Feature Packed Laptop -- Good Price

I've owned it less than a week. Latest gen i7 processor, 16gb and FHD, not bad, plus I got a student discount, so it cost $804 plus tax. The one thing it doesn't have is SSD storage, but the 1 TB hard drive is reasonably fast, and I can swap in SSD later. Still getting used to touch screen. Track pad and touch sometimes behave erratically, e.g. the screen I was looking at suddenly minimizes (with trackpad) or there's "finger drag" where multiple items are selected in sequence when I didn't intend to do so (with touchscreen), and this is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I will monitor both behaviors and take the appropriate action should either become irksome. It looks great and the speakers are good. The Dell Inspiron 15 2-in-1 Touch (which I also looked at) is in the same price range and it does have 512 SSD, but its keyboard looks bad; doesn't have a numeric keyboard or backlit keys; and the speakers are on the bottom of the chassis. When I ran back and forth between the machines testing speeds (e.g. how fast Word came up), I honestly couldn't tell a difference. I didn't power them both down and up; the Dell probably would have booted up faster. But hey, you aren't powering down/up all day long.

Can this run Ubuntu? I would like to strip off Windows and replace it with Ubuntu or another Linux distro. But are there any gotchas I need to know before I buy for that purpose?
Don't see why not. The machine has the processing power (7th gen i7) and 16 GB RAM, and I've run Ubuntu on far less.

Does this laptop come with TB Solid State hard drive? I don't see it stating that it's a solid state.
You're right, it's a 1 TB hard drive, not solid state drive.

Is the laptop body made of plastic or aluminum?
I called HP sales to verify this point, and was told that all the machines in the Envy line are made of aluminum alloys.

Does this computer come with windows home or windows pro?
It comes with the Home edition. I sort of wanted Pro because it has Bitlocker encryption, but I didn't want to pay $100 extra.
