George Stevens' classic American Western Shane comes to DVD with a standard full-frame 1.33:1 (as should any film produced before 1955). A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo, while a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track by the director's son, who was a production assistant on the film, and a theatrical trailer. This package will please all those who have fond memories of this film, while offering a great way to introduce Shane to a new generation.

I purchased thid DVD for my Father-In-Law. He's been looking for thid DVD for what seems like forever. I told him I'd contact your store but it wasn't at the store so I had to order it online. I did so and to make a long story short, my Father-In-law dropped everything and had to get home straight-a-way to see Shane when it was delivered. Great work!
What's great about it: Great Story for a Great Price
Henry Fonda gave one of his finest performances in this classic Western drama, which has been given a fine presentation for this DVD release. The Ox-Bow Incident has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1. Viewers can choose between the original audio track in Dolby Digital Mono, a remixed version in Dolby Digital Stereo, and a dubbed Spanish track in Dolby Digital Mono. The disc also includes optional subtitles in English and Spanish. Bonus material for this edition includes a commentary track featuring film historian Dick Eulain and William Wellman Jr., son of the film's director William Wellman; a documentary on Henry Fonda produced for the television series Biography; a gallery of production stills; and a short feature on the restoration of the film.

Never rush to judgement until all the facts are in. Great movie with superb acting with great scenes. Saw it about twenty years ago on VHS. Saw it again recently and it's still a great movie.
What's great about it: The lesson it provides.
What's not so great: Not so great at the box office
Not too preacy, but you would be suprised how in some parts of the country the attitude sttill holds true. Great movie for 1967. We need more movies that evoke the passion and lessons this movie display.
What's great about it: Life Lesson
What's not so great: Dialog, But excellent for thr time frame
