A great cast is absolutely wasted

This is one poorly structured and out of focus political film that’s neither a political thriller nor a think piece. It’s just an excuse to lambaste the political process all the while mixing in insane liberal rhetoric at just about every turn. Every stump speech Clooney delivers is filled with the most idiotic liberal platitudes imaginable. I give credit for pointing out Democratic hypocrisy and it’s an interesting look in to the mindset of a left wing campaign but it’s not interesting enough. A great cast is absolutely wasted here and the movie itself offers no insight or depth to any real issue. This movie is as big of a waste of time as any dumb CGI video game movie and that’s the real surprise.
What's great about it: The acting
What's not so great: Everything not performance related. Terrible plot.

First Class is moving, funny and fun

Personally, I love this movie. It rivals X2 as the best of the bunch. The tone was breathtakingly perfect. Setting it in the early 60’s was brilliant. This gives the film something no one really has seen before in these type of films and certainly elevates it from the X-Trilogy. As a fan of that trilogy, it is everything I was hoping for and maybe a bit more. This is the Xavier and Magneto story everyone has wanted to see since X1 and it’s done remarkably well. It’s easy to see why this movie has surprised the doubters and seems to frustrate the few haters. It’s solid all the way through. The first half features a set up with characterization so clever and so engaging that it’s shear perfection. That perfection seems to stumble a bit under the weight of the villain’s master plan. Things get a bit too grandiose and certain military action boarders on the crazy but the film never loses the fun factor throughout. First Class is moving, funny and fun and maybe not technically better than X2, it’s certainly as entertaining.
What's great about it: Best prequel of all-time.
What's not so great: nothing

Superb Film

Matthew McConaughney really should take more lawyer roles because this may very well be the best character he’s ever played and the best work that he’s ever done, topping A Time To Kill and I enjoyed that movie very much. This is a slick and an intelligent film that is engrossing and keeps you guessing all the way through. The supporting cast is perfect.
What's great about it: Great and smart drama
What's not so great: nothing

Wonderful Escapist Fare... Fun with Heart!

I can see why everyone is praising Captain America in some way. Cap manages to deliver a little bit of everything and does it with style and integrity. This extremely talented cast fit each character perfectly, both large and especially the smaller roles. The story itself is told in a masterful, crisp manner. The dialogue is witty and the humor works its way seamlessly in to the natural order of the story. The film certainly is smart but it’s fun first and foremost. Comic book style slugfests are certainly part of the fun but are inserted as a vehicle for the story and not just to see CGI things explode. Things aren’t blown up just for the sake of seeing them go boom. What makes Captain America as good as any Marvel film is the fact that it’s a fine film for kids but it's even greater if you're an intelligent adult. How many movies can pull that off? Like Thor and the Iron Man films, this is movie making of the most entertaining order and it easily deserves all the praise it has generated from both fans and critics alike. It makes anyone long for that Avengers film to be sure.
What's great about it: It has heart to go with its action and adventure.
What's not so great: nothing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Thor is an exquisite film. I thought it was smart, well written, visually stunning, very well directed, and struck just the right tone for the material. There’s really no other movie you can compare this one too. It’s part psychodrama that explores the depth of human relationships but still delivers great action. It also gives us a human element to which most anyone should be able to relate. This movie really is exceptional. From the epic opening set on Asgard, to the awesome battle with the Destroyer back on Earth, Thor is filled with plenty of action, a compelling story and some superb direction from Branagh. Yes, I said superb. Everything I wanted in a film such as this and, actually, quite a bit more.
What's great about it: Great on its own but sets up Avengers nicely!
What's not so great: Nothing.

Simply Marvel-ous!

Iron Man is indeed the absolutely perfect mix of high-tech razzle dazzle mixed with a complex soulfulness and good old-fashioned charisma. It easily fulfilled and then exceeded all of my expectations. The only thing I worry about is that they may be setting expectations for that Avengers movie too high. How can it possibly live up to the standard these movies are setting and setting up????? Iron Man 2 is EVERYTHING you would want in a movie and much more! It is a special treat when a sequel reaches up and delivers an excellent film that you thoroughly enjoy as much if not more than a beloved first installment. It truly feels like they just paused and kept telling the same story but with more of an edge. Hopefully they can do it again and skip that third movie curse. Think of it as another installment and they’ll be fine. Fitting Avengers in to the mix is even more fun to think about but I heard that Favreau will be involved with that as an executive producer. So, I'm not worried. In the meanwhile, we can all enjoy this film because it stands on its own but as a great part of a running saga.
The only remotely negative thing I have to say about this movie is that I want more and I want it now! Bring on the Avengers STAT! Simply Marvel-ous!
What's great about it: Just about everything!
What's not so great: Needed to see more Black Widow

Outstanding In Every Way

This movie truly delivered. I've read a lot of people give credit to IM2 for "sheer entertainment value" they should also acknowledge that it's smart, well structured and offered GREAT performances. Oscar level performances to go with the thrills and the laughs mark a huge winner in my book. Iron Man was a great film and IM2 did most everything movie one did but often expanded on it. After going darker and deeper with Tony, they placed him again in "creator" mode just like the first movie. This gave some of the same flavor to the film as the first. That was a wonderful creative decision. Add the best final act in comic movie history and why wouldn't this be called one of the best ever?
What's great about it: Performances, special efforts, humor and plot
What's not so great: Final battle could've been longer

intense film ... outstanding

Ben Affleck is an incredible two for two as a director. I was captivated by this film and thoroughly enjoyed it. I now understand all the comparisons to the movie “Heat”. It’s an intense film that keeps you on the edge of your seat, even in non action sequences. At times, you often wonder if it’s right to be rooting for Affleck’s character but even that aspect is addressed by a remarkably smart and crisp script. The cast is absolutely perfect and I honestly feel the film itself should receive some Oscar buzz.
