A little but awesome flosser
on May 4, 2022

By all means dental flossers have been pretty much the same. Being that one dental tool that you use but not able to carry along when you go around. The Burst Water Flosser takes it to a new level. How, it is a portable and battery operated dental flosser.
So first, what comes out of the box? Well it is a well packaged device with a graphic layout similar to toys making it standout compared to other flossers which come in drab packaging design. Inside the box you’ll find the flosser itself but with the water reservoir detached, a removable flossing tip, a charger with cable and some user manuals.
The flosser comes in pre-charged. But of course you’ll fully charge it by the time you use it regularly. Prior to use, you have to place the flossing tip and the water reservoir. There is a main power button. And when you press and hold the power button, the water flosser is initially set to standard mode and will switch to pulse mode. Another hold and press and you get to turbo mode. I have tried all water modes so as to determine which mode will provide me with the best results. The standard mode seems to work best for me. And as a travel or portable water flosser, this comes with a travel bag.
Overall, the Burst Water Flosser works as advertised. And the only gripe I can think of is that the reservoir can only contain little water that you my have to refill the flosser even before you finish. But in general, I am happy with the product. I would recommend this to all.

Awesome sound but call quality a bit wanting

How Often Used:Daily
The Marshall brand has been around since 1962. Primarily it is known for its line of guitar amplifiers. The brand in the past few years have decided to venture into the consumer space by launching Marshall branded bluetooth speakers and wireless earbuds. And for those who don’t know, Marshall Bluetooth speakers and wireless earbuds are manufactured by Sound Industries, a known OEM manufacturer for Bluetooth audio devices based in Sweden whereas Marshall is based in England. But that does not necessarily mean that Marshall speakers and earbuds are not good. So let me tell you why by reviewing the Marshall Mode II TWS earbuds.
Let’s start with the build quality and design aesthetics. Overall, I like the design aesthetic of the Mode II earbuds. The charging case is small which IMO is good and generally made from plastic. But what I like most about the charging case is that it has a rubberized texture similar in feel to the housing of Marshall amplifiers and speakers. The iconic white Marshall logo is clearly pronounced in the case. The earbuds themselves are made from plastic with a rubberized coating with the white M is displayed. Clearly, this is branding in general. Highlights the status of Marshall. It projects itself as a lifestyle audio device which unlike others need to be touted heavily. But with the Marshall logo, it already speaks for itself.
So now we have established that the Marshall brand is iconic. But what about its performance? First, it boasts of around five hours of continuous playback with an additional twenty hours provided by the charging case. While it’s true that other TWS earbuds can have more battery power, this really becomes moot since wearing earbuds for a five hour stretch is not realistic. You can argue about what about long flights. Still you won’t be wearing your earbuds all the time. You’ll also have a break in listening to music by either sleeping or watching a movie during the long haul flight. And twenty hours is quite sufficient for me since I can go on a work week without having to charge the case. Though I must admit thirty hours seems to be the norm nowadays especially for those so called “no name” brands which still carry their own weight.
The Marshall Mode II can be charged either by USB-C which is pretty much the standard nowadays. And the charging case can also be charged wirelessly though I prefer to use a cable. But then again it’s nice to have and it is also becoming the norm for most earbuds at this price range.
As for audio, I would say that the default or signature of the Marshall Mode II packs a punch. For the average person, the highs and mids are crisp. And bass is very decent. There is a downloadable companion app for both iOS and Android wherein you can customize the earbuds including the audio output though I am already happy with the signature sound. The companion also has a transparency mode, but unfortunately there is no ANC in the mode II. Do note that there are branded earbuds at this price range have ANC.
As for call quality, it is a hit or miss for me. While overall the call quality is acceptable and the calling party’s voice is fairly clear (not crystal sharp), the mics are a bit weak. Often the other party complains about my voice. This is definitely one area Marshall can improve on.
So, overall the Marshall Mode II TWS earbuds is a solid performer but due to the lack of ANC and mores the mediocre call quality allows me to remove one star on my book. But nonetheless if you want rock solid audio (and knowing the earbuds’ limitation), I’d still recommend the Marshall Mode II.

