Surprisingly short life

We had this Breville product for a little over one year. This toaster broke beyond repair with only very moderate use. I could have bought 3 toasters for the price of this one --- very disappointing. I really liked the toaster but will never spend a lot of money on a toaster again.
What's great about it: Great toaster when it works
What's not so great: Inoperative after only one year
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
