Useful for focusing; battery life terrible

I bought this monitor to use with my A7S ii. It is a sharp monitor with some useful features like S-log view where it allows you to film in S-log without viewing in S-log. I am giving it 4 stars for 3 reasons:
1. While the screen is much better for focusing than the rear LCD on the A7Sii, it is still not as sharp and easy to determine focus as a Panasonic GH4 or G7 rear touchscreen LCD.
2. The battery life is not great and there is no indicator other than the indicator turning from green to red when near depletion.
3. Finally at $699, it is not a great value with the Atomos Ninja Assassin now selling at $995. I bought this because I had a ton of rewards certificates to apply and don't need to record in giant file formats as on the Atomos.
I would recommend it for those who need better visibility for focusing.

Pistol grip head for use with another tripod

I purchased these to replace the head unit for a sturdier Sunpak tripod unit. The legs on this tripod are very cheaply made and flimsy, but the head unit is decent for the price. On the other hand, the head unit for the PlatinumPlus Ultra 7000 is horrible while the legs are solid, so I threw out the legs on this tripod to use the head with the PlatinumPlus Ultra 7000.

Great value drive fast enough for 4K video backup

I purchased 2 of these drives at different points when they were on sale for about $250. These are not the fastest drives, like the Samsung 850 Pro, nor is the warranty as long (3 years vs. 10 for Samsung), but I have found these drives are very reliable. Usually with SSDs, if they aren't DOA or die soon after initial use, they tend to last because there are no moving parts.
I use these to back up 4K videos of my kids' events, so I am not constantly writing to them as may be the case for many people, so I cannot comment on reliability from normal use, but they are tremendous value for backups.

I do believe this will become the norm in the future, but it reminds me of the first iPhone. Really convenient as a notification device but not yet useful enough in terms of making a deep impact in your day to day life like your phone. I accept it more as an extension of my phone and a remote control when your phone is in your pocket.

I purchased 2 of these during a 4 hour sale at $119 to store kids' 4K video files. They are great to use as backup drives on a removable SSD device so you can swap them as needed. They aren't as fast as a Samsung EVO Pro or Sandisk Extreme Pro, but they serve the purpose at a fraction of the cost. Would highly recommend.