A good "mini" humidifier!
on December 17, 2021

Humidifiers are quite often bulky and noisy. And for the casual user, the unused water in a seldom used humidifier often gets stale and leads to a stench which negates really purpose of a humidifier. This is also attributed to the expensive filters included which become hard to find when you need replacement ones.
Here comes Pure Enrichment - MistAir Silver 0.4 Gal. (1.5 L) Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier. This is a small countertop humidifier measuring roughly 8”x6”x8”. With a size like this you’d hardly notice it at all and finding a space for it won’t be a problem. And unlike most humidifiers, this does not require filters and is really quite that you really can’t hear it.
Operation of this device is really quite simple. Obviously, you have to fill the tank with water first. And there is just one power on button. The first press turns it on and sets in low. The second press turns on the night light. And the third press sets it to high and the fourth to turn on the night light. The fifth press simply turns of the unit. It’s as simple as that. Moreover, on top of the unit is a control to direct the mist of the unit. And also there is a low water indicator. There is not much to say more about this unit save for the fact that it works as advertised and it works good! And now I am recovering from an illness, it is at my bedside providing me with a breathe of fresh air while I am ad bedrest. I would highly recommend this “mini” humidifier.

A great accessory for your Ring!
on December 15, 2021

The one that bothers all users of battery operated devices is that at one point the battery is eventually going to wear off and is in need of replacement or recharging. The ever popular Ring Video Doorbell is no exception (unless it is wired) is no exception to this. And while the Ring has decent battery life of around two to three months, I must admit it is a hassle the charge the Ring doorbell since you have to unscrew it from its base and charge it for several hours leaving you unsecured during that time. But of course, you can always get a spare battery so that you can just replace it immediately. But the lower priced models no longer have a replaceable battery. This review is more for Ring models which do not have a replaceable battery.

So the most obvious solution to that if you do not have a wired option is to have solar option for that. Here comes the Wasserstein Mountable Solar Charger For Ring Video Doorbell 1 (2nd Generation 2020). Of course the Ring has its own. But sometimes availability and pricing may influence your decision making.
Designed similarly like the Ring solar accessory, the Wasserman Solar Charger is a wall mount with solar panels on the side. You must attach your Ring (I have the Ring 2020 version) to the base which as a USB connector to ensure that your Ring doorbell is being trickle charge. (As of now I couldn’t tell how fast it could charge my doorbell. But I am confident that this product can help in the battery in a charged condition all the time.)
There are screws to fasten your Ring to the solar charger and there definitely mounting screws for your wall. And if that’s not an option, 3M double tape should do the trick. And I myself am having second thoughts on drilling my brick wall. That said, using the Wasserman solar charger is easy peasy. I’d highly recommend it to others.

Good but with some caveats

The Belkin - SOUNDFORM Freedom True Wireless Earbuds Environmental Noise Cancelling (ENC) is one of Belkin’s new models and is the first to be compatible with Apple’s Find My Device feature. The earbuds boasts of an eight hour battery life plus an extra 28 hours if used with the included charger.
The included charger has a USB port and a button to connect with your Apple device. Also, the included charging case is Qi enabled giving you the ability to charge wirelessly. This feature is slowly becoming an industry standard. Do note that these earbuds will still work on Android devices via blue tooth sans the Find My Device feature. I, however, could not find any information as to what version of BT is used. Further, these earbuds support AptX which is supported by Android but not Apple. AAC is still the codec used for Apple devices.
The earbuds themselves have a stemmed design which may or not appeal to people. But is more of a user preference. They come with the usual set of three silicone eartips and at first glance seem to fit snugly. I found fitting the earbuds seem quirky to put on or maybe it’s just my ears. However, these earbuds have a weak noise isolation (not canceling). For some this may be a plus since it lets you hear your surroundings and is a preferred trait if you are out and about. As for me, I prefer total isolation.
The touch controls work as advertised. It’s quite easy to use the earbuds even without an app. As mentioned in the description, the Soundform True Wireless earbuds have Environmental Noise Canceling technology. This is not to be confused with Active Noise Cancelling technology wherein other people claim that there’s false advertising. ENC is Belkin’s term for Clear Call Technology which works by cancelling outside noise thereby making your voice clearer to the other line. Please take note of this when considering purchasing this so that you won’t be disappointed. I have tried making calls and was told my voice was fine.
As for music, the highs and mids are fine but bass is lacking. I am not actually a bass person but bass can surely widen the sound of these earbuds. Normally this can be fixed via an app. But unfortunately, these earbuds did not include an app. I wish Belkin would release an app so the functionality of the earbuds can be adjusted to one’s preference. And lastly, firmware updates are done through the Find My App.
There is still a lot to be addressed with these improvements. But currently these are on sale right now and it is still worth looking into.

