Great Headset (over Bluetooth)
on January 17, 2012
Posted by: Bear64501
from Kansas City, MO
To tell you the truth a pair of wireless headphones was the last thing I want, I had no need for them… That being said… I was wrong.
These Things are great! I use them a lot more than I ever expected.
The good (great things) about them:
Sound quality (over Bluetooth): I think these things sound great. From reading other reviews I had read that the sound quality was not the best for this kind of music or that kind of music, so I tried it on a few different types. So I synced it to my iPod’s Bluetooth, and I first tried it out on some quieter acoustic things, listening to some Avett Brothers… no complaints. Some complaints came up about hissing in other reviews, but nothing there. I tested it a little further with something more complex: Kanye West’s “Gone”… The song switches between bass, quiet pianos, deep strings, high strings, etc… all sounded great. Sure the bass was not as rich as what it would be on a pair of Skullcandy Aviators, or Beats, but Logitech does not claim it will be as rich. I will warn that all my music is streamed through Spotify, so it is not CD quality, but when comparing the exact same audio coming through multiple devices (headphones, car radio, surround sound) the headphones are just as good if not better.
Sound is also great with speech. Listening to audiobooks, podcasts, even phone calls… all good quality.
Range: The box quotes about a 40-foot range; I must say I can agree with this. It was great being able to leave my phone in the bedroom and walk around the house with out the fear of a wire catching something while doing housework, or dipping into dishwater. I even walked outside in heavy Missouri winter winds, the headset lost connection, but when I entered my concrete basement it re-connected, and started right where it left off, with just as good of quality as when I was sitting right next to the iPod.
Comfort: With thick padding on the ears and headband the headphones were some of the most comfortable I have tried yet.
Portability: These things fold up just small enough to fit into a coat pocket (Shown below). The Battery lasts for some time, it does have to charge through a USB, which seems like it would be a pain, but it is few and far between needing a charge.
Mic: I do not use the mic often, so it is nice that it folds up to be flush with the band, so when wearing them on the streets it doesn’t look like you are wearing a lame pair of computer headphones, but when the mic is needed it folds down and bends back and forth from the mouth with its flexible attachment.
Ease of use: Easy to setup, nice large buttons, which are glove friendly for the winter.
The not so good:
Sound quality (over wireless receiver): The 2.4GHz does not carry the best sound with it. Maybe would be good for chatting, but any quality from music or game sound effects are lost. (So maybe get a Bluetooth dongle if you want to use it with a computer that does not have Bluetooth built in, seen below)
Would have also been nice to have the option to plug in a 3.5mm jack in if you wanted to use them wired, for even better sound (like on the Beats design)
Durability: Made of plastic, does not seem super durable. Only time will tell.
Noise Isolation: Good sound, but that person you’re sitting next to on the plane will be able to hear it just a well as you can. No private conversations here.
With the amount that I wrote on the good rather than the bad, I hope that it is conveyed that I really enjoyed these headphones. Though they had some flaws they are some of the most practical ones I have tried yet, in my long line of failed headphone solutions.
What's great about it: Sound Quality (over bluetooth), range, comfort, portability, ease of use
What's not so great: Sound quality (over 2.4GHz), Durability, lack of noise isolation
I would recommend this to a friend!

Another review quoting discomfort
on November 28, 2011

How Often Used:1-2 times a week
These were pitched to me as: "You need these, they have great noise isolation, rotating ear cup, long cord, etc."... So I bought them. Took them on a trip the next day and realized something... What do I need the rotating cup or long cord for? Last time I checked I'm not a DJ.
They sounded good though so I could look past the insanely long cable. Then a half-hour later I couldn't keep these things on my head, so the rest of the 3 hour trip to and 3 hour trip back I had to lower them behind my head to decrease the pressure, well then they started leaking sound, so I had to switch to an audio book from my music so I wouldn't bother those next to me.
Still haven't found the perfect headphones.
What's great about it: Noise isolation, nice sound, dj features (you know if you're a dj)
What's not so great: discomfort, to long of cable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Relatively Nice

I drive an Impala, and of course the Impala has some kind of weird wiring that makes it more expensive to install an after market receiver, so I buy these adapters to keep from spending the money to put in a new system... problem with that: I could have bought a new radio by now with how many times I have had to replace these adapters.
This one has been relatively better than the rest though. The others I have tried (a griffin and a dynex) have had thinner cables and a right angle connector, both things making the device short out fairly fast.
The quality is better also. People have complained about the device not having the best quality, but honestly how good of quality are those compressed Mp3 files in the first place?
Once this one shorts out though I will probably be booking an install appointment.
What's great about it: good quality cable, no right angle connector
What's not so great: a bit expensive.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Bag for the Price
on November 28, 2011
Posted by: Bear64501
from St. Joseph, MO
Picked this bag up when I was waiting for my Ogio to be replaced under the the lifetime warranty (nothing but good things to say about the process).. and I picked this one up to use in the mean time.
Well made bag for the price and looks alright also. My friend has a North Face one that looks almost identical for 4times the price of this one (off sale).
My only complaint is the spot for the laptop is pretty thin and does not give a lot of shock protection, especially if you have books in there.
Not something I would use long term, but good for price.. I would splurge if you are keeping a nice laptop or tablet in there.
What's great about it: Lots of room, looks nice enough, good price, good for carrying everything but laptop
What's not so great: Laptop slot is thin and not very protective
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great for Apple lovers. You probably already know.
on November 28, 2011

