 10 phone by Sony.
In general, I would say this is a very nice mid-range phone. My daily phone is a note 8 so of course it is a step down. But with that said I was impressed with the operation of the phone overall. I do like the size of the phone, it is tall but slender, so it fits well in the hand. This does make for a slightly smaller keyboard than I am used too, but I simply loaded my familiar keyboard, and all was good.
I wont dive too detailed into what is under the hood as you can read those specs in the description. I will say that even though it does not have the most RAM or highest end processor I found that most of the time this phone worked pretty smooth. Once in a while I notices a slight delay compared to my Note 8, but that is to be expected.
The Camera was not as impressive as the rest of the phone. I found a slight delay when attempting to capture some photos. The quality of the rear camera is average, but not great. The front camera again is just okay in good lighting, but low light it really has trouble with. Colors get blow out and pixelated.
Google assistant works well. Just hold the center home button down and tell the assistant what you want to do.
I must say that I am impressed with the side thumbprint reader. I like this better then the placement on my Note 8. Nice job here Sony.
Bluetooth worked fine on every device I connected except my Honda Accord. It took 2 attempts to connect but did work on the second attempt.
Wi-Fi was strong and fast (full 234Mbps down and 12 Mbps up) (I have Spectrum 200 Mbps service)
Data speed on the Verizon network was 33Mbps down and 21 Mbps up.
So, my bottom line on this phone…This is a very nice mid-range phone that would work great for the average user. If you are a power user or demand the best of the best, then not the phone for you.
If the camera was better and it was waterproof, I think this would have been my wife’s next phone, but since we are around water quite a bit in the summer, this just would not work for her.
Pros –
Nice feel
Runs smooth
Side thumbprint Reader
Cons –
Camera
Not waterproof

Fast and Stable

Fast and Stable
This router is fast (716Mhz Quad-core) and I have had no connection issues.
Set up was pretty straight forward. Follow the quick startup guide. This router uses a smartphone app for set-up and management. Hint - you can still get to it using a browser. Simply enter the 192.168.1.1 into your browser and left click on the wireless icon to get you set up the first time.
During the setup I had the app telling me to wait for a Purple light if I remember correctly and I had a flashing blue (Sorry I am trying to remember back a couple weeks) Anyway, I finally just went to the next step without the color change and it worked - Just wanted to provide a heads up.
I did connect my Velop (Mesh) nodes at the same time, it does take a little while, but all worked well.
I recently turned off all the Mesh nodes to provide a fair review of just the unit. I have over 200 Mbps service and when tested upstairs (Ranch style home – 2200 sq. ft) and got pretty good signal throughout. When I went downstairs, same strength. (Not to mention, my router is in a closet in the living area.) When I did a speed test through the Linksys App I got 200 Mbps, but when I tested through the Wi-Fi on my laptop I got about 60 Mbps. I then turned on a Velop node and it went up to 160 Mbps.
Either way, streaming was perfect either way.
So, I would say if you have a 2 story and want to reach the basement, or you are in a heavier congested area, perhaps the mesh system would be great. I will put my node in the garage to get better connection outside.
I really love having the 4 Gigabit LAN ports for extra ethernet connections. I was able to remove 5 port switch from my system as I no longer need it.
I would like to see a little better parental control at the router level. All you can do is really turn on and off a connection.
I have on average 14 devices connected at one time with no issues to date.
Overall, I am happy with this router.

Fast, Lightweight and tough!
on February 12, 2019
Posted by: Mukman
from MUKWONAGO,WI
Premium laptop here. I moved to this LG Gram from a 15 in 2 in 1 Dell. Grant it, this is about 2x the price I paid for the Dell a couple years ago, but it is simply a fabulous machine.
This unit is durable, very light and looks very clean.
Speed:
With the Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB Memory & 512GB Solid State Drive this 2 in 1 really screams.
This is my first run at a laptop with an i7 and I am loving it. It has been very snappy at every task I have thrown at it. Watching Hulu and other videos look great.
Speakers:
Speakers are alright for a thin laptop, located on the bottom toward the front, not real loud, but I usually use Bluetooth headphones or speaker anyway.
Screen:
The high def screen (1920 x 1080) resolution has a great picture and color quality. Text is nice and sharp as well. The screen is made of scratch-proof Corning Gorilla Glass as well, so it is also tough.
Keyboard:
The keyboard has a nice feel with backlit keys. There are 2 brightness settings. I do wish there was a slightly brighter setting though. There is a power button to the right of the ‘Delete’ key and has a great fingerprint reader. This is one of my favorite features.
Connections / Ports:
You get one USB Type C 3.1 port, two USB Type A 3.1 ports and headphone jack. You also have an HDMI Standby button and mini SD card slot. Thank you LG for at least 2 standard USB slots!
Power plug feels slightly wimpy. I worry about long term durability. LG could take a page out of Dells book here and use a larger connection with light up cord.
Battery Life:
Battery life is fantastic. I have not used it consistently for a whole day, but I believe it will go 7-8 hours.
Pen:
LG bundles its Stylus Pen to help you handle all your writing and drawing needs. This pen functions very well and it a nice add on for tablet mode. The only drawback is there is no place to store it. Not sure why companies overlook this feature.
Wi-Fi:
The Wi-Fi is fantastic. Did a test on my home Wi-Fi and got a full 200+ Mbps download.
Pros:
Light Weight
Fast
Great battery life
Tough
Included Pen
Cons:
Maybe the keys could light up a little more.
Power plug feels slightly wimpy. I worry about long term durability.
No Pen attachment
Conclusion:
I hope I didn’t miss anything in the review above. I will say this is a great, lightweight and tough 2-in-1 laptop. Great for personal or business use. Normally you get either power and all the extra’s but have to settle for terrible battery life, with this LG gram you get it all with excellent battery life.
I would highly recommend.

