Better Than Average D.C. Movie

I'd read quite a bit about this movie before I purchased it, so I knew what some of the twists the story line had taken when compared with other D.C. Comics films. Suffice it to say that this is NOT your typical Superhero movie...but it IS excellent!! I can honestly say that I enjoyed this more than any recent D.C release. I won't spoil anything here with this review. You'll just have to catch this one and see for yourself.
Aside from some minor banding, which is common to 99% of the D.C Animation releases, the picture looks just fine. The DTS 5.1 MA Audio track is surprisingly aggressive and immersive in spots and suits the movie well.
If you're a D.C fan..do yourself a favor and, at least, give this a rent. I made a blind purchase strictly on reviews I'd read...and I'm glad I did.

I'd read lots of great reviews about this movie...and they all do it justice. I'm a sci-fi/horror fan and this movie legitimately creeped me out. It's not overtly gory, but it's incredibly intense.
The picture and sound on this disc are great, and serve the movie very well.
If you're a horror movie buff, you owe it to yourself to pick up this movie and add it to your collection without hesitation. I think you'll be really glad you did.

I was excited when the movie "Monsters" came out in 2010. I'd heard what a great movie it was..especially because if the tiny budget it was made on. Director Gareth Edwards hadn't done much up to that point, but he got some notoriety for his visionary work on this film. Of course, he went on the direct the blockbuster version of "Godzilla" in 2014, and he has a "Star wars" project in the works before making a sequel to "Godzilla" in 2017.
Unfortunately, he didn't have a hand in making this sequel to "Monsters"..and it shows. The movie tends to be all over the place as far as character development and action sequences go. If the movie had just been a war movie....or just a movie with 200 foot monsters in it and soldiers battling them...then it might have been really cool. As is, though, it's a bit of a mess.
Technically, though, the disc is superb. The audio and video quality is outstanding. If you saw this movie during it's limited theatrical run, you'll be very happy with this disc.
If you didn't see the original "Monsters", though, this movie really won't make any sense.
I'd have to rate this movie as something for fans only...but would give very good technical marks to the disc.

I saw this movie during it's theatrical run and thought it was good...but not great. A co-worker of mine asked if it was any good, and i told him that I thought it was at least worth seeing.
I have to honestly say that I enjoyed the movie more upon second viewing, because the 3D blu-ray is simply stunning. The eye-popping visuals are even more so in 3D, and i found myself just enjoying the film that much more.
The Dolby Atmos soundtrack ( core 7.1 ) is extremely aggressive and is reference quality through and through. If you're looking for a good demo disc to show off your home theatre, you won't go wrong choosing this one.

I've been a huge Shania Twain Fan since she released her "Come On Over" Album. That album was a HUGE Pop/Country crossover smash and is still a great listen even today. I was really excited when I found out that she had signed up for a residency at Caesar's Palace in Vegas. I loved her live show "Up-Live in Chicago", but knew that her Vegas Show would be something special. Whether or not you had the chance to see the Vegas Show, this Blu-Ray is a real treat. The picture quality is STUNNING and is truly the next best thing to seeing it live. Actually, the camera work is so good on this disc, that you can see lots of details you simply couldn't see on the huge stage at Caesar's Palace. Shania sounds better than she did back in 1999, and her backup singers, band, and dancers, are all simply superb. If you're lucky enough to have a great surround system, crank this baby up!!!! Two audio options are offered...an LPCM 2-Channel mix, and a DTS 5.1 Master Audio Surround Mix. The LPCM Mix is surprisingly good for what it is, but it simply can't compare to the DTS version. Suffice it to say that I smiled for an hour and 25 minutes once I put this disc in my Blu-Ray Player. You'll be doing yourself a MAJOR disservice if you pass this disc by. It IS something truly special. Once it's over, you'll be saying to yourself..."Yep...She's Still The One ".

