If my TV has a 1/8" jack, can I hook it to the speaker, i.e. does the speaker have a 1/8" jack for a direct link?
No 1/8" plug. I guess that's the major downfall of the onyx it is Bluetooth only. I would research an adapter that you can connect to the TV that would transmit Bluetooth to a speaker. Good luck on your hunting.

Which speaker has the best sound?
Which of these has the best sound...Bose SoundLink Mini Portable Bluetooth Speaker or SONOS -PLAY:3 Wireless Speaker or Harman Kardon - Onyx Studio Portable Bluetooth Speaker?
Pound for pound. Or should I say dollar for dollar The Harman Kardon was my pick. I auditioned a whole cast of the speakers including the above listed and I chose The Onyx for its excellent sound quality as well as being in a very good price point.
I'm not having any regrets from my purchase.

How can I change the battery?
The battery does not last as long as advertised. Possibly the battery needs replacing, even though I just bought these speakers...? So if anyone knows how to change the batter I would appreciate hearing from you...

can we play a mp3 from a laptop with this speaker? Ipaired the bluetooth to the laptop but cant hear any music
Yes, go through the system setup on pc search while making the onyx discoverable"follow manual to make onyx recognizable" select onyx from pull down menu. Make sure to select as audio out. Hope this helps.
