plugged this into my tablet right out of the box. connects, but does not have any dvd playback software on the install cd. got online and downloaded my own software to resolve. $30 for a usb dvd player is just about right. Not too loud, doesn't get too hot.$50 more and they sell a bluray model with the software built in. I would recommend the blu ray model over the dvd most likely.
