**Original Review** Now I will start by saying this...I am a Samsung, Sony, & LG guy. Other than a 32" Vizio TV I purchased back when Vizio came around, I've never purchased a "budget" display. I was in the market for a new set and didn't want to spend a ton of money, but at the same time, I wasn't going to just spend money on a new set unless there was a quality unit available. After doing some serious research, having considered LG's 49UH6100 for $150 more as well as Vizio's new E Series, I landed on the Hisense H8 model...and let me tell you, IT IS IMPRESSIVE!!! I've tweaked some basic color settings but plan on using one of my calibration discs to really try and get better picture out of this set, but just with the built in presets (Theatre), the TV looks fantastic! Comes with a 4 Year Manufacturer's Warranty and packs some great future proof features that will keep you happy while 4K Technology continues to evolve. While the display states that it has built in HDR, it's no where near the HDR technology in higher quality sets, but then again, HDR is a new technology in 4K sets this year so why spend thousands on something their isn't a ton of content for yet. And who knows where HDR will be in 3 years (can you say 3D). Has a full array LED backlight with local dimming, which is fantastic in getting those blacks darker. The set also has some great sound. Definitely the best I've ever heard on flat panel. If you don't plan on connecting this to a Soundbar or other Surround Sound, you'll certainly enjoy the sound you get out of this unit. A lot of you will have questions over the refresh rate. This TV has a native refresh rate of 60Hz. Believe it or not, most TV's that claim higher refresh rates, actually have native refresh rates of 60Hz and instead use video processing techniques to create higher refresh rate effects. I've watched movies, sports, and played PS4 without any issues. The set has some built in motion control options that quite honestly doesn't look any different than my Samsung, Sony, and LG sets I have at home and these TVs are considered 120Hz (60Hz native, the rest's effects). Whether or not you're a fan of higher refresh rates is going to be a personal preference. Other than watching sports, I personally am not a fan of the Soap Opera effect that these higher refresh rate effects create and normally actually turn off motion control completely, or leave it on its lowest setting. Visually, the set is beautiful to look at. Looks and feels premium, has thin bezels keeping its footprint small while still giving you a bright, beautiful display. Believe it or not, it's actually the same width as my 3 year old 46" Samsung LCD. I will say this; my first unit that I purchased I had to return. I went to turn it on and the display must have fallen in the warehouse because the display was cracked. But, the great staff at Best Buy promptly replaced it with a new working set! Take this issue with a grain of salt, LCD/LED displays are delicate pieces of equipment and this could happen to absolutely any make and model set. Folks, do not hesitate to buy this set. Hisense is actually a very popular brand world wide for LCD/LED displays and is on a mission to rip into the US Market with it's 2016 lineup of displays! Stop thinking about this, walk into your local Best Buy and see it for yourself on display!

$40 for a Product That Looks HORRIBLE!

Zagg, are you kidding me? How did this product even make it out of QC? Be warned...sure, it's clear, goes on easy...JUST BE PREPARED TO HAVE ABOUT A QUARTER INCH EDGE AROUND THE WHOLE SCREEN PROTECTOR THAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S LIFTING UP OFF YOUR PHONE! What a waste of money! Not Recommended for the Note 4. I've successfully installed on an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, and S4. Best Buy shouldn't even sell this.

