First off, these 2 movies should never have been packaged together. Not for the reasons most state, but just the opposite, Halloween 3 should be a stand alone movie outside of the Myers genre. Also, this makes no sense, why put 2 and 3 together? If anything, it should be 1 & 2.
I know, I know, people see this as a Michael Myers movie that went bad, but it's not. It never was. The real story behind the Halloween movie series (as explained by it's creator, John Carpenter) was supposed to be a series of all completely different halloween horror themed movies. Then, Hollywood took over, capitalizing on what they saw as a franchise.
So, with that in mind, this is a really cool movie. It's just too bad that they didn't follow that original line and split Michael from the story series.
This movie alone scared the c-r-a-p out of me as a kid. It's truly evil. What a great story never seen before or since. All the great elements to a creepy story including Halloween, small town, ghosts, witches, demons, hell, wicked technology and terrorizing families and their kids.
So, to really enjoy this movie, as it's own movie, just watch it as a movie called, Season of the Witch. You'll appreciate it.
Happy, Happy Halloween, Silver Shamrocks!
What's great about it: Halloween III
What's not so great: That it has the Halloween series attached to it.
This third film in the Halloween cycle -- which marked a unique and distinctive break from the original story line -- has been given a solid presentation for its release on DVD. Halloween III: Season of the Witch has been given a letterboxed transfer at its original widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1, which has been enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors. The audio, in English, is presented in its mono original mix, mastered in Dolby Digital Mono; the disc also features optional subtitles in French and Spanish, as well as closed captions in English. No bonus material has been added for this edition.
