The reviewers who don’t like this movie are the very people Maher is satirizing in the film. Even if you are religious, you should be able to find this film funny and enjoyable as long as you are smart enough and open-minded enough to accept the fact that all faiths are based on stories that have been passed down for thousands of years, and that no one knows for sure what lies beyond the physical universe. Everyone has their own set of beliefs and no one on this earth will ever know the truth, so we should all be accepting of other’s faiths and stop wasting so much time and energy hating each other – this is the message that Maher makes clear at the end of the film.
What's great about it: Makes you think, and it's funny
A haunting and transcendent meditation on life and the passing of time, director Kim Ki-Duk's Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring arrives on DVD in beautiful, albeit bare-bones, form from Columbia/TriStar Home Entertainment. The image is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and sports lush colors with even skin tones and little evidence of digital artifacting or edge enhancement. Audio is offered in Korean Dolby Digital 5.1 with sparse dialogue accompanied by bold, easy-to-read yellow subtitles. Though there are no extra features aside from a handful of previews, the visual presentation on this release is exceptional, making it a notable addition to the collection of any avid foreign-film fan.

Excellent, but not for everybody

I would highly recommend this movie to someone who can appreciate a movie for its cinematography, plot, and metaphors; not just for blood, stunts, and explosions. The movie has very little dialogue and almost no music, but it is nonetheless riveting. The movie takes place on an isolated lake and - because of the lack of dialogue and music - you are forced to pay attention and are thus pulled into the stunning environment.
What's great about it: Fantastic visuals, metaphorical plot
What's not so great: Some people may find it boring
