can I upgrade a 2007 e-machine with a terrabyte hard drive?
Yes you can. You may have to partition it if you are using any thing other than Windows 7 or Windows 8.

If your Acer has a HDMI socket, than an HDMI cable would work just fine as long as your TV has HDMI inputs.

APC power supply/surge protecter-will it STOP my ANTIQUE Hughes NON HD DVR from constantly rebooting due to voltage drops?
Have OLD-almost 10 yrs- Hughes 40 hr. NON HD DVR that works fine UNTIL voltage drops-due to antique house wiring-60 amp service with shotgun fuses and screw in (bypass with a penny if you want to incinerate house) fuses. Will adding a 200WATT-350 VA APC power supply even out voltage and cure problem-DVR draws 40W and TV is 65-total 105 WATTS?
That would depend on how long you want the equipment to run when the voltage is low. I would suggest getting an UPS that will meet your requirements for length of time up when your voltage is low. It can not hurt.

A cable guy told me about a cigarette lighter-size attachment for my junction box to give me wifi--what kind of equipment is he referring to?
He is most likely talking about a USB WIFI connector. You can buy them at any store that sells computers or phones. Load the software and plus the device into a usb port and you will attach to a WIFI network.

What do I need To connect my lap top to internet?
If your laptop has WIFI, than all you have to do is activate it and pick your Wifi signal and sign in. If you do not have WIFI on your laptop, than you need to plug an eithernet cable (CAT-5 cable) into the RJ45 socket on your computer. Sing in and you will be on the internet.

what should I buy to back up my new computer. I would rather not use a disc.
I would suggest using a Jump Drive. If the jump drive is too small, than use a external USB Hard Drive. They are fast and safe.
