Its about the disease, not the cast.

Overall, I thought the movie was pretty good. I'm not sure why folks thought it was slowed paced. The scenes take you from place to place rather quickly, to follow the disease, not the characters. This is not the movie that dives deep into the background of the characters. Again, it's about the disease, not the cast. I would say that Jude Law has the most screen time, and Gwyneth Paltrow has the least. I don't want to leave any spoilers behind, so I will finish up with this. China must hate this movie. I liked it quite a bit.
What's great about it: The pace, from one area of the world to the next.
What's not so great: Some of the folks billed on the cover aren't in it very much.

A film that doesn't take itself seriously.

I did not see this movie in the theater, however, I did pick it up on sale here on Best Buy. All in all, I enjoyed the movie. Although I can only take Cameron Diaz in small doses, she was tolerable in this role. Tom Cruise has really expanded his acting roles these days. You have this role, Tropic Thunder, and Rock of Ages. There is a lot of tongue and cheek action that makes you think, What the $%&* !! If you think of this as a serious action movie, then you won't enjoy it as much. I'm thinking that the director was trying to make a satirical movie about how outlandish some action movies are these days. Maybe I'm wrong, but for me, that's what makes this movie so entertaining.
What's great about it: The blend of action and comedy.
What's not so great: I am still not a Cameron Diaz fan.

Overall a great tablet, especially for the price

Let me get the disclaimer out of the way. I bought this tablet for a specific function, for which I couldn't get it to work due to my own ignorance with the Android operating system. I ended up buying a netbook, which solves all of my problems, but in hind sight, I would have kept this tablet. For the price, this is a very good tablet. In this price range, you will not find another tablet that has Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and an HDMI out. Now if you're used to an IPad, it will take a little time to get used to the screen. Screen taps are not as smooth, but that is not a big deal. This tablet is very user friendly. I had no problem logging into wifi, downloading Amazon app store, and surfing the internet.
Now to the reason why I bought this tablet. I wanted it to play movies. Between the hdmi out and the micro sd card slot, I thought this was my device. The only problem is that the Android system only plays certain types of video files, and I couldn't get my movies to convert (that's a whole different story) to another format. MP4 is the most common format that this tablet will play, forget about WMV and all of those players in the app store blow.
Now the 2 negatives, the sound quality is tolerable, and it would be nice if there was an external home button. As it stands now, the only to get out of anything is continuous striking of the back key in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Which is kind of annoying.
Anyways, overall, a very good tablet especially for the price. I don't see the point in blowing coin on a $500 tablet. Just remember, don't expect any tech support or customer service from Visual Land. Thankfully their product speaks for itself.
What's great about it: Speed, Size, Features, and Price
What's not so great: Non existant customer service or tech support from Visual Land.

Not your childhood version

Here is the best thing I liked about the movie. The plot reveal was not until the very end. So many movies blow it way too early. This movie had a nice build up. The cinematography was excellent, and the acting was ok, considering you had some Syfy channel regulars in there. Sometimes I wonder what goes through an actor's head when they accept roles such as this (Gary Oldman). Kind of a big name for a small movie as this. Take a look at the credits for the producers for another big name involved. Overall, it was an enjoyable movie, and it kept my attention.
What's great about it: The suspense
What's not so great: Some of the acting

Better than I thought it was going to be

I have seen so many negative reviews for this movie, that I almost didn't buy it. I had missed it in the theater and I really wanted to see it, so I took a chance. Granted a better job could have been done with the plot, by both the lack of and holes. However, the action more than makes up for the week plot point. Jason Momoa rocks during the fight scenes. Lots of blood of course. The CG effects were realistic and the landscapes really made the film. It you are just looking for a good entertaining popcorn movie, then this is your film. If you looking for something with substance, go see a chick flic.
What's great about it: Action
What's not so great: Plot

Think of it as a sequel not a reboot.

This is obviously a tribute to Christopher Reeve's Superman rather than a franchise reboot. If you look at it with that perspective, I think you will enjoy the movie a whole lot more. Brandon Routh does a good job in capturing the inflections when switching between Clark Kent and Superman, but it's only an impersonation of Christopher Reeve. Nothing more and nothing less. The plot was predictable but a lot better when compared to Superman III and IV ( can Superman go back in time and wipe those from our memory too ?). Now the CGI work in this movie has it's pros and cons. Overall it had a very artificial look to it. You could tell when characters were altered or "cleaned up". Compared to regular dvd, the blu-ray version is a lot cleaner. Except for a couple of shots, (as Joman called it, ghosting and blur), the resolution is a lot better in blu-ray. The sound was crisp and full as well. I watched this movie back to back with the original Superman in blu-ray, and I was more blown away with that movie than this one. I look forwarded to the true reboot that is coming in 2012.
What's great about it: Resolution and sound
What's not so great: Plot and character development, climax was weak.

Should be a requirement in Blu-ray

This review is coming from someone who has seen this film in the theater, vhs, dvd, and now blu-ray. Seeing it in blu-ray was like watching it all over again. The resolution is amazing !!! Between the clarity of the background shots and the clean up of where Superman is optically added to the shot, this is a must have in any movie collection. The sound clarity was awesome too, with good balance. I've noticed with a lot of older movies converted to surround sound, the rear channels get overloaded with what should be heard with the front channels. Not so in this case, the sound was rich and full and never sounded metallic or faint. At the end, when Superman turns back time, you can actually hear the sound go from left to right and right to left depending on what direction he was flying. It's nice to see that someone took the time to remaster the sound correctly. I noticed a lot of different things when I watch movies, and I discovered a few things due to the clarity that I had never noticed before, but I won't post spoilers. Anyways, I'd recommend this blu-ray copy !!!
What's great about it: Video resolution and remastering of sound
What's not so great: Not a thing !!
