This is not a typical Gilliam film. There is nothing typical about any of his films even if certain critics like to say so. He always goes for the unusual which is all you can say to catagorize them. The DVD transfer was done beautifully. The color composition in each scene was done with special care by those who understand not only what Mr. Gilliam wants, but what the audience should expect. Each time you step inside that miracle mirror you find such marvelous and imaginative scenes. It is unfortunate that Mr. Ledger was not able to finish the wonderful job he began, but again using his special imagination, Mr. Gilliam has performed a small miracle. Also, many thanks must be given to Jonny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell for not only capturing Mr. Ledger's on screen personality, but for doing it as a special dedication for him and his daughter who benefited since they turned their salary over to her. One can only hope that when she is old enough she will realize what a special and talented father she had for such a short time. The extras add to this special film and just watching Mr. Ledger clown around during a wardrobe test is worth 'the price of admission' alone to the doctor's Imaginarium.
What's great about it: Completely imaginative and original.
