Released on DVD after gaining a wider audience on video, Bound features a 1.85:1 widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital capability, as well as trailers and a highly entertaining commentary track. Whereas most commentaries only feature the one or two filmmakers, the Bound feature-length audio commentary features writer/directors Andy and Larry Wachowski, cinematographer Bill Pope, Joe Pantoliano, Jennifer Tilly, Gina Gershon and sex consultant Susie Bright. The commentary sounds like all involved recorded it on a random afternoon, with the stars arriving at different points in the track. Jennifer Tilly, for example, arrives somewhere in the middle of the film, breathless with apologies. Gina Gershon only makes it for the final reel. The feeling is incredibly informal and everyone seems to have fun in each other's company, making the commentary more entertaining for the listener. Susie Bright's involvement makes the commentary even more worthwhile. She takes her role of sex consultant on the film seriously and adds insightful comments to some of the imagery and material in the film. Bound is presented in its uncut version, which restores a minute of film deemed too explicit for its U.S. release. As an example of a successful commentary track, Bound's DVD release is highly recommended.
