Quiet, speedy drive

I bought this to replace a dead DVD-burner. I could have gotten one cheaper if I would have gone with one of the big online retailers, but I wanted it now. It is quieter than the old one. It does what it is supposed to. The bundled software is nothing to write home about, but is serviceable. I choose to continue using the Windows software that I have always been using.
What's great about it: Very quiet drive
What's not so great: Bundled software
I would recommend this to a friend!

Unbelievably good.

The Batman series of games is an amazing balance between realism and comic book fantasy. The visuals are amazing. The balance between combat and stealth is superb. The challenge modes allow you to get right to the stuff you love to do most.
As most gamers know, the PC version was broke upon release. Support for tessellation caused major framerate drops. This was eventually fixed, but not well enough, at least not for someone using an ATI graphics card.
I also found the control layout between playable characters to be a bit confusing. They seem to be laid out by that characters weapon of choice preferences. It makes sense, but that means for one character the button may launch a ranged weapon and for another a melee weapon. Eventually you get used to it.
What's great about it: Depth of story, visuals
What's not so great: Lots of controls, advanced graphics support

This release from the popular British science-fiction series Doctor Who includes all 14 episodes from the show's sixth season, following the titular, Eleventh Doctor (played by Matt Smith) as he and his companion (Karen Gillan) use the infamous Tardis to travel through time and space, often stopping aliens, evil, and general chaos from destroying the Earth.

Doctor still charming, story arc pretentious

I would recommed this to a friend if the friend were a Doctor Who fan.
This is the weakest season of the current DW run. The season plays too much like a soap opera. What was once a series of episodes leading to an unexpected finale, is now a series about the expected finale without much else of interest going on. The plot of the overarching story arc is much too convoluted and contrived to be really interesting.
Still, the chemistry of the main characters remains, and they are still interesting characters. There is the occasional gem of an episode, but that is more the exception than the rule. Many are just there to propel the afore mentioned overarching story arc.
As for the extras, the extra bits of story that go on between the episodes is not as good as the last season. The monster files are generally good.
What's great about it: It is still the Doctor
What's not so great: It plays more like a bad soap opera.

For the fan. The sound is excellent. The bonus live content is wonderful. The video was a bit light on content. The whole set is a disc lighter than the Dark Side set. Overall, though, the content and quality is enough to satisfy the steep price. The books are good. The trinkets range from great to bizarre.
My biggest dissappointment is the lack of original artwork from the LPs. The size of the box is almost as big as record jacket. Why not give us the original artwork as well. Par of what made this album for me was the fun of the album artwork. Yes, it is still there, but "re-imagined," and, I believe, a bit lost in the process.
What's great about it: Quad and surround mixes plus early Animals tracks
What's not so great: Lowest disc-count of Immersion sets, lack of original artwork

For fans only. The nature of Pink Floyd leaves very little room for difference between the studio and live versions. There is some stretching of the solos and endings. An extra song or two, but essentially the studio album performed live.
The two discs of demos are only summarily explained unlike the Beatles Anthology for example. Also there is quite a bit of repetition in the demos as you follow the development of the album.
The video disc if very interesting as it includes excellent footage of original Wall performances. The documentary is also very good and different from the documentaries on the Wall movie DVD.
The books and trinkets are nothing to write home about. No revelations. More marbles.
Overall, very satisfying. Missing are the Blu-ray and surround mixes of the previous Immersion sets, but due to the double LP nature of the album, it is understandable. The footage from the original concerts are the most intriguing and raises hopes for further Wall offerings. (and more marbles, yay!)
What's great about it: 7 discs of material
What's not so great: Somewhat repetitive

Bought on sale. Corded, so it does not use a battery. At first it had a very pronounced echo which went away after a while. It sits very light on the ear. I would prefer a bit more heft so I know it is still there. Sound could be better, but it is not awful.
In the end, it does what it is supposed to.
What's great about it: Hands free talking
What's not so great: A bit of echo

Good warranty experience

I wouldn't normally write a review for an ink cartridge, but I had a satisfying experience with HP after my previous cartridge failed after only 10% usage. It was not a painless experience. They wanted a lot of info. Fotunately, I am computer savvy and could find out everything, but I believe they would have walked me through it or ignored a few fields if I needed.
In the end, a replacement cartridge was shipped to me by FedEx (or maybe DHL) after only a day or two. Some service.
What's great about it: HP replaced defective cartridge
What's not so great: Lots of forms to fill out for a replacement
I would recommend this to a friend!
