Great but should have included a manual
on October 11, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
The Corsair K70 Core TKL Wireless keyboard is the latest iteration of this popular series. As a current K70 wired user, I would say overall this would be an incremental improvement over the former. And quite obviously the main improvement of the new K70 core is the addition of being wireless capable. In addition to having the usual USB wired connection this keyboard , Bluetooth connectivity is added as well as a dongle. In addition, support for Corsair’s redesigned/renamed portal iCue software is added. And on the top right of the keyboard, one can find physical media control not present in previous iterations. And Corsair was kind enough to include a wrist pad with the keyboard.
So, what’s included in the box. Of course the keyboard itself, the wrist pad, a USB C cable a dongle which boasts super fast speeds, and warranty and safety guidelines. Unfortunately, there is no manual nor a quick start guide. For those familiar with Corsair product or gaming keyboards in general this shouldn’t be a big deal. But for new gamers than can be a source of frustration. And upon checking the Corsair website, I also couldn’t find any documentation for this keyboard. And while this keyboard is new, this still should be a reason not to come out with documentation whether printed or online.
Performance of this keyboard when wired is at par with the wired version but the wireless connection is likewise comparable to the wired version. And when compared to your regular wireless keyboard. And this keyboard like most Corsair keyboards live up to what it claims. And these include minimal input lag whether wired or wireless and sound dampening. This keyboard is fairly quiet but not totally quiet.
So the million dollar question is, should you upgrade? If wireless is not your priority, then this keayboard is not for you. But if wireless is a priority, then by all means get this keyboard. But unfortunately, due to the lack of documentation, I would deduct one star from this keyboard.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great if you already have Swann products!
on October 4, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
As the age the internet of things arise, most are now online based which may be a convenience but at the same time as disadvantage as most products are now subscription based. This now includes your common video doorbell. But the Swan EVO wireless video doorbell changes everything. It has both internal storage and cloud but paid cloud services. Of course there were other brands out there that came out there but Swann is part of an ecosystem. I am biased here because currently I use the Swann Fourtify and CoreCam surveillance cameras.
Inside the box are the video doorbell itself an included chime (Note that competing brands sell this separately) a mounting bracket and a quick start guide. Setup is fairly simple. Just charge the phone first. And while charging the phone might as well download the app if you haven’t done so. Pair the video doorbell to the app and the chime also. Place the mounting bracket where you want to and you’re good to go. And if you are putting it where your old doorbell is, you also have the option to set it up using your old doorbell’s wiring. Wiring is also included.
Basic features include HD video (who needs 4k?), full head to toe angle viewing and two way audio. Video is then stored in an SD card but you also have the option of subscribing to cloud services similar to other Swann products. In my case, no longer subscribed so as to say money and that’s a good thing. I would definitely recommend this product.

It works but needs improvement
on October 1, 2024

Aluratek’s PicStick is badicallty a dongle that your connect to your TV via HDMI to convert it to a digital picture frame. Inside the box you can find the dongle itself, a USB-C cable, a power supply, a remote with AAA batteries, an infra-red cable and of course a quick start guide.
Setup of the PicStick is simply straightforward. Download the FrameTime app either in iOS or Android and create an account. Connect the dongle to the TV and don’t forget to power the dongle via the supplied power supply. Turn on the TV and you can copy the photos in your phone to the dongle. From thereon, you can view your pictures on your TV. And you can even share your account with other members so you can have more pictures. And if that is not enough, you can also use a USB dongle to transfer picture too.
Setup seems easy that almost anyone can do it. Well not so fast. First there are some improvements to be made here. First, the slideshow feature doesn’t seem to work. Or perhaps, an auto slideshow is not available as you have to use the remote to move on to the net picture. And while you can upload video, it doesn’t seem you can hear audio. And lastly, I do not see the value of the IR cable since the dongle can function without said capable.
While there is potential for this product, it is hard to recommend it due to the reasons mentioned above. Perhaps a firmware upgrade can remedy these issues and then maybe this product can reach its potential.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Tineco Smart Cordless Floor Washer is a small miracle os sorts. Of course we are used to traditional floor mops. But this smart floor washer is a level up in efficiency. One, it operates like a normal vacuum cleaner which makes its convenient to use. Two it is cordless which makes it very mobile. Battery from what gather gives you a life of 35 minutes or so.
The unit comes pretty pre-assembled that you only have to attach the handle which is actually a snap-on handle. Put on top of the included base then attach the charger. And in an hour or so, you’re good to go.
The box also includes extra brushes and filters and a bottle of their liquid concentrate. Tineco suggests that you should only their brand but all manufacturers state that.
Once fullt charged, you detached the clean water reservoir at the back with water then add a capful of cleaning solution. And then clean your floor.
Operation is easy as is it is a one touch operation. In the body of the washer, there is a control panner to monitor cleaning. As you clean, treated water is spread on the floor and your brush gives the floor a firm cleaning. As you clean your floor, the liquid is also suction to minimize liquid on the floor. And if you only want to clean a wet floor, there is a suction only function.
Overall, this is a highly efficient and easy to use that a child can operate it. I would highly recommend this washer.

