Two gritty tales of the unforgiving criminal underworld in Brazil are packaged together in this special set. Often hailed as one of the crowning achievements in cinema in the new millennium, Fernando Meirelles's 2002 crime drama City of God details the growth of organized crime in Rio de Janeiro and its effect on the disenfranchised youth of the city. The massive international success of the film bred a television series spinoff, and a film encapsulating that series - City of Men, directed by Paulo Morelli, detailing a rival drug gang war and two 18 year old boys caught in the crossfire.
I love martial arts movies. The first time I saw this movie, I wasn't sold on it. I think I was trying to compare it to The Raid: Redemption or something. I tripped up on a review of this movie recently that I thought was extremely high and so I decided to watch it again. After watching a 2nd time, I ran out and bought it for my collection! The action is ridiculous!
I thought this was a really good movie... even better the second time I watched it. I would recommend that you pay attention because there's a lot going on and everything isn't what it seems.
