Doc Watson is always a joy to listen to.

I had one of these in vinyl, but could never find it on CD. So it was nice to get both together on one CD. Plus I like hearing different versions of songs that add a little different sound or style. The live renditions are pleasant to listen to also.
What's great about it: Good picking by a great artist.

Beginning in 1964, the BBC launched a highly popular Sherlock Holmes series, adapted from the classic detective novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with Douglas Wilmer as Holmes and Nigel Stock as Dr. Watson. This compilation set presents, back to back, thirteen of the fifteen episodes from the original series - everything except for The Bruce-Partington Plans and The Abbey Garage, which reportedly no longer exist. Highlights include The Copper Beeches, The Red-Headed League, The Speckled Band, The Six Napoleons and The Man with the Twisted Lip.

A different look @ Holmes & Watson was enjoyable.

Enjoyed the comradeship between Wilmer and Stock as Holmes & Watson. The settings were good and a lot of pipe smoking in these episodes. Overall it was almost as good as watching Rathbone & Bruce, but not quite. If you have seen Rathbone & Bruce so many times that you need a break, this is the collection to get. Jeremy Brett & his 2 Watsons were great also I thought and that was a very good series also. The Wilmer/Stock set is definitely worth the time and money.
