I am a fan of the "Ghost in the Shell" anime, and if you have not yet seen any you will really enjoy this one. The camera work and the technology that they used really brought to life how futuristic the city looked in the original anime. (Much like the original "Blade Runner" but not as dark.) If you are a fan you might not like it as much as the original. Try to keep an open mind and watch it for it's own merit. You like me will probably find something "off" about it. Some scenes will be very familiar but something will not be quite right. I found that was the case often in the movie. The director of the original anime; Manoru Oshi, told the director Rupert Sanders to make it his own, and not to worry about how he made his anime. It's information like that, that you will find in the bonus material to explain why it's not quite right. P.S. I think that "Beat" Takeshi Kitano made a great chief of section 9.

I got this basically because it looked a little different. It starts out on the slow side, and just when I was thinking it wasn't worth it, it got a little bit more interesting. It is a little different, and there is a twist that you might not expect near the end, but this is a type of movie that is more the Syfy channel's material. Wait for it to go on sale.

I was looking for a war movie and this one looked a little bit different. I knew a little bit about the early years of the Soviet Union and this shows what Stalin did to the Ukrainian people. So this is based on history where possibly up to 10 million people died. This is what happens when the people in charge demand that "everybody must give their fair share". Recently the Russians were at it again with the Ukrainians.

This was a good Jackie Chan movie. He tries to play his character a little bit more serious than some of the others. But the slapstick and his comedy still comes through. I think the Chinese never want to miss a chance to make fun of the Japanese because of World War II. That being said some of the things that they did during the filming were pretty amazing. I especially liked the bonus material because it explained how they did the special effects, some of which I had trouble figuring out during the movie.
