This was an impulse purchase and I'm glad I bought it. Good little remake with enough of a departure to make it fresh yet retains enough of the original core of the story to make it relatable to those of us who liked the original.

I've purchased this movie several times over the years, starting with VHS and all the way up to BD. This is the best the film has ever looked on any home video format. Definitely worth the upgrade!

I must admit I wasn't a fan of the new Star Wars film. The music, long a trademark in the SW saga, seemed to be serviceable but was not really a standout like some of the other themes Williams has done for the seven-film saga.
After listening to the CD I liked the music a little more but I felt that the film was missing a theme akin to E1's "Duel of the Fates." Even E2's "Beyond the Stars" was more sweeping and elegant than anything on this disc.

While "Greystoke" has aged moderately well since its release 32 years ago, the blu ray of this film looks pretty good. Rick Baker's fantastic ape makeup is the best part of this production, followed by the performances of a young Christopher Lambert and Ian Holm as his Belgian mentor.
Director Hugh Hudson took Burroughs' pulp novel ideas of Tarzan and tried to craft something akin to Downton Abbey. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not so much. But I still love it for the grand experiment that it was.

This is one of my favorite movies; the blu-ray does the cinematography justice. The transfer is the best this film has ever looked and the studio finally got a home video release of this film exactly right. They could have done with a few more extra features, but otherwise it's a great effort for a wonderful family film.
