Serious flaw with case - do not buy
on July 25, 2017

Initially I loved this case. It's relatively thin, the keyboard felt great and was responseive, but then I tried to carry it.
Literally the first time I closed the case and went to put it in my bag - music started playing!
I quickly discovered if you hold the case by the side with the keyboard, the keys will press against the screen and activate the iPad. This was consistent and repeatable.
All within the first day of owning this case, I managed to accidentally play music multiple times, and finally - get locked out of the iPad.
I noticed the keyboard works when the iPad is flat, so I'm guessing it doesn't deactivate like Apples Smart Keyboard. Even if Logitech issues a patch that deactivates the keyboard when closed, I would still be nervous to have the keys pressing against the screen simply from transporting it.

Great! But update the BIOS/Windows 10 first...
on November 3, 2016

Everything is pretty stable with the latest updates (to BIOS/Windows 10), so make sure you do that first.
I'm switching to this from a 15" rMBP, due to 1TB of SSD being much cheaper on here, and the XPS15 actually letting you replace the SSD/RAM/battery/wifi card, incase anything goes wrong.
I have Linux (Ubuntu) dual booted, and about 500GB of software libraries on the SSD.
This computer is amazing, and the build quality isn't far from my 15" rMBP, in fact I actually prefer the XPS-15 over it..

Good case, ruined by screen degradation
on March 10, 2014

This case infuriates me. It is so close to being perfect, yet fails due to degrading the screen in a horrible, distracting way.
Let me back up. I've owned this version for the air, as well as two cases for the ipad mini retina. All of them suffered from the same problem, however I think the air made it more noticeable.
When talking about built in screen protectors, I've noticed two types of rainbow effects:
1. This is noticeable more so from an angle, and is primarily located in a fixed position. It may, for example, measure 2 inches by 3 inches (length x width) and be located in the lower center of the screen. You may only notice it when viewed at an angle, or certain lighting conditions. However, when in use, the ipad screen may appear clear, and the rainbow not noticeable.
2. This is the more annoying type, where the screen is 100% covered with tiny "rainbow artifacts." It's as if each pixel has its own mini-rainbow, and text is horribly distracting. You know how a finger print looks on your screen? Imagine that, all over, maybe a bit muted but just as noticeable.
Type 2 is what this cases suffers from, and has occurred with all three cases I've owned from the company.
I've also owned the griffin survivor, which has the same issue to a lesser extent (and is much more bulky), and the otterbox.
In the end, the otterbox is the one I went with. It's actually smaller, more protective with drops, and it feels of higher quality with a better grip. The screen protector is of a higher quality and doesn't produce the distracting rainbow affect this one does.
Another concern is button stickiness. On all three lifeproof fre's I've owned, there was an unevenness to the volume buttons. The lower one worked ok, while the top one was a struggle to push. You had to push it at a very specific angle, and at a certain pressure before it worked.
The otterbox does not have this issue.
I would of loved to have kept this case, but it just couldn't read ebooks or texts with it. I kept getting eyestrain after prolonged use. When I switched back to the otterbox, I was very surprised as the text looked sharper and colors more vibrant, as well.
I really hope lifeproof fixes these issues, because this would be the case to own, if it didn't have issues.
What's great about it: Waterproof
What's not so great: Poor quality screen protector, volume button sticks

The HDMI problem has been fixed..
on January 2, 2013

I just want to say the HDMI problem has been fixed with a firmware release. I've had this connected to my HDTV via HDMI flawlessly, and currently use it with a monitor via HDMI.
As the kids say, this computer is "a beast," and once you upgrade the RAM (user replaceable, search forums for best deals) to 16gigs, you'll be flying.
Initially this was going to be simply a media computer/streamer, and my self built $1,200 windows 8 machine was going to remain my desktop, however - I much prefer OS X. Add gestures via the magic trackpad, not having a big PC tower/fans on all the time, and the clean, wireless look on my computer desk - and I'm completely sold on Apple products. My windows 8 PC was moved to media streamer/PC duties, and this has become my day to day desktop/audio creation machine.
It performs flawlessly, offers upgrade paths (adding SSD/RAM is doable), and handles cubase with multiple VSTs / audio ins going without problems.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very comfortable, but too much emphasis on bass
on June 27, 2010

This is the second pair I try from best buy, the first was the Metrofi 220, which were very uncomfortable and had too much bass. These are much more comfortable, stay in place during gym/running, and are very easy to get a good seal. However, I'm still not crazy about the sound signature (still unbalanced emphasis on bass), so I'm returning these and springing for the RE0 iems, which are about the same price and suppose to be neutral. I had these for about a week, and left them on practically 24/7.
If you're like me and after natural sounding instruments, balanced bass that's tight and lifelike (not overbearing), and wanting to hear micro details in the track...these are not your iems. However, if you're looking for some fun headphones for dance or bass heavy music, where clarity isn't of primary importance, then these should be considered.
What's great about it: Fit, weight, seal, very comfortable
What's not so great: sound sig not to my liking, price.

save your money and buy the skullcandy full metal
By jdg443 from western wa
for nearly $200 I expected these headphones to really knock my socks off. Not only were they not comfortable at all they sounded shrill on the high end and no bass at all. It seems like you are paying for fancy card board box and fancy velcro wraps for the wires I will give them an A+ for that but im not buying a box im buying a set of head phones
