A solid basic blender

The Oster® Pulverizing Power Blender with High Speed Motor is in essence a non-descript blender. That said it has several attributes worth noting so that it would affect your purchase decision of a traditional blender. First it has a glass carafe which is a plus for me as not only it gives heft to the product but is also better for flavors eliminating any plastic odors or taste. It also has a metal drive that gives you the assurance it won’t break down so easily to come. A downside though is the blender housing itself is made of plastic and comes in gray somewhat giving it a sense of not being premium since I am used to chrome and black blender housings. That said, it compensates that it does not vibrate much in spite of its 800-watt motor and the suction small as they have good traction. Add to that the heft of the carafe, you can be quite comfortable that the product is stable even though you are not holding it when in use. Of course, it is still prudent to hold the product when in use just in case. There are eight settings namely Stir, Mix, Chop, Blend, Liquify, Puree, Liquify and Pulse though over the years I have only used the equivalent of low, medium, high and pulse. There is not much to look for a blender at this price range. But one thing I can say is that it is still a solid blender in spite of its casing. I’d still recommend this to others.

Massagers come in all forms and sizes. The Beurer - Vibrating Massage Ball is one such massager. But the beauty of this massager is that it is both portable and as already described vibrating. Looking like a futuristic detonating device seen in sci-fi action movies, the shape alone an when used with pressure is already providing a soothing relief. Add to those two levels of vibrations (powered by AAA batteries) make a perfect little device you can bring anywhere for you to sooth those aching muscles. Not much more can be said except that it gives a good massage in a handy little package. This is definitely worth purchasing.

Beurer - Insect Bite Healer is an interesting product. At first glance you may even doubt if this is really a gimmick or not. But actually it works and is a nice addition to your first aid kit especially when you’re outdoors. First this device is small and quite honestly looks like a remote control for a popular streaming device named after a search engine.
How it works is generally heating up the insect bite immediately in order for it to work. The immediate heat given by the tiny ceramic healing plates dissolves any saliva or venom by the insect before the latter goes in to effect. One can imagine how this can happen with a device powered only by two AAA batteries. But it actually works. After turning it on, you can select what level of heat it can generate. First is a three second heat pulse aimed for sensitive skin. Second is a sic second heat pulse for less sensitive skin. Mind you this stings. And as a precaution, younger kids may find this as traumatic as the actual insect bite itself. But it gives immediate relief though if used immediately after the insect bite. I’d recommend this to others.

A versatile vacuum cleaner!

I’ve owned a couple of cordless stick vacuum cleaners but in my honest opinion Shark® Cordless Vertex™ Pro Vacuum is the one cordless vacuum that can actually replace your corded vacuum cleaner. First, the included battery is strong enough to provide power equivalent to a standard vacuum cleaner. But you might say other cordless vacuums can also do the same. Well this vacuum can go on for an hour. But you may say again that so do others. Well yes but not at this price point.
But really, it’s not all about the price alone. One strong feature I like is the Multiflex wand which is actually the main rod being able to fold in order to reach spaces under tables and the like. This feature is notably absent in most stick vacuum cleaners, corded or not corded. Furthermore, the Multiflex wand can fully folded for storage eliminating the need for a hanging rack or even disassembling it for storage. (See pictures.)
Also, the included filters are hand washable unlike most vacuum cleaners outer. This alone adds to cost savings from frequently buying filters for your vacuum. It has a digital display which shows power mode, hard floor or carpet mode. The canister and filters are removable which is pretty standard. It has dual self cleaning fins in the roller and is fairly easy to remove for cleaning. And it has lights which is a convenient feature but I personally don’t really need. Bu it is nice to have. Operation in a nutshell is pretty much simple and for the most part reading the manual can be dispensed with though I still recommend it though.
Accessories inside the package include the battery charger (of course), a crevice tool, a dusting brush and a multi-angle dusting brush. But there is an additional seven tools that can be purchased separately if you need them.
Overall, the Shark® Cordless Vertex™ Pro Vacuum is not only a solid performer but also a value for money vacuum cleaner that can actually replace any regular vacuum cleaner. I would strongly recommend this one compared to other vacuum cleaners out there.

