Awesome cable
on June 30, 2018

First, one might ask if there is a need for this cable in spite that iPhones have an adapter included already. Good question one might ask. However the primary advantage of this is that it has a direct digital connection to your speaker or receiver/amplifier. I am by no means an audiophile but I can say it minimizes any distortion in the connection. Also a defective or plain dirty male-male cable can provide distortion or cracking sounds. This cable prevents this. I have tried this in my ION speaker and compared to bluetooth, there seems to be less distortion. For this simple reason, it is worthwhile to consider this cable if you want to maximize the audio quality coming from your Apple device.

Awesome for a low end phone
on November 24, 2016

This phone is considered a low end phone made by Alcatel which is a French company but is now a subsidiary of TCL a Chinese company. That said this is pretty much a good phone given it's size and resolution and performs quite well. And if needed it can handle two SIM cards. The feel though is "plasticky" and may turn off others. I just got this phone today and so far it performs as expected except for the volume which is rather low when headphones are used. I went into engineering mode and found not option to increase volume. For this I deducted one star but would still recommend this.

I bought this headphone assuming it had a mic. But when I picked it up, it didn't have a mic. I returned it on the spot. Buyer beware.
PS
I had the non-mic version bought from BestBuy. But then again I am buying the one with a mic and is shown in the picture.

It is great for its price point

Sure other reviewers will great this phone a bad rap but then again they are comparing it to LG's flagship phones which costs around $500+ against a sub-$100 phone. That said it has some drawbacks which are actually wish lists like it has only 8GB on board memory, has a non retina-class or similar display (but bright, sharp and detailed display for its size), has only a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi connection speed and has no NFC. If you are looking for these features, look for another phone. And lastly for selfie-aficionados out there, the hand gestures and voice command for the front camera are awesome. I can't think of another phone right now that can beat this at its current price.

Pretty much has been said about the other reviews which are all positive save for the built-in speakers. But I'd like to point out that the two HDMI ports is a hidden gem. I use primarily a Kangaroo mini-desktop PC which is Atom based. With the other port I can connect my laptop for computing power or connecting another media streaming device such as a Roku. This has not been emphasized. So 'nuff said.

Best 60x its price range
on January 27, 2016

This is the best 60x ultrazoom below $200. Though arguably the Nikon and Canon 60x ultrazooms have better image quality at the far end and have more bells and whistles like Wi-Fi and GPS, these models range from $400-$500. This model is less than $200. And since I got this in a blowout sale for $149.99 with free Lowepro bag and 8FB SD card, that further sweetened the deal for me.

Value for money hard drive

The hard disk is primarily straightforward and easy to use. No included crapware save for the registration app. It's good for a basic cut and paste backup or using Windows own backup program. The down side is that it didn;t include a case. BB is selling cases which is almost half the price of the drive!
What's great about it: No frills external drive
What's not so great: No included case

Worst experience ever buying this phone
By Gourav
I brought this phone for $50 during Thanksgiving and this phone was delivered to me after 30 days but I thought OK its late but may be worth it.
I start using this phone and haven't made even 5 calls this phone restarting by itself every min, so i did factory reset and tried all other suggestions from online forums but nothing helped. Since this is under warranty i had to ship it Alcatel repair center but on my own pocket expenses, AH!.
Alcatel should cover shipping fees as its their fault that their phone is faulty.
Alcatel don't even have their store/facility locations where i can go give my phone for repair physically rather paying for shipping.
I would also recommend that Best Buy has brand name and they should NOT allow low quality brands/product to be sold on their site.

Alcatel covers shipping costs
April 20, 2017
I also bought mine during Thanksgiving and had the same problem. I called Alcatel and they acknowledged that there is a hardware problem and emailed a shipping label for FedEx. Within a week or so I received a replacement phone via UPS. Do note I did pay for shipping and replacement of my phone. In fairness to Alcatel this replacement phone does not have the random reboots anymore.

Printed well until ink needed replacing
By Macinzim
Every time I try to print or scan it tells me that I need to replace an ink cartridge to access anything on the printer. Ex: I replace the magenta and print one black and white document then it tells me I need to replace the magenta again. Epson customer service tells me "replace the ink cartridge" and nothing else. Printing one 5 page black and white document per month is costing me approximately $20 per month.

Everytime you replace a cartridge, calibration reduces ink in the other cartridges. You'd be better off with tri-color cartridges,

You have to manually set the APN for AT&T as settings for AT&T are not pre-configured. Contact AT&T for the correct settings.

What phone plans can I use. I want a go phone plan. Like page plus where I can pay 6-10 cents a minute over 3- 4 months. Not a monthly plan.

You can have that option when you try to activate your SIM online.

Is the reception strong? And will it work with post pay plan?

Reception is quite strong. Also it is capable of wifi calling in areas with weak coverage. And it will still work with a post paid plan. Your SIM must be a nano SIM though.

How much available space you get after you activate the phone?

Around 2.8GB left after the phone autoupdates after first opening it. A lot of junkware is installed. Can't seem to port file to SD card though. Still it serve its purpose.

Will printer and Office be compatible with Windows 7

I am considering purchasing HP or Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. This will be upgrade from Windows XP. Will my present printer HP 3100 series be compatible and can I download Windows Office that I have now?
Often printers drivers are update like my HP 1401. If it's the HP Photosmart 3100 series, there are updated drivers. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=447811&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20»

Most computers now have a trial version of Office 2007 Home & Student which you can purchase and activate. I also believe you can also download other versions from the Microsoft site.

what do you think of MSI laptops?

How would you rate MSI laptops against other laptops for general applications?
MSI is relatively new and build quality is a bit shoddy. But slowly it has been improving over the years. Specs wise, it's a value for money system.
