Based on the characters from the series of best-selling books by Ann M. Martin, The Babysitters Club concerns a group of seven girls, all edging into their teenage years, who are close friends and have formed a cooperative babysitting service. Their business has become so successful that the girls decide to expand their horizons and start a summer day camp for kids; they soon discover, however, that not all the adults in the neighborhood think this is a good idea, and they learn a lesson about cooperation and responsibility. Meanwhile, Kristy (Schuyler Fisk), the leader of the group, lives with her mother (Brooke Adams) and stepfather (Bruce Davison); when her father (Peter Horton), an undependable wanderer, shows up, he asks Kristy not to tell her mother that he's in town, and Kristy is torn about what to say. Stacy (Bre Blair) has another sort of dilemma to deal with: She's tall and pretty and has met a boy who likes her; however, he thinks she's older than she actually is, leading her into a dating dilemma for which she may not be ready. The Babysitters Club was the first theatrical feature for actress-turned-director Melanie Mayron. Schuyler Fisk is the daughter of actress Sissy Spacek and director/designer Jack Fisk. The DVD contains a trailer section with previews for Little Secrets and Daddy Day Care.

Class reunions can be a nightmare for some of us, but when Romy and Michelle stunningly re-invent themselves for their ten-year reunion, the results are sure to be hilarious in this fun release from Walt Disney Video. Presented in widescreen 1.85:1 and featuring a closed-captioned English Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, this release also offers an additional French Dolby Digital Surround track. Extra features include a production featurette and a theatrical trailer.

Warner Home Video, having succeeded far better than expected with its Best of Friends collection (which highlighted some of the best episodes from the sitcom's first six seasons), went ahead and released the entire first season in a four-disc collection. This was a bold move, and superficially, at least, one of dubious wisdom -- the series was all over local television and basic cable, stacked in both television realms on a daily basis, so there was no shortage of episodes on most peoples' viewing list. It pays off for the fans, however, thanks to the pristine transfers, which look gorgeous, and the extras, the best of which is the commentary track over the unedited pilot, featuring the series three creator/producers: Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane. They explain a lot about the development of the series and the changes that they were forced to make as the series went on -- most notably the reduction in the number of ancillary, non-story-driven jokes -- and even such matters as the color scheme of Monica's (Courteney Cox) apartment, which was deliberately made brighter than the norm for network sitcoms. Among the interesting information offered about the cast is the fact that David Schwimmer was the only actor for whom one of the characters was specifically written; that Lisa Kudrow's character, Phoebe, was adjusted to make her the twin sister of Kudrow's Ursula character on Mad About You (which was in the time slot immediately ahead of Friends), opening up a whole range of range of comic possibilities for the actress and the writers; and that Courteney Cox was originally approached about playing Rachel rather than Monica. The producers also discuss such matters as the way in which they resonate to the characters, the relationship between the series and their personal experience as twentysomethings, and the evolution of the title-theme and the back-and-forth with the Rembrandts over whether or not to release a commercial version of the theme. The only complaint about the discs is that each show is given a single chapter reference number, not that breaks are essential in what, except for the pilot (which was re-edited to include material that was shot for it but dropped from the original broadcast), are 24-minute episodes. The mastering on this disc is very careful, to the point that, when a song comes up in a scene, the volume boosts up slightly. The fourth disc also includes a trivia contest that incorporates clips from the show in its interactive functions, as well as a gallery of guest stars from the first season.

OMG! 5 is finally out for the First time EVER!!!!
By MermaidQueen89 from Fargo,ND
God Bless you Lionsgate. Boy Meets World is my most favorite show ever on TV. I can connect with the characters. I laugh, cry, relate to every scenario they have. I am sure I speak for a lot when I say that it speaks to kids who are " coming of age" just like Cory, Shawn, Topanga and Eric. We all have a best buddy like Shawn, or go through our first crush( My crush is actually Will Friedle who plays Eric-LOL typical girl I am) or get in fights with our siblings , parents, even best friends then make up. I cant tell you how many times I watched an episode and said " Boy..where have I heard that before, Or gee...I went through the same thing." Its funny and teaches lessons without sounding preachy. So you learn while having a great time. The days of the old Disney channel I will never forget.
