Classic Album Reissued
on October 23, 2013

Classic 3xlp from Boards of Canada reissued in 2013. Third LP is one sided and contains an etching on the reverse.
Greeted with an initial lack of enthusiasm among some listeners who found the record to be 'more of the same,' critically and among the fanbase the album was warmly recieved.
Pared down from an extraordinary 90+ tracks to a total of 23 (one of which is silence), Geogaddi has been described by Boards of Canada as:
"a record for some sort of trial-by-fire, a claustrophobic, twisting journey that takes you into some pretty dark experiences before you reach the open air again. It has a kind of narrative."
Described in early interviews by Michael Sandison as "[reflecting] a chaotic period in [their] personal lives" (OOR, 2002), the brothers have subsequently admitted that the turmoil of the 9/11 terrorist attacks significantly influenced the tone and direction of Geogaddi. Said Michael Sandison:
"Geogaddi was kind of exorcising demons, and even after we'd set out to do a record like that, smack in the middle of working on it, 9/11 happened. I remember there were a few of us in the studio that day, and we just ended up glued to the TV for the whole day. I think the months after that pushed us into making a darker record, as I'm sure it did with a lot of bands." (Play Louder, 2005)
The controversial nature of Geogaddi, however, has more to do with the 'lyrical' content of the album than with its style or context. The hidden elements (back masked vocals, voices embedded deeply into the mix, etc.), while often present in their previous output, abound in unprecedented numbers on Geogaddi. The subjects addressed in these vocal samples range anywhere from the occult to the mathematical to the possibly satanic.

Great collection of songs from prolific artist

Superb collection of singles from the late prolific musician Jay Reatard. All of the songs are great. I prefer these singles to the later ones from Matador and even the preceding LP Blood Visions.
Highly recommended and a steal for the price of a single LP.

This album is fantastic. Its melodic and heavy and really moves well despite some of the song lengths. Great package. 45rpm yellow and pink vinyl for the 2nd pressing.

Swans return

The return of SWANS. Very awesome record. Somewhat short but M Gira is able to get the point across very quickly both in dynamic composition and smart, pertinent lyrics. Vinyl sounds crisp and mastered evenly. Packaging is perfect. Definitely a steal for $11.99. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great music, ok package, poor master

This is a great record. However the lack of gatefold packaging and poor mastering deliver an inferior product to the original Arista vinyl issue. When things get loud or intense, the sound begins to become muddy and noisy almost like a bad CD master. I wouldnt be surprised if this is actually a CD transfer. Sonic purists stay away, however the price of $16.99 is decent for a set that often runs $20+ in some stores.