A solid magnetic wireless charger
on August 27, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
Ok. Wireless car chargers are nothing new. So what does the Velox Mini Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Charger offer which other chargers before it offer? Well, there are several things that the Velox can offer prior to its predecessors. First is the charging capability. Most early magnetic wireless chargers have rating of 5 watts. That is very slow by today’s standard. Of it naturally followed suit that a 10 watt charger would be the norm. But these technologies tend to overheat. Then years later Velox comes out with a 15 watt charger. And after using it for a week, I have noticed that charging speeds were more of acceptable levels though the baseline is for 20 watts or higher for iPhones. Next would be the margnetic capanilities of this charger. And though this is not labelled as MagSafe compatible, it is in fact compatible. I am guessing legal issues are being considered here. But what engages me most is that the magnetic strength of this charger. Even with a thick case, the magnetic strength is strong enough to hold my phone without falling everytime I hit a speed bump. My old wireless charger does that. Design wise there not much to btag about as it is shaped as your usual wireless magnetic charger with suction cup. One thing to note though is that its arm is extendable making the view angles way better. I can’t much more about this charger but to give it high praises. I would recommend this definitley.

A fast router
on August 19, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
The TP-Link Archer BE6500 is a wifi 7 enabled router which boasts up to four times the speed. While as of this moment most have only begun to adopt to wifi 6 including myself. As of the moment I am using a wifi 6 enabled TP-Link mesh router and l am quite happy about it. But let us see if it is worthwhile to upgrade to the TP-Link Archer BE6500.
Offhand, the TP-Link BE-6500 with its mesh design looks like and ordinary. It has a mesh design which is quite ordinary. And the connectivity options are the usual one ethernet port connecting to your modem and four ethernet ports for devices that require a hard wired connection. The main difference between this router and others is that the main ethernet port can support 2.5GBS and one of the four ethernet ports also has 2.5GBS speeds and the remaining three ports have 1GPS. That is a lot! Unfortunately I could not test it since I only have a 1GBS internet connection at home.
One thing you’ll notice also is that it has six antennas. Do note that these antennas are strong. My home has 5,000 square feet and I need a mesh router (also by TP-Link) but my front and back yards have weak connections. And if I am connected to other nodes, my speeds go down by half. With the BE6500, I have strong connections allover and my speeds have a of 600GBS hence negating the need for a mesh router.
So far these are the good points. But I have a couple of things to nitpick on. First I ny experience, it wasn’t a plug and play setup. A direct connection at the beginning did not result to a connection. I had to connect to the portal first so I can configure the router. I find this a bit odd, since I’m able to connect to the internet immediately. And when I connected to the internet, I as prompted to a firmware update. Easy peasy. However, when connected, there are no indicator lights which made me to get in touch with TP-Link support. I found out that the indicator lights are turned off by default. You have to disable the lightd through the router’s settings.
Overall, this router seems to be another of those routers, but in truth, this router is fully packed. I’d recommend this.

The AT-LP70XBT fully automatic wireless belt-drive turntable is designed for budding vinylphiles – those who love sitting back with the album art in hand to enjoy warm, analog music as the artist intended. Added Bluetooth wireless technology gives you the option to listen to your vinyl over Bluetooth-enabled speakers, headphones, or other devices, including those that support the high-quality Qualcomm aptX Adaptive audio codec.Arguably, the most important component for generating high-fidelity audio from vinyl is a quality phono cartridge. Audio-Technica has been a leader in phono cartridge design for more than 60 years, and we’ve drawn on that expertise to create a versatile, high-performance cartridge for this turntable – performance that other turntables in this class simply can’t match. Integrated into the J-shaped tonearm, the AT-VM95C cartridge with 0.6 conical stylus offers excellent channel separation and low distortion for outstanding tonal quality. And the stylus can also be easily upgraded with any of the other styli (elliptical, microlinear, or Shibata) in our VM95 Series, offering customization that is normally only possible on a turntable with a detachable headshell and cartridge. The easy-to-use AT-LP70XBT plays both 33-1/3 and 45 RPM records and, in addition to its Bluetooth wireless technology, has a built-in switchable phono preamp that allows the turntable to also be connected directly to a home stereo, powered speakers, computer or other component, whether that component has a dedicated phono input or not. The three-piece, anti-resonance chassis provides a solid foundation that dampens unwanted noise for improved sound quality. Noise is further reduced by the inclusion of an AC adapter that moves the AC/DC conversion outside of the chassis to limit its impact on the signal chain. The turntable comes with a detachable RCA output cable (dual RCA male to dual RCA male with ground), 45 RPM adapter, and removable hinged dust cover, and is available in three color schemes: Black/Silver, Black/Bronze, and White/Silver.

