This has a delicate story line which took me on a journey I didn't expect to travel. The actors did a great job in making you feel you were part of their lives and struggles.

John Cromwell directs Bette Davis in Of Human Bondage, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are neither subtitles nor closed captions on this release. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence. This is an inexpensive release from Alpha.

If you can dismiss the poor audio & picture quality on this DVD, you can see why this film is considered a classic. Especially the scenes of Ms. Davis as young and beautiful as she was in 1934, you can appreciate her beauty on the close ups with her eyes gazing up toward the camera.
What's great about it: Leslie Howard & Bette Davis were the best acting partners.
What's not so great: As expected, the picture quality was poor & audio was not the best.
Sweet movie about a relationship involving an older woman and a younger man. Michelle Pfieiffer and Pual Rudd were adorable. Not your typical chick flick.
What's great about it: Tracey Ullman is a jewel as Mother Nature!
Michael Patrick Jann's mockumentary Drop Dead Gorgeous comes to DVD with a pair of pictures. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame transfer. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include the original theatrical trailer, cast and crew filmographies, and DVD-ROM content that allows script-to-screen access. No matter what one thinks of the film, this is a very strong DVD.

Great movie with the Minnesota accents. Fun to watch, especially Ellen Barkin!