Great but still needs work
on November 18, 2021
Posted by: msumulong
from Glendora, CA
The Jabra Elite 7 Pro is touted as the replacement for the Jabra Elite 75t or perhaps the Jabra Elite Active 75t. First thing you’ll notice is that the Elite Pros are said to be 16% smaller than the 75ts. And this may not be noticeable much in the 75ts (which I don’t have), they are much more noticeable compared to the 65ts (which I do have).
Also, the Jabra Elite Pros have a smaller and flatter charging case which has Qi or wireless charging capabilities similar to the 85ts and later variants of the 75ts. And aside from Qi charging, the Elite Pros have a USB-C port. But oddly enough, the charging port is in front of the charging pack. While this may be no big deal for me, it would still raise eyebrows for some.
Notable improvements in the Elite Pros are the extended battery life wherein the earbuds lasts 8-9 hours and up to a maximum of 30 hours. This is a nominal improvement over the 75ts but double that of the 65ts.
The Elite Pros comes with three sets of silicone eartips and does seem to fit well. (The Jabra Soundplus+ app does have a feature to see if the eartips fit well on you.) This is a vast improvement over the fit of the 65ts that I had to purchase memory foam tips as my old 65ts kept on falling. This is not the case for the Elite Pros.
As for the sound quality, the Elite Pros have a well-balanced or conservative sound signature. But owners of the 75ts will say that the Elite Pros lack bass. Perhaps the 75ts cater mor to those who prefer bass heavy music but IMO the Elite Pros have decent bass and when the equalizer is set to bass boost, one can feel bass thumps but not over empowering bass. But then again, sound is subjective. But I can definitely say that the Jabra Elite Pros have a warmer and fuller (having more bass) than the Sony XM3s which I also have and a cleaner and/or crispier sound compared to my 65ts.
The Jabra Elite Pros boasts of bone conducting technology for phone calls. But as per my usage, the voice on the other line seems to be muffled too. In truth my Jabra 65ts seems to be better. The jury is still out on this one. ANC seems to be top notch canceling low frequencies quite well. However, the mids and highs are barely canceled. This seems to be in the territory of Bose and Sony. Still I would rate the Elite Pros’ ANC as rather good.
Now for the downside. Most comments you’ll read about is the lack of multi-point Bluetooth. People are wondering why was this not included since Jabra’s other models have Bluetooth multipoint. Likewise, you have to pair again the Elite Pros whenever you switch devices. I have an iPhone and a Pixel and it is quite cumbersome to pair these earbuds whenever I switch phones. Also for whatever reasons, these top models the lack of the aptX. Sure you may say that AAC/SBC is already great but it makes you wonder that the entry level Elite 3 has aptX support. Also, there have been reports of of static/crackling noise when toggling between ANC/Hear Through/Power which is quite annoying.
To be fair to Jabra, a firmware upgrade has been made by Jabra which already fixed the static issue. Hopefully the BT issues will be addressed soon. Remember, Jabra added ANC to the 75ts through software alone. So, I am confident that Jabra will do justice on these earbuds. But then again, I am not reviewing on the basis of promises alone so I will have to deduct one star for this review and put out a disclaimer on this model until the said issues are addressed though I am confident that Jabra will do the right thing. That said this is still a great pair of earbuds.

