Give your family safe, fresh-testing water with Samsung genuine filters. Samsung water filters remove over 99% of numerous harmful contaminants, including lead. Each filter lasts for 6 months or 300 gallons.

I just bought my new fridge a few months ago and was changing the water filter for the first time. I noticed 2 things.... When I put the new filter in it squealed loudly when dispensing water. I took it out and put it back in about 5 times because the squealing would change in pitch and frequency each time. The last time it was still squealing but not as bad. After using the water in the door for about 2 weeks the squeal stopped and has not done it since. However, I swear that the water does not flow as fast as it did with the original filter that came with the unit (same model number of course). I know the water came out much faster before. Sometimes it drives me crazy because I am not patient enough for the water to come out at that pace. There is nothing I can do about either issue.
As far as purchasing one goes... They are very hard to find. I called several stores (that were not Best Buy) and everyone was out of stock. They tell me they are hard to keep in stock. Luckily, Best Buy had one, but Best Buy price is about $6 higher than a large chain hardware/do-it-yourself store, but Best Buy had one and I needed it at any price.
NOTE: With the new Samsung fridge the water and ice started tasting absolutely horrible a couple of days before the icon changed red indicating a change was needed, so I would recommend having one on hand just as soon as the icon begins to change colors because you may have to change it immediately. (We had to buy ice for a couple of days when I was trying to locate a filter).

What's great about it: Easy to change, easy to access.
What's not so great: Water flows slower and filter squealed for 2 weeks