Denzel Fans Will Love This Movie

This movie is supposedly a loose remake of the TV Series of the same name that starred Michael Chiklis back about 20 yrs. I don't recall being a fan of that series, but even if you weren't..and you're a Denzel Washington fan..you should give this movie a spin. I won't give away any plot details or things like that. Suffice it to say that it's a standard drama/action flick with some 'by the numbers" characters. Nevertheless, the ending act where Denzel takes on the bad guys in a "Home Depot" type store shows some real creative ways to bump off bad guys a-la "Home Alone". Be advised, though, this film has a VERY high violence/gore quotient and TONS of bad language. If you're easily offended by that kind of stuff, this film isn't for you.
Technically, the blu-ray is superb. The movie has lots of dark scenes, and the disc never resorts to crush or bad black levels. Faces are clearly distinguishable, and some of the neon signs and city lights have an almost 3-D quality to them. The DTS-HD MA Audio track is wonderful. It's agressive and loud when needed, but never drowns out the dialog. The low end is forceful and deep when called for, and discrete surround effects are plentiful and realistic. The blu-ray also features a "Vengeance Mode" that allows you to watch the film normally till Denzel is shown in an action sequence. The film pauses after the sequence and Denzel and Director Robert McCall show you how the sequence was shot. It's interesting, but interrupts the flow of the film.
Please be aware, though, that this movie does NOT come supplied with a DVD version. It's a Blu-ray/Digital HD release. No matter....Blu-Ray renders DVD useless anyway..and this type of film is best viewed on as large a screen as possible with the volume turned up so the neighbors complain. I recommend this film as a blind purchase if your a fan. All others will probably be happy with a rental.

Great Sequel, but a bit overlong.

First of all, if you didn't see the prequel to this film, 'The Raid: Redemption" then seeing this film will totally confuse you. Good thing is that you can watch them back to back and have one LONG movie, and the events of this movie take place right after the events in "Redemption". This movie combines stunning fight scenes with brutal violence. If you have a weak stomach or a faint heart, then this movie isn't for you. This movie could have had 20 minutes or so trimmed from it, as it clocks in at 150 minutes. It lags a bit here and there as a result.
The picture quality on this blu-ray is outstanding..especially considering the fact that a lot of the film is shot with hand-held cameras to allow good quality action scenes. The DTS-MA 5.1 soundtrack is immersive and forceful. You can feel every bone crack and fist blow, and gunshots ring out with commanding presence. There are several language options with subtitles available, as well. I personally preferred the Indonesian track with English subs, but that's just my personal preference. There is an English Dubbed track also, for those that don't care for subtitles. The subtitled tracks seemed to have richer sound than the English dubbed track, and, as always, the dubbing doesn't match the mouth movements. Also, the English track seemed to sound a bit "hollow" or "canned" in the dialog. Nevertheless, if you're not super critical about such things, you'll probably enjoy the English track just fine.
Regardless of which track you listen to, stay FAR away from the DVD version of this movie. The DVD is a lousy 480p pressing with a VERY puny sounding soundtrack. if you're a fan of this genre, this film is a good choice to add to your collection...and it also has some very cool home theater demo moments.

I missed this movie in theatres earler this year, so being the fan of disaster movies that I am, I was anxious to get the Blu-Ray and give it a spin at home. Technically, the movie is great. Picture is as expected of a new release. The 5.1 DTS MA Soundtrack is amazing. If you have a good home theatre and want to show it off, this is a great disc to do it with. Aside from the lead actor, Richard Armitage, the movie is filled with stereotype characters that make dumb decisions that cause them to get injured or killed. The movie is also another of the "found footage" type, with nearly every character having a camcorder or cell phone "filming" everything. Nevertheless, I thought the film was entertaining enough for at least a rental. My rating is based solely on the fact that the disc is technically superb.

This is a good keyboard for basic computer use. The keys are laid out intelligently, and it has some useful shortcut keys, as well. There are keyboards that perform as well, for a few bucks less, but if you're in a Best Buy and you realize you could use a new keyboard..you won't be disappointed with this one.

Better than average home invasion flick

If you're a fan of the home invasion genre, this is a good choice for a purchase or rental. The acting is good, the gore quotient is pretty high, and there's a twist about 3/4 of the way into the film that you won't see coming.
The picture quality on the Blu-Ray is very good, considering how many dark scenes there are in the film. The DTS 5.1 MA soundtrack is pretty aggressive with good surround activity and some good low bass. I saw a screener of this on DVD and rest assured that the Blu-Ray version blows it's DVD counterpart totally away. Horror movie fans will definitely not be disappointed if they add this Blu-Ray to their collection.