A simple gateway to vinyl!
on August 16, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
Vinyl has long been the dominant music format in the 20th century. However, it rapidly declined with the rise of MP3s and lately streaming. But in the past few years or so, it’s making a comeback because for some the analog sound is way better than digital. But unfortunately for some the costs and inconvenience of listening to vinyl, had made it hard for mass consumption for the second time. The Audio-Technica belt driven and wireless turntable aims to bridge the gap.
First, the Audio Technica is shipped with without hot being fully assembled. One would simply attach the plate te to the turnable and put on the vinyl mat and you’re good to go. There are two ways to connect the Audio Technica. One obviously is via Bluetooth. There is a pairing button om the left side of the unit and just give a long press. The other way to connect is via RCA cables. There are two modes which can be set at the back. There is the standard mode that you need to have an amplifier to connect to the speakers. The other mode is to connect to active speakes such as PC speakers.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to test the turntable via stereo speakers since I do not have an amp. I was able to test the turntable via Bluetooth speakers. And as per my experience, sound output is a hit or miss. Using my Sony Bluetooth speakers, I wasn’t able to get good sound. But I used my Sharkk Bluetooth speakers, everything sounded better. So for Bluetooth speakers your mileage may vary. But I am pretty sure this would sound better with a proper amplifier.
Lastly, this is a belt driven turntable with a fixed weight tone arm which are fine by me. But for vinyl lovers there, these two will be a source of a lengthy debate. Let’s just enjoy the warm crisp sound of vinyl IMO since this is an entry level turntable. I would definitely recommend this one!

A basic kiddie drone
on July 23, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
The Snaptain K30 as its description says is a kiddie drone. So first make no mistake that this is a drone is at par with professional drones in the market today. That said this review will be based on the fact that it is a kiddie drone.
First, the packaging of the Snaptain Z30 is similar to what is found in toys with a see through box and not a box with design as found in most tech gadgets.
Opening the box would reveal that both the drone itself and the remote are made from cheap plastic. The remote is powered by three AAA batteries whereas the drone itself is powered by a removable battery. A spare battery is included too. Also included in the box are a carrying pouch, a couple of tools, four extra propellers, a USB C cable but no charger and a couple of quick start guides.
Setting up the drone is pretty much similar to all drones. First is that you have to download the Snaptain FV app both available in iOS and Android. Turn on both the drone and the remote control. Connect the drone to the phone and you’re ready to go.
Operation of the drone is straight forward. On the right sight of the remote are the power and speed mode buttons. On the left side are the launch/land button and flight mode button. Just press the launch button and the drone will begin to fly. The joysticks control altitude and direction of the drone. Pressing the land button obviously will land the drone. Unfortunately, there is no return to home button. But then again this is a toy drone. There is flight mode capability for the drone but I really wasn’t able to test it since this drone is so lightweight and obviously no flight stabilization that it can barely fly outdoors. (Note that the instructions say that this supposed to be used indoors. So flying it in a gym would be nearly impossible for me.)
Also, there is a camera built in the drone, but it is only 720p. Stills and video can be taken by the drone but expect much. One thing I’ve noticed though is that battery life is around five to ten minutes which is the downside for me. But then again this is a toy. But I have to remove a star for that. Still if you want a practice drone, this is a viable option.

A good but standard motherboard
on July 17, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
Building your own computer can be a daunting task but is not limited to gamers. I don’t consider myself a hardcore gamer. But I consider myself as an enthusiast who has some knowledge in assembling PCs. The Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX motherboard which is designed for AMD CPUs like most other motherboards is fairly nondescript. And all you have to know is the compatibility list so as to maximize your build.
As mentioned earlier, this motherboard is for AMD CPUs meaning that it can handle late model Ryzen 3 CPUs and above. But Gigabyte touts that it can c=handle also the 7000/8000/9000 series chipsets. The build that I plan is for a Ryzen 5.
The memory capacity of the motherboard is 192 GB and can utilize DDR5 and also has four slots. But honestly 16 GB is already enough for me but plan to go to 32 GB Also my existing memory chips are DDR4.
If you are planning to add on a video card which is what gamers all do, I would suggest that the power supply you get is 500 watts. As of this writing, I have yet to acquire a new graphics card as my AMD Radeon is already antiquated.
The ports are pretty much standard here as it includes all the video and USB ports including a USB-C port as well. I wish it did have dual HDMI ports so having a two monitor setup is way better. But one thing I did like is the inclusion of built-in Wi-Fi which is Wi-Fi six capable. This way I am not reliant on my router. Also one neat feature is that you can upgrade the firmware without an OS. But personally, I’d rather do a BIOS upgrade through Windows.
The only downside with building your own rig is the Windows license which from a cost perspective, makes buying a full assembled desktop and adding accessories on it a viable option though building your own rig gives you full customization albeit at a higher cost. But right now my new rig is far from complete and given my schedule, it may take a month to complete it. Still this is a good project. I’d still recommend this motherboard.

