An interesting choice for blu-ray mastering

Pete's Dragon was one of the first films to showcase the animation talents of Don Bluth, who went on to produce the famous laser disc games Dragon's Lair and Space Ace, as well as the classic animated films A Land Before Time, An American Tail, and the not so memorable Rock-A-Doodle and Pebble & The Penguin.
Pete's Dragon was released in the general post-Disney malaise of the late 70's, and perhaps a better choice for blu-ray release of a Disney live-action/animated film might have been Mary Poppins (which IS getting a blu-ray release)...which is perhaps why this might be a release to grab. Just because it is a more obscure title, though it falls into a typical formula for Disney live-action/animated stories, with strongly-stereotyped characterizations, highly predictable plot, and the prerequisite musical numbers.
However, it seems to hold the interest of our 4-year old daughter, so as long as it reaches a new audience, then it is worth a purchase.

What's great about it: Seldom seem classic from Disney's less prolific days
What's not so great: Actual movie is not quite masterpiece material

The bottom touch screen allows you to tap, swipe and draw your way through your in-game adventures with the included stylus. The 3DS also brings you a multifaceted photography suite so you can take photos in 3D, edit them and add some Nintendo charm.StreetPass and SpotPass connect your 3DS with other players and wireless hotspots, allowing you to partake in unique multiplayer experiences and get bonus content for several of the games you enjoy.

The Nintendo 3DS XL offers all the features of the 3DS, but with a much larger screen, which makes it far easier to play portable games, and to see the 3D effect. It comes with the drawback of being an overall larger unit, and is a bit unwieldy to hold and carry with you. But with the great games available for the system, this is something that can be overlooked.

What's great about it: bigger screen, lots of games, online store
What's not so great: Harder to hold/carry, 3D not suitable for children 6 and under, yet many games are made for younger kids