A multi-function TENS device
on November 3, 2021
Posted by: msumulong
from Glendora, CA
The Beurer - Digital TENS Device maybe a simple TENS device but it actually has some value to it. First, it has rechargeable battery include with a USB-C. (And though not an issue for me, but it most devices save cellphones and TWS earbuds still have the older micro-USB standard.) Size like a medium-sized cell phone the Beurer TENS device is actually a multi-function device. Of course it has the TENS function for muscle pain relief. But since this device emits small electrical pulses, it can also act as an EMS device for muscle development. On top of that it has a heat function which is not really found in TENS devices.
The TENS mode features fifteen programs, three of which you can program yourself. For the EMS mode, you have 35 programs of which three can be self-programmed. But personally, I plan to use the TENS programs more often. And on top of that, there is a heat mode so that you can have a better feel for relaxation. Charging the unit via USB-C takes between one to two hours. As indicated above, there are around fifty programs to choose from. And I highly suggest that you keep the manual for reference.
There are four pads included which is connected to the unit also via USB-C. Again the manual is good reference for where to put these pads in your body. Unfortunately, there are only four gel pads included in this package though I wish it had an extra set. Nonetheless, gel pads are easily available. (I have ordered a thirty-pack from another vendor as of this writing.)
I am quite pleased the Beurer Digital TENS device. This is highly recommended.

This is a handy heat therapy device
on November 3, 2021
Posted by: msumulong
from Glendora, CA
The Beurer - Infrared Heat Lamp is a simple device used for pain therapy via infrared heat. This device which oddly looks like a gaming device from the 80s (see picture) is fairly simple to use. Just position the ceramic infrared heating element to your body and power it on. (In essence there is no need to read the manual to operate it. But it is strongly suggested that you do.) It has an adjustable heating time with a maximum of fifteen minutes for safety reasons. Mind you this device gets hot! (Note no specific BTUs were indicated though.)
But what about simply using a heater? Well the advantage of this heat lamp aside from being portable is that it has a wattage of only 300 watts. Compare that to the usual 1500-1800 watts used in a home heater. And if you are worried about getting eye damage, a pair of eye protectors are included as well.
Overall this is a highly recommended device for heat therapy.

Definitely a good product!

I’ve been using electric Dremel type of manicure/pedicure sets for quite some time. But I can clearly state that this Beurer manicure/ pedicure set takes the cake. FIrst my electric manicure set is corded. So a wireless one is a benefit. Second and most important is that the rotation speed of this set is neither too strong nor too weak which is a godsend. It’s sapphire and felt tips just provide the right amount of pressure when filing my nails. Quite often, corded manicure sets tend to have a lot of torque so much care is needed when using those. Beurer set provides several tips and two for calluses. And I must say I haven’t tried all of the tips yet, but I can say that the ones that I did use are far superior to the ones I am using. The sapphire tips alone are subtle to the touch and yet they perform quite well. Also being cordless further gives the advantage of ease of use. This manicure set is a cut above the rest when compared to my corded set. And with going to the salon no longer cheap, this adds to savings on your part. I’d definitely recommend this to everyone.

A solid pair of mid-priced TWS earbuds!
on October 8, 2021
Posted by: msumulong
from Glendora, CA
The Soundcore - by Anker Life Note 3S Earbuds True Wireless In-Ear Headphones is the latest model of the Soundcore Life Note series of true wireless earbuds. One thing to note in this pair of earbuds aside from the stems are that these dispense with the silicone eartips and went to Apple-like shaped earbuds. Now some of you may or not like these being similar to Airpods but that is matter of personal choice. One may notice though is that this pair of TWS earbuds are extremely light and gives a plasticky and less than premium feel to them. That said, once put on your ear is that they feel not existent in your ear. And there is a decent amount of noise isolation with these in spite of the absence of silicone ear tips. Furthermore, there seems to be a firm fit of the earbuds in my ears. This is achieved by the twisting of the earbuds to secure a firm fit.
The charging case comes with some welcome upgrades. First is the replacement of the older micro-USB charging port with the newer standard USB-C charging port. A separate cable is included in the box. And for those who prefer to ditch cables, the charging case is wireless capable charging case which is becoming a standard of TWS earbuds. But at this price point, this is still quite hard to find. Inside the charging case now includes a pairing button. This makes it very convenient to pair the earbuds with another audio source. The earbuds boast of a run time of five hours and the charging case can give you an additional six charges or a full 35 hours of power which is enough to last you almost a week under normal use. And if you are in a pinch, a ten minute charge can give you an hour’s worth of listening. Clearly, the feature set of the charging case is one that you’d find in more expensive TWS earbuds.
The Life Note 3S true wireless earbuds has 13.4 mm oversized drives with enhanced bass boost for a fuller sound compared to other earbuds. And if that still doesn;t satisfy you, the Life Note 3S is included in Soundcore’s music app. It has 20 sound presets a bass boost button and Soundcore’s signature sound preset with a customizable equalizer to boot. If that doesn’t meet your audio needs, I don’t know what will. But what is nice in the app that this particular model has added features such as left and right earbuds battery indicators. Also, enhanced touch controls are included with volume controls a feature not included in other Soundcore earbuds. If you’re into mobile gaming, the app now features a gaming mode which offers reduced latency. And last it has ten white noise settings with timer which helps you sleep rest and relax. Definitely these are features found in high end earbuds. These are definitely nice additions to a mid-priced pair of TWS earbuds.
Lastly, Life Note 3S true wireless earbuds have 4 microphones with noise reduction technology which offers clear calls though I am not sure if the Life Note 3S clear voice capture (CVC) noise suppression technology or some other similar noise reduction technology used for calls. Regardless, voice calls are quite clear on this model.
This is definitely a feature packed pair of TWS earbuds at mid-ranged price. It would be hard to pass up on this one if you are on a budget. I’d definitely recommend this pair of earbuds.