Who it is good for:
-People with huge itunes library- Put itunes stuff in there and play from your big screen or speaker system (that has optical audio)
-Apple lovers- If you love Apple stuff and have a ton of their products you will want this... but if thats a case you probably already have it. But if you don't, it works great with the newer iPhones iPads and Macs. With these you can stream music, movies, and pictures wireless while being able to multitask while it's going on... Listen to a podcast or send a movie over for the kids while still checking your email, and with the iPads and iPhones you can mirror exactly what is on the screen. (warning: older iphones such as the 3Gs and the ipod touches will only send music and pictures. No movies.)
-Business users (with iPads and iPhones)- making a presentation? have a screen with hdmi input? Impress with the wireless mirroring.
Who its not good for:
-People who just want to watch movies or netflix- Do yourself a favor and buy a Roku or a Sony smart set-top box instead. Both are cheaper and stream in 1080p instead of 720, and both have more options- like Pandora and Hulu.
-Android and newer windows users- Again buy something like the Sony or a higher in Blu-ray Player for the above reasons, and since most android phones, tablets, and nicer windows laptops have DLNA certification so you can stream the same way with those devices.
*Only power cord and remote in box. So remember to pick up that HDMI or Optical Audio... Remember only 720, so nothing to expensive.
What's great about it: Streaming content while multitasking, looks good in business environment, mirroring capabilities(Angry Birds on an 80in)
What's not so great: Better options for non-Apple users.

Great full portrait lens
on February 21, 2011
Posted by: Bear64501
from St. Joseph, MO
So the fast 50mm is the most popular lens when it comes to portraiture photography. But on a crop sensor camera such as mine the the 50mm lens is about 85mm and only lets me get the head and shoulders of a subject. I usually want to get the full scene of the picture which makes the 35mm perfect. Plus the 35mm is practically 50mm on the crop sensor.
Good price:
The Sony 35mm is about $100 less than the Nikon and Canon ones, plus you get a faster lens: f/1.8 compared to f/2.0 on the Canon and Nikon.
The only complaint is the lens feels kinda cheap, but the price is cheap so this is understandable and it feels no more cheap than the Canon or Nikon.
What's great about it: Good price, perfect length
What's not so great: feels kinda cheap
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great set of tools for the money

Best buy sells a couple of different lens/ lcd cleaning options, but this one by far is the best deal. It is only a couple more dollars than the lcd cleaning kit, but comes with twice as much.
The kit includes a couple of different solutions
some nice soft cloth
A really nice 2 way brush
and most importantly a nice lens pen (no camera bag should be without one) it also comes with quite a few replacement tips for the pen
great buy, and all containers are small enough to fit into an already cramp camera bag.
What's great about it: Cheap for everything you get, well made lens pen
What's not so great: none

Fast lens great for photos and video
on September 19, 2010

from St. Joseph, MO
I always buy from Best Buy, but had to buy this one elsewhere since Best Buy hadn’t started carrying it yet. I have had it for about a 1½ months now and am very happy with the performance.
This is the perfect lens if you buy the Sony NEX for its size. The lens is less than an inch thin so makes the camera seem a lot more stream lined than it does on with the 18-55mm kit lens.
Sony also makes a fisheye adapter for this lens so to add a fresh perspective to video or photos.
Photos:
Also it is quite a bit faster than the kit lens at f/2.8 so low lit shots are no problem. Very sharp even around the edges. Makes the panorama mode look even better. Produces no noticable noise in the photo.
Video:
The fixed lens is great for video, and the auto focus works during video. Best of the 3 lenses Sony makes for the NEX when it comes to video
Downfalls:
Hard to find filters for it, but same size as all other e-mount lens (49mm)… and that’s about it.
Overall great lens that isn’t expensive
Dear Best Buy, Please start carrying the 18-200mm lens for the NEX!
What's great about it: Great lens for video, good for low light shots, good price
What's not so great: 49mm filters that Best Buy doesn't carry
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great bag for class
on August 25, 2010
Posted by: Bear64501
from St. Joseph, MO
I love keeping my camera bag with me and this bag allows me to put my school stuff into my case. It is big enough to fit my:
pens pencils, lenovo 10-3t, sony nex-3 slr with extra lenses, notebook, planner, chargers, filters, tripod(I have not had any troubles with tripod straps yet), etc.
I still have tons of room left.
Only con is that sometimes the shoulder strap is a bit uncomfortable.
Great for any cameras, if you have another brand camera like myself the canon logo is easy to pop off.
What's great about it: very spacious, strong
What's not so great: shoulder strap could be improved a bit
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does the ipad need anti-virus software

Is the ipad vulnerable to a virus from an e mail attachment or infected file and is there any reason/need to install anti virus software?
No, don't worry about it. Maybe at a later date, much later.

How likely is a significant Ipad upgrade in 1Q 2011? Best to wait?

Very likely, probably in April. If you should wait or not is up to you. wait if you want a camera on it or a possible sd card slot without having to buy the adapter. I myself don't care about the camera since I don't skype and I have a nice camera on my iphone, ipod touch, and carry my slr a lot

What iPad should I chose for my son and daughter that are in college and are traveling abroad and maybe be outside of a WiFi network?

I have a son and daughter in college. My son will be spending a year abroad (Europe) and works in the Caribbean in the summer. My daughter 's course of study at college requires her to be with clients at their home or place of business. Which iPad would be best for both of them?
ipad wifi only for son. No 3G coverage that will work over there unless you buy it through Orange, then it is only in the UK (link below) Daughter would probably benefit from the 3G when the homes she visits do not have wifi.
Then which ever size. 16 is usually good. most people don't have over 2,000 songs and the documents they may write won't take up much space. Maybe larger for your son so he can store tons of pics from his time abroad.

is there any monthly charges to download pictures and play games on a ipad 16gb

No. Not unless you buy a subscription based game. Most are not though. Only monthly fee is 3Gif you choose to get one with 3G, and even then you don't have to pay every month if you dont want to
