Verified Purchase:Yes
A long needed update of the original pilot that spawn 2 series. It was ABC's answer to Star Wars, and even used some of Lucas special effects people. It shows it's age today, but I still enjoy it. This is about as best as the picture will get unless somebody cleans up the special effects. I hope they bring the rest of the series out on blu ray soon.

Worthy remake

In the small town of Ogden Marsh in a nearby swamp, there was an airplane that crash lands in it contaminating the town's water supply with chemicals. The people who drink from the water turn into homicidal maniacs who look like zombies as it seems some government contamination unites are blocking the town, Sheriff Dutton (Timothy Olyphant) with pregnant wife Judy (Radha Mitchell) including Deputy Russell (Joe Anderson) and Becca (Danielle Panabaker) are escaping the town to get to the major city for a new home unless they can get out alive.
Terrifying and brilliant remake of the obscure George Romero cult fave, this Sci-fi horror thriller is better than one of Romero's weaker efforts (Dawn of the Dead with Night and Day were better including martin). This is a fantastic reimagining that will rank with "The Thing", "The Fly", "Dawn of the Dead", "The Blob", "King Kong" etc in terms of great genre remakes. The acting is just superb and the action is plentiful, George A. Romero executive produced this one here which makes it an A on my list.
This Blu-Ray gives the viewer that theatrical experience through flawless picture and sound that skyrockets to the roof. The extras are terrific such as audio commentary, featurettes, storyboards, 2 motion comics, photo gallery and teasers to trailers.
A must have for Sci-fi/horror fanatics.
What's great about it: After only one month, it's only $12.99
What's not so great: No real complaints

Not for everyone.

For a low budget Troma film, this is a cut above the rest. You actually get some wonderful cinematography on the beach scenes and real fear from the racists statements. You love Momma for what she does and you'll see some interesting costume ideas borrowed from the movie "A Clockwork Orange." If you like the Troma style of film making, this is a must have.
What's great about it: A classic in low budget film making.
What's not so great: Not for kids.

A movie about heart and soul

My advice is for those who know this movie and love it. Yes, by all means get it on blu ray. The picture is outstanding. But, whatever you do, don't pay full price. Wait for discounts. I was able to buy this film on blu ray for $10 at my local Best Buy. Patience will save you bucks.
What's great about it: Beautiful on blu ray
What's not so great: Having to buy it twice. First time DVD then Blu ray.

Take home HBO's sprawling look at the fall of Rome in this box set featuring all 22 episodes from the series' two season run, and a winning collection of bonus materials. In addition to four featurettes detailing the history of the Roman empire, fans also get 13 audio commentary tracks featuring the cast and crew, three behind-the-scenes featurettes detailing the production of the series, two featurettes detailing the production of pivotal scenes, and an interactive historical guide. A 20 hour epic!

Rome was a co-production of HBO and the BBC. It cost $100 million and looks it. In some ways it is a pre-sequel to "I Claudis" that was made in the 70's by the BBC. It tells the story of the beginning Caesars and their rise to power. If you are offended easily don't watch it as it has a lot of adult content, nudity, and graphic violence.
The picture quality is outstanding and a great way to show off your HD TV. Be on the look out for bargins as I got my copy for $62.00 at Best Buy during Christmas time.
What's great about it: The picture quality.
What's not so great: I want more seasons

Death Race Unrated Run time?

Under Runtime of Death Race with Jason Statham is listed a Runtime length of 60 minutes. This seems really short, especially by today's standards. Is this the correct runtime length?