Worst experience ever buying this phone
By Gourav
I brought this phone for $50 during Thanksgiving and this phone was delivered to me after 30 days but I thought OK its late but may be worth it.
I start using this phone and haven't made even 5 calls this phone restarting by itself every min, so i did factory reset and tried all other suggestions from online forums but nothing helped. Since this is under warranty i had to ship it Alcatel repair center but on my own pocket expenses, AH!.
Alcatel should cover shipping fees as its their fault that their phone is faulty.
Alcatel don't even have their store/facility locations where i can go give my phone for repair physically rather paying for shipping.
I would also recommend that Best Buy has brand name and they should NOT allow low quality brands/product to be sold on their site.

Alcatel covers shipping costs
April 20, 2017
I also bought mine during Thanksgiving and had the same problem. I called Alcatel and they acknowledged that there is a hardware problem and emailed a shipping label for FedEx. Within a week or so I received a replacement phone via UPS. Do note I did pay for shipping and replacement of my phone. In fairness to Alcatel this replacement phone does not have the random reboots anymore.

Printed well until ink needed replacing
By Macinzim
Every time I try to print or scan it tells me that I need to replace an ink cartridge to access anything on the printer. Ex: I replace the magenta and print one black and white document then it tells me I need to replace the magenta again. Epson customer service tells me "replace the ink cartridge" and nothing else. Printing one 5 page black and white document per month is costing me approximately $20 per month.

Everytime you replace a cartridge, calibration reduces ink in the other cartridges. You'd be better off with tri-color cartridges,

You have to manually set the APN for AT&T as settings for AT&T are not pre-configured. Contact AT&T for the correct settings.

when you are in a call is only the right one supposed to work but with everything else, they both work?

Yes. And I am bewildered with that even if you are using both.

Who says you need a big box for big bass? The Bose Bass Module 500 will take your music, movies, and more to the next level. Its rich, thunderous bass in a compact, 10-inch cube makes it easy to hide and even easier to hear. Wireless connectivity allows you to place the Bose Bass Module 500 nearly anywhere. Leave it next to the TV or put it under your entertainment center - the choice is yours.

Can this be paired with the Bose SA5?

AFAIK it is only compatible only with the Bose 500, 700 and Soundtouch 300 soundbars.

The stylish Bose Soundbar 500 speaker is meant to be heard, not seen. Its thin profile fits discreetly under the TV screen, while its powerful acoustics fill the room with sound. And with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built in, all your favorite music is just an ask away, or use it as a central hub to control your existing smart home devices.

Is the 500 newer than the 300 and can you use with cinematic 15

The Bose 500 as well as the 700 were released August this year with the 700 being the replacement for the 300 as the latter does not have Alexa capabilities. All three soundbars like most soundbars have built-in ampliers. Also the three soundbars can use each others sub-woofers and share a common rear surround speaker model. But AFAIK these the 500 and the other models were not designed for the Cinemate series.

Google Play store states this phone does not have an Accelerometer, so cannot be used with Google glass.

Given that it is a low end Android phone, do not expect that it will have an accelerometer nor NFC. GPS and BT are standard features though.

Upgrade O/S to 6.0? Can this phone's O/S be upgraded?

Not officially. And I doubt if this will get an Android 6.0 update being a low cost phone.
