Narfxj's Reviews

John Irvin's World War II drama When Trumpets Fade comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. English and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. There are no subtitles, but the English soundtrack is closed-captioned. Supplemental materials are limited to biographies of the talented young cast that includes Martin Donovan, Ron Eldard, and Frank Whaley. This HBO/Rysher disc does a fine job of presenting this made-for-cable film.

Awesome War Movie

Before Private Ryan and Band of Brothers there was When Trumpets Fade. I love action movies, mysteries, and pretty much anything with blood and guts, though I am not a fan of war movies. This was the first war movie I could sit through without wanting to change the channel. It was well thought out and the visuals of the mess war is truely put you in the field.
I would recommend this to a friend!