Heat food quickly and efficiently with this Insignia 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave. Nine preset functions take the guesswork out of cooking common foods like popcorn and baked potatoes, and a 1.1 cu. ft. interior provides room for meals without taking up too much space. A 12.4-in glass turntable works to evenly distribute heat while 1000 watts and 11 power levels let you cook or reheat meat, vegetables and more. This microwave has an integrated child lock for safety and a bright LED display that lets you operate the device in low-light conditions.

A solid performer!
on July 9, 2024
Posted by: msumulong
The Insignia countertop microwave is one of many microwave units out in the market. For those that who don’t know Insignia is the in-house brand of Best Buy.
With that aside, the Insignia countertop microwave oven has a 1.1 cubic ft capacity and has a rating of 1000 watts. And since the size of the of the microwave is slightly smaller than an over the oven microwave, it can match the latter’s performance as most countertop ovens have a rating of only 700 watts.
The microwave I reviewed has a black enamel coating which makes it a sleek looking unit. The door has a lock wherein you lock the door by pushing a button/trigger in the handle. This for me is quite important since often times countertop microwave ovens slide toward you when opening the door.
On the right side of the is a touch screen control panel which contains the most common presets found in other microwave ovens such as timers, clock and various food modes. Operation of the unit was pretty simple. One thing I have noticed is that the microwave seems to be a bit more quiet and not really vibrating much. These are features found in more expensive models.
Overall the Insignia 1.1 cubic feet countertop microwave oven seems to be on par with other brands. And I will highly recommend this model.

Worst experience ever buying this phone
By Gourav
I brought this phone for $50 during Thanksgiving and this phone was delivered to me after 30 days but I thought OK its late but may be worth it.
I start using this phone and haven't made even 5 calls this phone restarting by itself every min, so i did factory reset and tried all other suggestions from online forums but nothing helped. Since this is under warranty i had to ship it Alcatel repair center but on my own pocket expenses, AH!.
Alcatel should cover shipping fees as its their fault that their phone is faulty.
Alcatel don't even have their store/facility locations where i can go give my phone for repair physically rather paying for shipping.
I would also recommend that Best Buy has brand name and they should NOT allow low quality brands/product to be sold on their site.

Alcatel covers shipping costs
April 20, 2017
I also bought mine during Thanksgiving and had the same problem. I called Alcatel and they acknowledged that there is a hardware problem and emailed a shipping label for FedEx. Within a week or so I received a replacement phone via UPS. Do note I did pay for shipping and replacement of my phone. In fairness to Alcatel this replacement phone does not have the random reboots anymore.

Printed well until ink needed replacing
By Macinzim
Every time I try to print or scan it tells me that I need to replace an ink cartridge to access anything on the printer. Ex: I replace the magenta and print one black and white document then it tells me I need to replace the magenta again. Epson customer service tells me "replace the ink cartridge" and nothing else. Printing one 5 page black and white document per month is costing me approximately $20 per month.

Everytime you replace a cartridge, calibration reduces ink in the other cartridges. You'd be better off with tri-color cartridges,

You have to manually set the APN for AT&T as settings for AT&T are not pre-configured. Contact AT&T for the correct settings.

What phone plans can I use. I want a go phone plan. Like page plus where I can pay 6-10 cents a minute over 3- 4 months. Not a monthly plan.

You can have that option when you try to activate your SIM online.

Is the reception strong? And will it work with post pay plan?

Reception is quite strong. Also it is capable of wifi calling in areas with weak coverage. And it will still work with a post paid plan. Your SIM must be a nano SIM though.

How much available space you get after you activate the phone?

Around 2.8GB left after the phone autoupdates after first opening it. A lot of junkware is installed. Can't seem to port file to SD card though. Still it serve its purpose.

Will printer and Office be compatible with Windows 7

I am considering purchasing HP or Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. This will be upgrade from Windows XP. Will my present printer HP 3100 series be compatible and can I download Windows Office that I have now?
Often printers drivers are update like my HP 1401. If it's the HP Photosmart 3100 series, there are updated drivers. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=447811&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20»

Most computers now have a trial version of Office 2007 Home & Student which you can purchase and activate. I also believe you can also download other versions from the Microsoft site.

what do you think of MSI laptops?

How would you rate MSI laptops against other laptops for general applications?
MSI is relatively new and build quality is a bit shoddy. But slowly it has been improving over the years. Specs wise, it's a value for money system.