A nifty tool for your videography

The RØDE - Vlogger Kit USB-C Edition is a nice addition to level up your video taking capabilities whether you are a vlogger or simply one who wants to shoot videos. Of course camera phones nowadays takes good videos but audio is sometimes a hit or miss. With this microphone you can now have directional recording for your audio which provides better audio quality compared to the built-in mic in your phone.
Included in the kit si the directional microphone which connects via USB-C (There is a lightning version of this mic too.) A mic clip, a tripod, a light with filters, a deadcat and a charging cable. Usage is pretty much simple, just plug the mic to your phone and you’re good to go. Of course the accessories are there too.
Upon testing this mic, it gives more clarity to the sounds in front of the mic and background noise is reduced significantly. Still, unwanted noises can be recorded and that’s where the deadcat (that furry little thing included) comes in. With the deadcat on, unwnanted noises have mostly been cut off. Also, the mic has a 3.5mm jack wherein you can better monitor the sounds you are recording. Though not really necessary, a companion app is recommended to be installed in your phone. This is where you would be able to update the firmware of your phone. One thing to note tough is that this mic does not offer flash recording wherein you can edit audio and video separately and sync them back together. But then again, this is for the casual vlogger.
The included light for me is to bright if you are vlogging yourself but sufficient enough if you are using it to video other stuff. There are filters included so the you can have some color depth in your video.
I can’t say anymore for this mic save for the fact that it is a nifty addition to your video taking activities.

The Samsung - 980 PRO 2TB PCIE 4.0 x4 NVMe Gen4 Internal Gaming SSD M.2 is blazing. Though I still have to setup/build a gaming rig with a PCIE 4.0 compatibility for my son. I did try it on his HP Pavilion i5 gaming laptop with only PCIE 3.0. (For those wondering this will work on older motherboards, these SSDs are backwards compatible.)
First, I installed the RAM card on an enclosure and used is as an external drive. Transfer rates average at 95mbps whereas our backup ssd external drives have a transfer rate of a maximum of 48mbps. Then using Samsung’s data migration tool, I was able to clone 240gb of data from our gaming laptop to this drive for roughly an hour (or roughly 4gb per minute). Once done, I have noticed that the SSD was extremely hot. So I then had to purchase a 1 mm copper heatsink with thermal tape.
I then installed it to our laptop and boot times was extremely fast. My estimate was not over thirty seconds perhaps less. (I just counted and our previous SSD boots in within a minute or so.) Using Samsung Magician, I observed the temperature of the SSD was at 46C (34C upon startup) with the heatsink on which is still considered as normal. I would guess that without the heatsink installed, the temperature would be around 60-70C.
The speed of this SSD is still not yet maximized as I have not yet made a PCIe 4.0 based gaming rig. But it sure is definitely fast. One thing to note that at this point in time it is quite expensive as it still considered bleeding edge. Add the fact that there is a chip shortage as of time due to the pandemic hence really increasing the price. That said I would still recommend this SSD but I would also recommend it that you use it on a PCIe 4.0 compatible motherboard to fully maximize its potential.

The Jlab Work Go Office headset is a value for money pair of headset suited for working at home or in the office. Though the model is made of plastic, it doesn’t feel cheap. It has a boom which can be used left or right by just rotating the boom.
The battery has an impressive life of 45 hours and can be fully charged within two hours. I haven’t fully tested the battery but I now have used around 20 hours by my estimate. But knowing Jlab, the performance of their products are within range of it stated capacity. The headset comes with a USB-C cable and an auxiliary wire for a wired connection.
One thing to note though is that during audio calls, the sound of the speaker on the other end of the call is somewhat muffled. Also, there seems to be a noticeable gap in calls. Further, since these are on-ear headphones the do become a bit warm on your ears. For this I am reducing one star. Otherwise, this is a solid performer.

The Jlab GO Air True Wireless earbuds is the younger sibling of the highly popular Jlab Jbuds Air True Wireless earbuds. They are essentially the same save for the charging case which is an open type of case with magnets holding the earbuds and a battery of 5 hours per charge and with a total of 20 hours using the charging case. And like most Jlab TWS, a charging cable is attached to its case.
Included also are three sets of ear gel tips. And these are available in four colors namely black, white, blue, and olive green. The sound signature and feature set of the Jlab GO Air is similar to the Jbuds. At its current price point this is a “bang for the buck” pair of TWS earbuds. I’d highly recommend this pair.

