First of all, the cinematography was impecable and flawless. It is a beautiful movie and it is as close and accurate as it could get to the real life legend Jesse James. Casey Affleck is remarkable as Robert Ford, you just love him playing the envious coward, he is perfect. The Academy Awards failed to reward this one, for I think it should of been nominated for Best Picture, Director and Screenplay for Andrew Dominik, and the ones that it did get Supporting Actor for Affleck and of course the cinematography which only lost to the equally masterful work of Robert Elswit for There Will Be Blood.
What's great about it: The Cinematography work, Affleck, the screenplay and direction.
What's not so great: It might of been unnessassary to continue shortly after James was killed. But its an interesting choice by the director.
What can I say, you must see it to truly appreciate the greatness of it. It's not your typical alien movie, it is very different, I might even say it's a love story instead. Do not judge the film by it's cover or by it's title, this flick leads you in a totally different direction. Don't expect grandious special effects and non stop non sense action. Its artsy, and you must know how to appreciate "beautiful films" to get this one. I just LOVED the final scene in where the two creatures meet, something I have never seen before, it had kind of a meaning like, even the worst of us, despite the terror we can unleash, we are also capable of sharing love.
What's great about it: The ending scene was truly remarkable! It was two hideous monsters, yes, but it was also love, it was beautiful.
What's not so great: Its simple, nothing too genious about it, simple but great.

The first time i wore these, i was walking, and had it in low volume, i could hear the echoes of the wire moving around, maybe it was of the "crisp of newness" because i have not had this problem again..they also fall off very easily..and the sound is ok. overall theyre not bad earphones, theyre ok.
What's great about it: they look good, comfortable, for a good price
What's not so great: the sound is not horrible but great either
Scorsese has a streak for having a masterpiece each decade, Taxi Driver in 70's, Raging Bull in 80's, Goodfellas in 90's and now The Departed in the new millenium. He handled this piece of work with masterful techniques. The bad language is no problem, like other reviews here said, after all, a film is suppose to be accurate to what it's portraying, and this is a crime film that has to do with gangsters and moles. Leo is great overall but in some scenes his character is transformed into someone different from the two characters he's already playing (the paranoid cop, and the raging mole). after a while i forget about this because that flaw is layered with the other stars magnificent performances..especially Mark Wahlberg's shoulda-been Oscar winning performance, that with every appearance he makes on screen, makes me laugh. It is definetly a masterpiece, and no, I dont get tired of watching it.
What's great about it: A great smart film, with great humor, the script is top-notch
What's not so great: Leo's over acting (in some scenes) overall, he's still great though.