In the top tier
on January 17, 2019
Posted by: Mukman
from MUKWONAGO,WI
These Jaybirds are riding up there in the top tier of ear buds in my opinion.
FIT - These buds come with nice soft gel/silicone tips. You have a few size choices to choose from. Personally I wish they came with an over shape tip as well as I personally have more success with that shape. However, to my surprise, they fit well and are quite comfortable.
SOUND - Back to my comment above, the oval shape usually fit my ear the best offering the best fit and therefore sound quality.
To my surprise these do a great job. At first I was not getting them fit properly. Once I pushed in just enough with a slight twist forward I get a nice seal to the ear and then the Bass pops in nicely.
Overall sound is very natural and well balanced.
If you need to tweak to fit your style, the Jaybird App has a nice EQ to help you with that.
CALL quality is very good. No complaints from the people on the other end as well.
CONTROLS are very common three button style; Power, Volume up and Volume down which also provide the Skip function. The only thing I miss is a status light. Just looking at these, you have no idea if they are on or off.
USER EXPERIENCE has been very nice. What I like the best about these over others ear buds I own is how darn light they are. You almost forget they are there. I was a little hesitant when I saw these because they have the control unit only on one side. I typically like this more balanced (Maybe battery pack on other side) so the weight is even and they don't continually want to slide one way. Well good news, they are so light that this is really minimized, and once I put the collar clip on…problem solved.
BATTERY consumption is great. I use all day between pod casts and calls and they have yet to come close to running out of juice. They charge fast as well.
Side note – At first I was bummed about another proprietary charging cable, but completely understand they need to do this to keep them waterproof.
PROS:
Light weight
Sound quality
Battery life
Waterproof
Fast Charge
Good fit
IMPROVEMENTS IN MY HUMBLE OPINION:
Add indicator light so we know the status (On/Off)
Optional Oval silicone tips
Bottom line, I like the ear fit of my Jabra Elite slightly better, but like the weight and balance of these better. I will say these have been my go-to pair as of late.