VP83 LensHopper Camera-Mount Condenser Shotgun Microphone

The Shure VP83 Lenshopper condenser microphone has been for eight years (afaik) and is still great run and gun videographers tool next to its elder silbing the VP83F. Why you may ask? It’s because of its simplicity. With a chassis made of metal, it still weighs only a little less than six ounces making it as it were made of plastic but has the build quality you would expect.
The VP83 is powered by a single AA battery which can power the mic for 130 hours. In the power switch there is an option to use the low-cut feature to reduce low frequency sound. There is also a switch to adjust gain for the mic. These can be adjusted to work with your dslr or camcorder to get the best audio possible. While the gain range is limited to -10dB, 0 and +20dB, it’s best to experiment which would yield the best results. In my case, using a -10dB and turning the low-cut filter option gives the best result when used with my Nikon D7200. Your results may vary though depending on your camera and its corresponding settings.
Being a directional microphone, its off-axis performance performs very decent. But my one gripe with the VP83 is that it should have included a deadcat with this microphone. Still the VP83 performs as advertised.

The Filtrete - 310 Sq. Ft. Smart Air Purifier for Large Room is as advertised. Operation is pretty straightforward and practically there is no need to read the manual. Once you have removed the plastic cover of filter itself and plug it in, you’re ready to go!
On top of the air purifier is a touch control panel with the power button on the left then fan controls, a timer, a filter life gauge and a light control button. On the bottom of these controls is an indoor air monitor. Just set the fan to auto and that’s it!
In order to use the smart features of the purifier, just download the app and scan the QR at the inside of the unit at the bottom of the filter. The app has all the feature found in the control panel plus it can also monitor the air outside your home.
There is nothing much more to say about this filter except for that it is a rock solid performer!

I brought this phone for $50 during Thanksgiving and this phone was delivered to me after 30 days but I thought OK its late but may be worth it.
I start using this phone and haven't made even 5 calls this phone restarting by itself every min, so i did factory reset and tried all other suggestions from online forums but nothing helped. Since this is under warranty i had to ship it Alcatel repair center but on my own pocket expenses, AH!.
Alcatel should cover shipping fees as its their fault that their phone is faulty.
Alcatel don't even have their store/facility locations where i can go give my phone for repair physically rather paying for shipping.
I would also recommend that Best Buy has brand name and they should NOT allow low quality brands/product to be sold on their site.

I also bought mine during Thanksgiving and had the same problem. I called Alcatel and they acknowledged that there is a hardware problem and emailed a shipping label for FedEx. Within a week or so I received a replacement phone via UPS. Do note I did pay for shipping and replacement of my phone. In fairness to Alcatel this replacement phone does not have the random reboots anymore.

Every time I try to print or scan it tells me that I need to replace an ink cartridge to access anything on the printer. Ex: I replace the magenta and print one black and white document then it tells me I need to replace the magenta again. Epson customer service tells me "replace the ink cartridge" and nothing else. Printing one 5 page black and white document per month is costing me approximately $20 per month.

Everytime you replace a cartridge, calibration reduces ink in the other cartridges. You'd be better off with tri-color cartridges,

What phone plans can I use. I want a go phone plan. Like page plus where I can pay 6-10 cents a minute over 3- 4 months. Not a monthly plan.
You can have that option when you try to activate your SIM online.

Is the reception strong? And will it work with post pay plan?
Reception is quite strong. Also it is capable of wifi calling in areas with weak coverage. And it will still work with a post paid plan. Your SIM must be a nano SIM though.

How much available space you get after you activate the phone?
Around 2.8GB left after the phone autoupdates after first opening it. A lot of junkware is installed. Can't seem to port file to SD card though. Still it serve its purpose.

Will printer and Office be compatible with Windows 7
I am considering purchasing HP or Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. This will be upgrade from Windows XP. Will my present printer HP 3100 series be compatible and can I download Windows Office that I have now?

what do you think of MSI laptops?
How would you rate MSI laptops against other laptops for general applications?
MSI is relatively new and build quality is a bit shoddy. But slowly it has been improving over the years. Specs wise, it's a value for money system.
