Surprisingly Good Horror Remake
on September 26, 2009
Posted by: SealessHope
Two teen girls named Mari (Sarah Paxton) and Paige (Martha Maclsaac) were out in the city to have a good time but when they meet a few crooks named Krug (Garret Dillahunt), Justine (Spencer Treat Clark), Francis (Aaron Paul) and Sadie (Riki Lindhome) as they kidnap the girls. They take them away from the city only to kill them but after the dirty business they seek shelter in the home of a married couple (Tony Goldwyn and Monica Potter) but unfortunately they are the parents of Mari whom have survived and now the parents seek to destroy the maniacs.
this was a Brilliant and well done remake of a 1972 cult favorite which was good but outdated, afterall there has been some excellent films of the 70's that have stood the test of time like "Halloween", "The Exorcist", "Jaws" etc. but "Last House" wasn't one of them. The original was based on Igmar Bergman's swedish arthouse film "The Virgin Spring" but this one was a vast improvement on the badly acted yet comical at times 1972 version as this movie was serious without a bit of humor. The acting here is just excellent and the original producers Wes Craven with Sean S. Cunningham collabrate together once again to produce this redux but made it better. The sequences is as shocking yet more realistic then the one in the original but not as graphic as the 10 minute in "I Spit on Your Grave" which was worse then the one here and was better then the 1972 Last House movie even "House on The Edge of the Park" was better then Last House 1972.
This Blu-Ray gives off excellent picture and sound quality in perfect quality and both unrated and theatrical cuts with only a few extras like behind the scenes, deleted scenes and BD-live, this movie is one of the greatest horror remakes ever and one of the best horror movies of the decade.
What's great about it: Good remake

Surprisingly not the worst movie ever
on September 26, 2009

See No Evil is a solid slasher flick, it's main problem is that it plays it too safe and doesn't take risks or innovate anywhere. The plot is fine, surprisingly better than a lot of slasher flicks these days, but it's nothing creative or noteworthy. The acting is isn't spectacular or anything, but it's better than most horror movies that have come out around this time. The movie is pretty gory, the villain has a certain "liking" for eyeballs. Some of the kills are pretty brutal, which should keep slasher fans pleased. It's an entertaining slasher flick, no more and no less.
if you would like to rent this? then be my guess just don't expect more
What's not so great: Slasher flick that takes no chances at all.

A must have for all Lost fans
on September 26, 2009

Lost is the perfect show to showcase the amazing picture and sound only blu-ray high def can offer. Seeing Lost on blu-ray takes the show to a whole new level. With 6 times the resolution of DVD, everything just seems to pop out at you in this amazing 6 disc set. From the grass and trees on the island to the blue sky and the facial expressions (including seeing the actors pores), every detail just pops out like nothing you have seen before in a TV show. Lost Season 3 blu-ray is truly breathtaking and is one amazing experience to see it in blu-ray high def. This is one of the best TV shows to come out in a long time, and is one of the few shows that hook you in, gets you addicted, and takes you on this emotional journey with the characters. Sometimes after each episode you are lost yourself by what is going on, but it is that mystery and suspense that keep fans coming back for more. In season 3 we find out more about the others along with some answered questions on some of the characters pasts. Disney/Buena Vista put a lot in their DVD and Blu-ray sets and Season 3 is no exception. Lost The Complete Third Season -- The Unexplored Experience blu-ray is presented in 6 blu-ray discs with all 23 episodes and is presented in full 1080p high definition with a 1.78:1 widescreen transfer. This blu-ray looks even better than the over-the-air high definition transfer which is broadcast in 720p. This is without a doubt the best looking TV show ever in high definition to date. The audio for Lost is great as well. You get a PCM track which sounds the best and has more impact than the 5.1 dolby digital track. The sound along with the pristine picture just make this set that much more enjoyable. Lost is one show that was truly meant to be seen and appreciated in high definition.
The bonus material is as follows
· "The World of the Others," which explores the crucial role of "The Others" in season 3 and what the world of Lost holds for these characters in the future.
· "Lost Flashbacks" - Never-before-seen glimpses into the past lives of the castaways
· "Lost in a Day" - Fans of Lost will have a chance to see what it really takes to create the show each season.
· "Lost on Location" - A behind-the-scenes look at the making of 10 episodes from season 3
· "The Lost Book Club" - Learn about the role of literature in the story of Lost in this exploration of the books featured in the series.
· Deleted Scenes
· Bloopers
· Audio Commentaries
· Exclusive, interactive BD-Java Feature - Fans will rethink what they know about Lost and change the way they watch the show. Viewers decipher truth from conjecture through an interactive control panel unlocking the mysterious world of Lost.

