They work and LG Bluetooth is the best!

I've owned about 5 different models of this type of LG Bluetooth product. These work just fine and the external speaker is an unexpected plus. Yes you can switch a slide button and voila you have your song or audio-book playing on an external speaker, no in ear buds needed. Comes in handy when you want to be aware of your surroundings yet jam out. Sound is more than adequate with resounding bass (not heavy) with clear highs. These are good however the price is a bit steeper than normal at $119 which is why I provided a rating of 4 out of 5.

Ok, but....

Every so often the range extender (RE) stops communicating with the base router which causes me to have to go to the RE and reboot the device. Get's annoying especially when you have to reboot and you're all ready for bed.
However, this can be due to user error, but unlikely.
Bottom line: Great when it works. It is easy to set-up and start using, but the bad part is the inconsisency in maintaining a connenction with the base router.
What's great about it: It is easy to set-up and start using.
