This film has could be called of the 'court room Exorcist', most of the story is told in vivid witness flash backs, I would highly recommended this film if you like strong character based horror supported by some really convincing acting. A disturbing account of demonic possession, this case had to go through the court system to save a priests liberty. The Blue-ray picture quality is good, but I have seen much better. This is not the best disc to add to your collection to show of the superior quality of HD but I would highly recommend this film!
What's great about it: HD Picture is perfect
What's not so great: Picture and sound is top notch
not too bad but if you are interested in facts about the Bell Witch, this is not the movie to see. The movie is lacking some key elements of the real legend, adds others that are completely wrong and the end is only one of possible explanations (which the movie does state), and to my knowledge, one of the least plausible. But it is entertaining - has some good creepy moments and Donald Sutherland & Sissy Spacek are, of course, both great.
This was a real surprise - VERY enjoyable and quite scary in a good ol' fashioned fun way. DON'T miss the first 5 minutes which not only is vital to the rest of the movie - but offers quite a chilling scare right out of the gate. Both the acting by the cast and the story itself were really good - and it's just one of those movies that every once in awhile you plop into your Blu/ DVD player thinking its going to be a ho-hum movie to pass your time and ends up grabbing your attention and holding it rather quickly - and you'll not be disappointed.
Poltergeist has always been one of my favourite films of all time, so when I saw it was being released for Blu-Ray I bought it right away. This Blu-Ray format brings a whole new dimention to the film compared to the dvd version. The clarity/picture gets top marks, and makes it all that more real, which totally immerses you into the film and scares you a whole lot more than previously. This Blu-Ray is a must for all Poltergeist fans, and also fans who just love to be scared. Buy!!
What's great about it: Much clearer picture thanks to BD
It's a real testament to the skills behind the camera that this now over-familiar, much imitated seminal psycho killer on the loose movie still manages to scare the Bejesus out of you. But that's why 'Halloween' is the granddaddy of these kind of movies - spare, lean, intense, surprisingly subtle and remarkably atmospheric. Carpenter takes his time setting the scene so when the night falls, we're in for one of the most frightening film experiences you could possibly imagine. The film has never looked better on Blu-ray - beautifully crisp - and the 5.1 surround sound mix is stunning.
What's great about it: Take it from me the picture and sound is breathtaking
This movie was cool: well-acted, well-filmed, genuinely creepy. Twist endings are overused these days, especially when the films that precede them are boring. But this film and its ending totally worked for me. The Univited is more entertaining than a lot of the mainstream horror films which have come out recently.
What's great about it: Emily Browning and Elizabeth Banks both "sell" their roles perfectly
This movie was by far one of the scariest movies I'v seen in years. I have not been this scared since I was a child watching "Nightmare on Elm Street". The mystery and suspense of this movie will keep you guessing, and wanting more. At a certain age in our lives we begin to realize how unscary movies really are, but this is a movie which brings me back to the days of grabbing for the pillow and shivering. If your a person who enjoys scary movies and is not afaid of a little fear. Than this movie is definetly for you. I can honestly say, "I have not felt this scared from watching a movie in years". I strongly suggest everyone to watch this movie.
What's great about it: Nice and creepy
What's not so great: A couple of the scenes were really weird