Blu-Ray is crisp
on September 26, 2009

I have watched all the seasons of LOST. When season 1 was broadcast it wasn't in HD. When I found out this realease was, I was so excited. This Blu-Ray version is even better than when it was on TV. Crisp images are superb! And no commercials, so you can immense yourself deep into the labyrinth of LOST's stories. Season play is great on my PS3. I wasn't sure how it worked at first, but now I can't watch without it. You can resume within episodes! Bravo! Season 1 is my favorite! I will watch over and over!

Most sequels are little more than a cheeper rehash of the original, but this superior sequel actually may be better than it's original in that the story is better explained and the history is more the focus. Everything that made the first movie great is here in this one as well, but this film seems to have a clearer vision and brings far more depth to all of the principal characters. Like the first one, there is no gore or bloodshed; it is just good old fashioned, spooky, atmospheric story-telling. This whole film is slickly executed and has a definitive ending and I hope that it is the end as a third go-around would be rather lame in comparison to this film and the original.
This film really does bring an appropriate end to the story which by this point has reached an almost mythical stature. We learn in much more detail about Sumara's life before her murder and, more importantly, what it is that she really wants. Neither of these aspects are explored enough in the first film. While both films are very satisfying in their conclusion, this one is moreso as we better understand the reasons behind Sumara's behavior and why she was murdered in the first place.
This film is nothing less than riveting. I and my family, thanks to the PG-13 rating for its disturbing images totally enjoyed this very effective chiller.
What's great about it: Far more impressive than it may appear on first viewing
What's not so great: it's Good ..But it's Different From the Original

An interesting story with a confusing ending
on September 26, 2009

I've always been interested in those PG-13 horror movies that are almost always dumb, but entertaining nonetheless. Therefore, I rented this movie with low expectations. However, watching it at midnight by myself, I found myself completely intrigued by the film. It honestly gave me the chills. I must've jumped an inch out of my seat at least five times.
I can honestly say that I've never actually been scared much by "scary" movies. I've watched classics like The Shining and Carrie without so much as a cringe, as well as newer teen-horrors.
An American Haunting is a genuinely creepy movie. The torturing of the Bell family's young daughter Betsy is both disturbing and fascinating; I found I couldn't take my eyes away as she was dangled from the ceiling and repeatedly slapped across the face by an invisible entity. The use of color, switching to black and white, during the ghostly attacks is well done and adds to the mood of fear and confusion.
When American Haunting came out last year, I actually planned on going to see it in the theaters. I was intrigued by the mention that it was based on true events, and so I did some research on the real Bell Witch of Tennessee. From what I read and what I saw in the movie, the director did a very nice job of accurately depicting the events without too much hollywood fluff. An American Haunting is a very satisfying ghost story, and worth seeing.
What's great about it: Very scary
What's not so great: confusing ending

"Don't fall asleep
on September 26, 2009

Since the NOES series is my favorite horror series of all time, I thought I'd write out reviews for all the movies.
Nightmare On Elm Street...an instant classic. How you can you beat an idea like falling asleep, being chased by someone like Freddy Krueger, killed in your dream, and dying for real while you sleep? It probably has to be one of the most innovative ideas in horror, ever!
The pace in this movie is great. Doesn't go too fast, doesn't go to slow where you lose interest. It's nice to be able to follow Nancy on her downward spiral into insanity. And how could you not get freaked out at how Tina was thrashed around the room? And how much blood shot up out of Glen's bed? This movie is a masterpeice.
What's great about it: Classic Horror Movie

Classic Horror Movie...Classic John Carpenter
on September 26, 2009

This is without a doubt my favorite John Carpenter movie of all time, and the transfer to blue ray looks awesome. It never ceases to amaze me how even an older film like this can look so fresh and clear in HD. And even after all this time, this special-effects heavy film still holds up in both the visual and the horror department!
What's great about it: Blu Ray Transfer looks great
What's not so great: Come on it's a classic

Brilliant Blu-ray Transfer

I think HALLOWEEN has been around so long that nothing new can be said about it. It is a classic and shall forever be. I was a senior in high school when it came out. It has forever changed the Halloween season for me. I cannot imagine Halloween without HALLOWEEN. I think it has a lot more meaning for us "older" kids. Just like DAWN OF THE DEAD, FRIDAY THE 13th, CARRIE, and my personal favorite, THE SHINING. they were all pioneer movies. The music and the mood of these films will never be matched, copied, yes. I highly recommend all five of these movies. There are alot of other decent horror movies out also, but if I want to "go back in time", I just pop in one of these and let the memories & goosebumps start.
