Regina Spektor has a refreshing sound to offer her fans in comparison to her peers within a relatively uncreative state of the current music industry. American, European and Mediterranean sounds influence her music, and throughout the length of the album, the songs resemble more of a colorful music bouquet of pop, rock, folk, jazz, world and even polka. Regina doesn't seem to feel the need to conform to anyone's terms but her own -- evident in everything from her unexpected rhyme schemes to the unique ways she uses her vocal chords. Regina reminds us that the voice really is an instrument of its own, and she certainly uses hers to create. I highly recommend this album to anyone who can appreciate a new, invigorating sound.