Great Smartwatch at a Steep Cost
on January 9, 2014

I've been in the market for a Smartwatch for quite some time now. This past week, I decided to purchase both the Pebble and Sony Smartwatch 2 to see which would reign supreme as my side kick to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. While both of these devices do what they say they do, I was left with an unsatisfied feeling. The Pebble is a very basic smartwatch that, let's face it, is King due to its wide compatibility with iOS and Android devices and its simplicity and price point ($159). The Sony Smartwatch 2 ($199) kicks things up a notch with a color display and enhanced notification management and huge app support, however, the display looks like it came off a cell phone when colored displays were first introduced.
I finally convinced myself to try Samsung's $300 Galaxy Gear. After spending several days with this device, I can honestly say that THIS IS A SMARTWATCH! While developer support is still limited and compatibility is restricted to select Galaxy devices, its functionality, hardware, and just overall design\build goes unmatched!
A smartwatch IS NOT for everyone. It is simply an accessory or extension of your device. This is probably the most important question you need to answer to determine whether you should get one or not...Do you want/need an accessory that handles notifications discretely so that you never miss another message/email or call again? After this, it's all about how much you want to invest and what works best for you.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with Pebble or Sony's Smartwatch 2. Having used all three, the Gear just felt like a more polished and promising device for me. As Samsung and developers continue to support this device, I foresee increased capability and possibly even compatibility with other Android devices not manufactured by Samsung.
I highly recommend any user with a compatible smartphone give this device a shot. Unfortunately, Best Buy only carries demo models of the Gear and not the others if you were to try and go into the store to do your own comparison.
The Gear goes for $299 brand new or use Best Buy's In Store Clearance/ Open Box Feature to located near mint condition Galaxy Gear devices going for $250 at a Best Buy near you!
What's great about it: Excellent Display, Fast, Unique Features
What's not so great: Cost, Battery Life, Not Waterproof, Limited Compatibility

Great Protection for Your Gear!
on January 8, 2014
Posted by: PSCT
Having just paid $300 for my gear, why wouldn't you invest an extra $12 to protect that beautiful screen. Application is easy. If you've never installed a Zagg, it does use a liquid application included in the kit. My recommendation to avoid dust getting under you protector; first wash your hands with dish soap to remove oils from your hand. Pick a room in your house with little dust in the air (ie kitchen, bathroom or other room without carpeting). Great thing about Zagg is if you screw up, wait five minutes and start over.

How far away from the phone can you be for the Galaxy Gear to still be connected?

The Gear uses Bluetooth 4.0, LE. Assuming your Galaxy smartphone has Bluetooth 4.0, the connection will carry a max distance of 160ft utilizing Bluetooth 4.0. Bluetooth 4.0 is backwards compatible and carries a higher distance rating of close to 300ft.

Remember, environmental variables impact distance.

The Gear notifies you if you have moved out of distance with your smartphone.

Is it water resistant or waterproof?

how deep?

how long can it stay in water?

operating temp?

Y no flash for the camera?
The Gear is not water resistant. It is IP55 rated which technically states it can withstand short exposure to a water jet. In another words, it can withstand a splash/ rain drops. No showers, washing hands with it.

It does not get hot. Adding a camera flash would add additional bulk to the device.

what metal/material is the Gear made of?

Like many people, I have metal sensitivities but I cannot find any information about what type of metal or materials the Gear is made with. I really don't want to spend $300 on something that I won't be able to use because of the way it affects my skin! Does anyone know what metal material it is made of?
The Gear's wrist band is made of a silicon. The face of the Gear has a brushed aluminum metal bezel (or Rose Gold). The underside is a black plastic.

Can the watch be purchased separately and paired with the note 3 by owner?

Yes. The Gear costs $299. If you use Best Buy's Android or iOS app on your smartphone, there is an In-Store Clearance/ Open Box feature that will allow you to locate an open box, near mint Galaxy Gear for $250 at a local Best Buy near you. They even sell them for $180 if you are willing to deal with a device that was returned and functions, however, may have some signs of wear like surface scratches or dings.

can it be used alone without a phone

The Gear relies on a bluetooth connection to your phone for message/call notifications. If the Gear moves out of range from your device, you will lose any ability to recieve notifications until you are back in range.

It will still function as a watch, camera, and several apps that don't require notification delivery.

Is this watch water resistant?

Is the watch capable of going in the shower or rain without damage?
The watch is IP55 rated. It is not waterproof, however, should handle short exposure to light water splashes.

Wouldn't recommend showering with it.

Purchase the 2 year warranty for 39.99. Peace of mind
