I don't feel I'm largely qualified to comment on this, but Best Buy offered me some Rewards points for it, so I will say what I know. To start, the program is very light on the system, which I love. It's been a solid step forward from Norton, which was my last Antivirus company. I can't comment on its effectiveness, because I simply don't know. Maybe that's a good thing, given how behind the scenes it is, but I can say I have not encountered any viral problems since using this. It also offers a very useful online tracking service, which makes adding other PCs to the membership easy and comprehensive. All around, I've been very pleased with this.

I'm normally very thorough with my reviews, and would like to be here, but I don't see much point. This is Office: It delivers in every way that we would expect from Microsoft. Each of the programs are very useful for a plethora of reasons, and the programs haven't lost any appeal with this model. I would highly recommend this program to others.

There's not much to say about this cable. It does what it's supposed to, and that's all anyone should ask from it. The only negative aspect is that you can lose some files in the transfer, which proved to me to be a minor concern (as I didn't lose anything important--mostly just some add on's for arcade games), but a seemingly unnecessary one all the same.

Nice design for an old system

There's not much to say about this Xbox that undoubtedly hasn't already been said. It's a solid system with a great library of games, but aside from a nice, new, compacted design, it's still the same system. It's a great system, but given the release of newer hardware, it is dated and it shows. A solid fall back for some modern gaming, but I would suggest going a step up to the XB1 or PS4 if given the option.

Solid yet dated laptop

Not much to say about this PC, given the short amount of time that I've had it. The touch screen is very responsive and nice for a Windows 8 system. I have had no troubles with general functionality, and it does well with Office, which is my primary use for it. My only complaint would be the dated (and somewhat slow) processor, which may make some programs lag a bit, as well as some process-heavy websites. But given the price range and general functionality beyond that, it's an all around solid machine for the price. I would recommend it any users not planning on playing video games or using any overly resource-hungry programs.

A Solid Return

Perhaps the greatest travesty this album could face is its title. Living up to the classic Marshal Mathers LP is a long shot for any artist, even the man that penned the original. By naming this the MMLP2, Eminem raised both the stakes and expectations of the record, which will invariably hinder its reaction.
I will say outright that the MMLP2 is a solid rap album. It's also a strong step forward for an artist rediscovering himself in the expatriation of sobriety. Yet, it's far removed from a sequel. While the record does well to touch on old topics from the previous album -- returning to Stan through his scorned brother, tapping issues like coming to terms with fame, et cetera -- the style of Em's lyrical flow and the production of the tracks alone stand out like a sore thumb. With that said, a collaboration between Em and Rick Rubin was both inevitable and successful. Rick's influences are dotted through this amalgamation of producers and collaborators. Even with Dre being a co-Executive Producer, the album feels fresh from his established sound and is undeniably invigorating. The MMLP2 crafts a sound that strikes the ear as modern yet different; straying from the themes of the zeitgeist while still hitting the radio with a reserved seat.
If taken as a standalone album, separate entirely from its namesake, the MMLP2 is adventurous, ambitious, relentless, and clear cutting; all while displaying Em's lyrical potential in a gamut ranging from vivid, rapid-fire rhymes to glimpses of his older, slower, free-style imagery. The beats are risky, from homages, to old school hip-hop, to sampling classic rock tracks like the The Zombie's "Time of the Season" in "Rhyme or Reason" and Joe Walsh's "Life's Been Good" in "So Far..."., and while nothing here feels particularly reminiscent of the original album, these tracks nevertheless standout as some of my favorites of his work to date.
Perhaps the strongest element of the record is in its sense of development. It does succeed in telling the next chapter of Em's ongoing drama, with him coming to terms with his mother in "Headlights" and joking tongue-in-cheek about his resounding success in Rap God, but also returns to older struggles of his childhood by targeting his oft overlooked father, or reinvigorating the underdog with a respectful nod in "Legacy." There are macabre undertones that we've come to expect from him over the years as well, but nothing quite as campy/comedy as was commonplace in the first album. Those elements in this album feel like they're just shaking off the the remaining flakes of the freshly-sober, sincerity-creep factor found in Relapse, and there aren't quite as many laughs to be found here, whether by sincere humor or as a nervous reaction. Yet, still shining with the refreshing confidence of Recovery, Em resounds with a strong sense of identity and purpose, even if that purpose is reminding us how untrustworthy relationships can be, or how he himself may struggle with the double edged image he's crafted over the years.
With all subjectivity aside, If you are looking for old school Em, you're better off hunting down Infinite. But, if you're looking for something that sounds fresh, even if it doesn't entirely break new ground, this album does the trick. I also highly recommend going for the Deluxe edition. In a move that is uncharacteristic of the industry, I found at least three of the five additional tracks as good if not better than those on the actual album.

A solid, new direction
on November 25, 2013

This album takes a new direction for the Arctic Monkeys. Lead singer Alex Turner returns with his distinctive voice, yet is now accompanied by sleazy guitar drawls reminiscent of the Black Keys. Back up vocals lace tracks with high pitched chimes that felt a bit odd to adjust to at first, yet quickly absorbed into the bread of the work and resulted in a natural harmony. At first blush, the entire album has a kind of pop edge and highly polished sound that's a great departure from their funk-rock debut, "Whatever People Say I Am..." which may disarm old fans, but the result feels fresh and still manages to maintain the Arctic Monkey feel.
This album invokes a mood that is as sexually raw as it is introspective and brooding, while never quite feeling lethargic at its lows nor blitzed at its highs. The lyrics are perhaps where it falls shortest for me, given its superfluous and repetitious emphasis on relationships -- failed, unrequited, or otherwise -- but content aside, the crafting of the words are clever and lay well with the music itself. The result of this is an excellent record to put in for some background music, maybe worth catching a song or lyric to nod along with, but mostly fitting best in ambiance as opposed at the forefront of attention.
All subjectivity aside, the record is structurally sound and well polished, bringing a nice blend of old and new elements. As a standalone rock album, I would certainly recommend this. However, if you are an old fan, it may behoove you to give it a listen on Spotify first to make up your own mind.

John Mayer at his best

This is an all around solid CD. The music is a strong blend of blues and pop. What John Mayer does best really shines through here in terms of making a lighter hearted--yet deep--slow cadenced record. As is to be expected with Mayer, it's a good album to kick back and enjoy or to play in the background of a romantic occasion. Some of the lyrical content is where it really shines, with tracks like "Belief," "Waiting on the World to Change," and "Stop this Train," where Mayer digs into subjects of war, the finite reality of our lives, and the desire to make the most of an imperfect world. The only weakness here for me is that it tends to fall a bit too deep into pop territory on a few tracks, but this is a matter of personal taste and didn't break the deal for me.

A solid power source for laptops

There's not a whole lot to say about this plug. Like most power sources, it doesn't do anything other than power your laptop. But what it does, it does well. The heads are varied, and so far as I can tell will fit pretty much any laptop. We've had ours for about a month now, so I can't attest to its durability, but I can't imagine it will break easily with how thick the cord is. It is a three prong, so that's not preferable for me (I've found the third prong tends to break if yanked from the socket, but that's assuming it's being handled wrong to begin with), and not all sockets offer the third hole. Overall though, I don't see anything wrong with this piece.

Clapton at his best

Clapton's first record after overcoming alcoholism and addiction, Journeyman showcases his talents at their best. Most of the songs here were written by fellow musicians, but Clapton's sound is distinct and the cadence of the record is a sturdy balance of slow jams and upbeat tracks. If you are a fan of Clapton, or into his version of oldschool pop and mainstream blues, give it a listen.
