If you're a fan of anthologies or Amicus films in general, this is in fact THE release to get... if you don't already have Tales from the Crypt / Vault of Horror. I'll just assume you do and you've probably settled for subpar DVD versions of The House that Dripped Blood up to this point. At long last you can enjoy one of their best (if least bloody) portmanteau films at the best its ever looked!

PG-13 horror movies are not something I gravitate towards, but after hearing Insidious (and The Conjuring, another James Wan film) were worth looking into, I thought I'd give it a shot. Yes, there are tons of jump scares, but Wan creates a mood of unease that sustains throughout. The third film was part of a "buy one, get one", so once I've seen the second, I'll check that out, too.

I don't hear Catch Me if You Can mentioned a lot when people bring up Spielberg's mid-2000s output, and that's a shame. I'm at the point now where I prefer it to The Terminal, and pairing up Tom Hanks with Leonardo DiCaprio (and, to a lesser degree, Christopher Walken) keeps the breezy tone a little better grounded.

Even lesser caliber Steven Spielberg is worth checking out, and while it's not going to be your go-to 4k demo disc, there's a nice uptick from the included Blu-ray. Also, for Mr. Show fans, you get to see Bob and David onscreen (together) in a Spielberg film.

If you already have the 45th Anniversary edition of The Sound of Music, you're good. This is the exact same movie disc with the exact same transfer and extras. The only new addition is a second disc where Julie Andrews escorts you around Austria and revisits filming locations. If you don't have The Sound of Music or haven't seen it, go ahead and buy this one. You won't regret it!

It's a toss up between Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein for my favorite Mel Brooks film. As I didn't really need the Mel Brooks boxed set, this is the most recent release of Young Frankenstein. I'm not sure if I had the last one (or the one before that), so I couldn't tell you what's new. Like Spaceballs, it seems like a new version comes out every other year with one or two new bells and whistles. I bought this one because I inexplicably found myself without a copy of a movie that makes me laugh every single time I watch it. That's good enough for me!

If you aren't planning on watching Coraline in 3-D, this is your best bet. There are fancier editions of Coraline out there, but if you just want the film with its original extras and no accoutrements, pick up this edition. The movie is still fantastic and will horrify your children (in a good way), so for budget minded parents, look no further.
Stories of suspense and the supernatural were presented in this 80s anthology series by executive producer George Romero. This multi-disc release collects every episode from the spooky series.

Fans of Tales from the Darkside who held out buying the individual sets, your patience has paid off. Now you can have the entire series in one box, but be careful: if I have one complaint about this complete series, it's that the case all of the discs are in is prone to having at least one pop loose when you open it for the first time. They sit loosely in a plastic binder - if you've seen the Beavis and Butt-head set or the Star Trek: Enterprise set, you'll know what I mean. The discs are the same as the original sets, so be prepared for the replaced music on some episodes, but it's a set that eats up less space at a price that won't break the bank.

Exodus is an unusual movie - well made, but strangely cast, with tangents that don't often make sense, but as a modern counterpoint to the epic Ten Commandments, it's a movie you should check out. The 3D is impressive, and this version includes an in depth making of documentary that the 2D disc does not.

Depending on what you're in the mood for, this 3 film collection should scratch your Scorsese itch. You can always go with Goodfellas, his 1990 masterpiece, on an older but still perfectly watchable disc. If you'd like more modern crime, try The Departed. Not in the mood for gangsters? Watch his ode to Hollywood's golden age, The Aviator. For the price, it's a steal!