Very nice Dual Camera HD Dash Cam
on January 10, 2019
Posted by: Mukman
from MUKWONAGO,WI
This is my first ever Dash Cam. This V1P Pro offers a lot of nice features, such as front and back camera’s with nice HD 170° ultra-wide-angle lenses. It offers loop recording, Wi-Fi interface for viewing on you smart phone, built in GPS logger and even collision detection.
Reviews:
INSTALL - Install went pretty smoothly. I have a 2017 Honda Accord. I simply used the furnished plastic tool to help me snake the cables behind the rubber seal that goes around all the interior panels. I mounted on the top left corner of the windshield to keep it out of my center view.
(This is a fairly large unit even in the top left, but I am getting used to it over time.)
Cable are plenty long.
Before sticking the mounts to the windshield I powered up the unit to make sure my orientation and line of sight was all correct. (I highly recommend this as it would be difficult to remove the adhesive once it is in place). The Back cam has a nice up and down swivel adjustment and the front camera lens is on a ball and socket type of swivel to get the best angle. I was a little worried about getting a good picture since my windshield curves in where I mounted it, but the lens moved enough to get a good angle. I only used 2 of the windshield clips on the cords where they exit the roof liner, otherwise I found by disconnecting cables to remove the unit I would pull the cables back out of the roof liner. I did install a 64 MB mini SD card for storage (not included). 64MB will get you 7-10 hours of recording depending on the camera resolution – 128MB - 14-20 hours
Overall a pretty smooth install. I would say maybe 30 Minutes.
OPERATION – I’m the kind of guy that does not want to pull out a Manual, but I did find and needed to for this unit. The menus and button control have a small learning curve. I would say that the user interface could use a cleanup, or add a couple more hardware buttons. I found myself leaving the manual in the car in case I needed it for reference.
Once you have this system installed, all you do is forget about it. You start your car and it starts recording automatically.
You can select from a couple of different resolution setting for the front and back camera, and you also have the choice of turning the microphone off so it will record no audio. Another option you have is turning the screen saver on. I set mine to turn the screen off after 1 minute. I did not have this ON at first and it got awfully annoying at night to have a bright screen lit up in your field of view.
Speaking of field of view…There is a red light that flashes behind the center two buttons while powered ON (indicates RECORD mode). I do wish you could disable this as this bright red LED behind these button shows up in the gap between these buttons and shine in your eye, (mostly noticeable at night). Not a huge deal, but I do find annoying.
I did have a little trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi of my phone, my phone’s said I was not connected, but when I looked at the head unit it stated I actually was though and connection was made.
PLAYBACK – You can view videos on your smart phone using the Wi-Fi connection and the ‘Rexing Connect’ APP, or you can view on your PC.
To playback your video’s on your PC you can remove your SD card to transfer the files, or plug your front camera unit into your computer via the USB cord. Either way, playback will be faster and more stable if you transfer your videos to your hard drive before viewing.
Now you simply download the GPS Logger Software from Rexings website and install. (Side note – When I first started the software, all the menus were in Chinese, but once I closed and reopened the software it then changed to English). Once you install the software, you simply open the video file(s) you would like to view. The playback shows, the video (front OR back Cam) along with speed, date, time, longitude and latitude and even a speed curve. There are also areas for G- Sensor data and Acceleration. (These were blank on my viewing, perhaps this is only populated after a crash).
I would like the ability to view the video from the front and back cameras at the same time. I could only find a way to view one camera at a time.
OVERVIEW / FINAL THOUGHTS –
PROS:
Once set up, easy to use (Fairly easy set up in my case)
Nice picture quality from both cameras – Day and night
Decent Software showing all basic info
GPS
Video Looping
Wide angle lens
CONS:
Flashing red light under buttons (maybe being a little picky here)
Pretty large front camera unit
User interface could be cleaner
Unable to playback both camera views through software
No Battery (must be plugged in for power)
Overall, I am pretty happy with this unit. The cons stated above do not affect the basic function of what this unit is meant to do..Capture video.
If you are in the market for a dash cam, I would not hesitate to recommend this one.
I personally don’t NEED one, but it sure give you a sense of security knowing if something happens, you have record of the facts

Great little speaker
on December 24, 2018
Posted by: Mukman
from MUKWONAGO,WI
This Soundcore Flare portable Bluetooth speaker is a great value.
Sound is remarkable for the size and price point.
Paired up easily. App download was also very simple.
The app gives you the ability to tweak the sound and light settings and also play/pause the music.
When I messed with the EQ the sound seemed to get much worse; lost all bass etc. I ended up putting it back to the normal default setting which sounds the best anyway.
Lights are fun and there are many lighting choices (Party Chill Energy, Bedtime and Spring) All of which you can refine even further to color choices and how the lights react. This has become a trend with many Bluetooth speakers. Not real important to me, just give me great sound and simple operation.
The outside has a nice feel, very similar to old speaker coverings of the past. Love the fact that it is waterproof as well.
You can also buy a second speaker and sync it for stereo use, and at this price I might just do that.
Battery life is great as well. Ran for at least 10 hours before re-charge and it was not fully dead yet.
There are 5 buttons on top; Play, Vol +, Vol -, Lights, Bass. Only the play and Bass buttons light up. I would prefer they all did.
Pros:
Sound
Portable size
Waterproof
Price
Battery Life
Cons:
Non back lit Play Vol+, Vol- buttons
Bottom line, worth every penny. Best i have tested for a $60 speaker

What is the typical battery life?

Can't locate this info in the Spec's or General info?
I have to say the battery life is the best I have had. I plug it in at night and unplug it in the morning when I take it to work. Grant it I don't use it a lot at work since it is my personal laptop, but I have had no problem with running out of battery all day. For instance, I used it this morning to stream music for an hour, then put it to sleep when I took it to work. Used it a couple times briefly and now have been browsing the net at dinner time an I have 1hr 45 min remaining according to the battery indicator. Oh, and this is at 100% screen brightness, so if you turn that down, you will gain more time for sure.
